What's your purchase price ar? Cos based on SGCM's 230k, unfortunately most people would have bought a model Y, xpeng G6 etc. Though PHEV technology vs BEV.

Its lower then this. Some discounts here and there. Got sold by the range honestly and the drive is like an EV.

I’m currently driving an EV and been so for a year.

so yes, charging cost is really low and I make it a point to charge at the location with the cheapest tariff. It’s really cheaper.

but I cannot accept the 6 mths road tax. It’s close to 1.1k. But yeah I know about the $700 additional flat component.

I test drove it. Very well insulated due to the double glazed windows. Spacious and with good visibility all around. The phev is good for those short trips around estate where efficiency for a normal ICE car is always bad.

Are they still holding their price at 221k? What colour did you choose?

Enjoy your ride.

Based on YouTube videos, EV range is about 80km (based on 18.3kwh), while their engine can travel up to 1200km.

so total, about 1300km.

Congrats. What’s the EV range?

I heard from my friend that the bugbear of PHEV is the EV range. It’s not high enough to make a meaningful impact (requires very frequent charging) and end up functioning more like an ICE car with higher road tax and not much reduction in petrol costs.

Thats quite impressive really for the range.

Have you drove on the HEV mode, or only on its EV mode? Because I think on EV mode it drives basically as an EV, but  how different is it's drive when switch to HEV mode from EV mode? ^_^[laugh][laugh]

EV range is about 80. Actually, yes, the bugbear is when the battery is not charged and the ICE engine lugs the empty battery which then affects fuel economy.

but this one abit different. The battery is never discharged to more than 15%. When that happens, the hybrid petrol engine will take over and at the same time, charges the battery. so the SOC is always going up and down.

At low speeds up to 40km/hr, it’s pure EV mode.

when I test drove it and speed it at 70 to 80, I couldn’t hear the engine growling. So either their technology is superior or the car is equipped with 20 times of acoustic glass.

When I test drove, it’s seamless. Can’t hear the engine switching to and fro. The engine also charges the battery at the same time, and it caps the SOC at 15%, which means there’s never a time where the car is just lugging a dead battery.

I was considering buying this car in MY (Rm159k) for my monthly vacations  over there. But the new Toyota corolla cross hybrid cost lesser at RM140k. So tough choice for a budget car

The Jaecoo J7 ICE version ((2WD and AWD) has many on the roads in MY and i think i see it more often than the new facelifted Proton X70.  The J7  is a nice car for the money, but I wish it has more knob controls instead of having everything in that giant screen

Even when the battery is low, this car gives very good fuel efficiency when it runs on ICE

I m not sure what tech they used, but it is quite amazing for the price

Yeah, that’s why I’m sold at it. And the 60L fuel tank and 18.7kwh battery offers a range of 1300km.

that’s like 3 weeks plus of my routine driving.

btw, I’m not a paid sponsor from jaecoo
