Age Like Old Wine or Milk Till The Last Drop

Recommended Posts

@Mkl22 sold it after a year. the fuel consumption is damn high even in eco mode. however its really a comfortable car to sit esp for back passengers. For 169, there isnt any complaint at all. for 280k, then its plain dumb.

i bought the s90 in 2020, just before the CB kicks in. Overall decent car but it was already very dated then in 2020 as it was released in 2017. The "ipad" central console was a fresh concept back in 2017 but by 2020 it was already a dime a dozen. One thing to note - the version that wearnes motor brought in is missing many standard features.

Recently i went to volvo again and i was amazed that nothing has changed even though there is a so called "face-lift" model, minus the grill.  No wonder their sales are falling. 280k for this piece of junk!

BTW - i got that for 169K in 2020. Cant believe anyone in the right mind paying 250K for this metal

Buy Volvo for Safety.

Agree with your assessment of the S90. The facelift make it looks a generation older, like the 4G Audi A6.

The IS exterior keep up with times well but not the dated interior imo.

Really copy Audi A6 and A7 rear lights...

Even the angular edges of the side mirrors.

From all above Volvo engine still using timing belt, their engine development is stagnant.

I am surprised when I read that Volvo has reverted to timing belt for the 2nd gen XC60 (the facelift gen 1 has timing chain for T6 and above).

But honestly, as a driver, I can't feel the difference at all. Just need to be mindful about the belt change interval, but normally workshop guys are more than helpful to remind me what need to be changed.

@Tohto the facelift XC60 still using the same exact engine (Turbo with mild hybrid for B5, B6 not announced yet). That's more make me sticking to my sweet revving T6 (super + turbo charged). So far so good. *Touchwood*

Drove the 960 2.5 for a bit. Comfy seats, but shit handling. Even at low speeds, plenty of understeer and steering twitches like crazy when power is applied.
the inline6 was nice but a tad coarse.
of course Kenna ketok by SM motors.

SM, Wearnes and all other ADs are the same when come to charging for parts and servicing. I go external workshop once the warranty ended, much cheaper.

I just changed my brake pads yesterday, after 65K km. $238/pair (front) and $200/pair (rear), Wearnes pricing is more than double when I last check with them.

Good spot!

So will A6 owner replace Audi logo with Volvos or Volvo owner replace theirs with 4 rings? But both are LPPL... :D

I am sold by the comfort of Volvo seats and the suspension is somewhat in the middle (neither too stiff nor soft).

$169k for your S90 is really a no brainier. I heard the S60 T4 was selling at $129k during the same period, which is lagi better.

Volvo like to benchmark their pricing with BMW and Mercedes, which is not a good strategy if they are serious about moving sales. As a 2nd tier premium conti, they should price theirs at least 10 - 15% lower to attract buyers looking for VFM-ness.

Took delivery in Nov 2020. Bought it for my then 19 year old undergraduate daughter. Chosen because it is safe, reliable, comfortable and does not stand out.

No regrets. Daughter still prefers the car to my other more conspicuous ones.
