Carbon82 Moderator May 21 Share May 21 The standard naturally aspirated 2.5-liter engine is dead; long live the 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid. The 2026 RAV4 packs a hybrid powertrain with Toyota's fifth-generation hybrid system equipped, which sees major improvements to the power control unit and battery for improved output and efficiency. The new RAV4 hybrid makes 226 horsepower when paired with standard front-wheel drive—the first for the model—or 236 horsepower with all-wheel drive. The FWD RAV has 23 more hp than the outgoing front-drive gas model, while the AWD version sees a 17-hp increase over the previous AWD hybrid. Toyota hasn’t released fuel economy figures yet. The GR Sport is Toyota’s first true performance-oriented RAV—although, it’s still not a full GR model. It’s powered by the PHEV powertrain and with AWD, making a properly powerful 320 horsepower, which means it should be even quicker to 60 miles per hour than the outgoing RAV4 Prime, which got there in 5.5 seconds. Visual cues like the larger front grille with the GR badge set the RAV4 GR Sport apart from the rest of the lineup (and it looks suspiciously similar to the GR Corolla’s updated grille), as do the special 20-inch wheels, rear roof spoiler, and interior, which is lined with suede and faux leather accents. The 2026 RAV4 goes heavy on screens with a standard 10.5-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Buyers can opt for a larger 12.9-inch touchscreen on certain models. Every version of the RAV runs a new generation of Toyota’s Audio Multimedia system that promises to be quicker and even more responsive, complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual Bluetooth compatibility, and for the first time, a static home button. The 2026 RAV is also the first Toyota with the brand’s Safety Sense 4.0 safety suite, which has all the same technology as the previous system—adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, etc—but with enhanced hardware and detection capabilities. ↡ Advertisement

Theres the phev rav4 prime released 4 years ago which has all EV acceleration. Won't lose to your Enyaq... But don't talk about handling lah. Hybrids sell very well in USA. One Texas is bigger than France or Germany. The workshop labour cost is high also. Jap cars are designed to be mechanic friendly also. When everyone in the family has a car. Would you buy a 10 year Volvo for your kid? Being stranded with a broken down vehicle in USA is a completely different concept than here lol. Different car culture. 1
Lala81 Hypersonic May 23 Share May 23 (edited) On the used car lot, other than niche cars, Toyota is always the first one to get sold. This kind of mass acceptance is something you can't buy. This is at a time when new cars are getting more expensive and the american middle class is stretched to its max. Edited May 23 by Lala81

steveting99 2nd Gear May 23 Share May 23 (edited) Cherry's sub-brand Exceed is going to give Toyota some heartache via the Exlantix ET REEV. The Exlantix ET comes with rear-wheel drive configuration! Powered by a rear electric motor outputting 195 kW (261 hp; 265 PS) and 324 Nm (239 lb⋅ft) of torque. The electric motor supplied by a 32 kWh LFP battery pack from CATL - believe to be Shenxing. Electric driving range is 200km (under CLTC) and a more realistic WLTP range of 150km. Sufficient for daily commute. Once the battery has reached it's low state, the REEV re-charges the CATL battery with a 1.5L turbo charged petrol engine. Claimed thermal efficiency is 44.5%. Total range is claimed to be over 1,500km (again under CLTC standard) and using the internationally recognized WLTP standard will be about 1,300kms. More than enough for the occasional road trip over the causeway without worry about finding a charge point. Compared tot he RAV 4, it's an overall larger mid-sized ride with a length of 4,955mm, width of 1,975mm and height of 1,698mm. With a wheelbase of 3,000mm, it's going to provide a lot more interior space than the RAV 4. Comes with frameless doors with double glazed windows to reduce outside road noise. Has 956 LED lamp beads for lighting the exterior - can see message in the pic below. Has a front lidar unit (optional) that continuously monitors the road ahead and adjusts the air suspension to smooth out the ride. Cherry claims that the calibrated combination of the air suspension and continuous damping control reduced pitch and roll motions by 30% and 20%, respectively A large 2.4m square panoramic sunroof lights in lots of natural sunlight to make the interior bright and airy. A powered sunshade is available to suite Singapore's hot sunny climate. Interior has a 10.25-inch floating LCD instrument panel, 23-inch head-up (HUD) display, a 15.6-inch 2.5K central control screen, and a two-spoke D-shaped steering wheel. The central control screen is equipped with a Snapdragon 8295P automotive processor for the infotainment screen. Provides instantaneous and snappy response. Seats are nappa leather and with soft touch finishing throughout. There's also real wood trimming. Comes with 23-speakers that can implement Dolby Atoms 7.1.4 surround sound system. Re-create a movie theater experience inside the car! Both front seats and the two rear side seats come with heating, ventilation and massage functions! Front passenger seat can fully recline for zero gravity setting. Foot rests are provided for the front passenger and rear side seats. The trunk has a capacity of 546L, which expands to 1,835L with the rear seats folded down; fully electric models are also equipped with a 60L frunk. Best part is international versions have been rolled out with deliveries beginning in early 2025. Cherry will expand to 30 countries by end of 2025 with European, Middle East, South American and ASEAN markets. Pricing in China starts from RMB 240k (USD $33.3k) for the base Max model. The next model is the Ultra which is priced at RMB 270k (USD $37.5k). The top is the Premium trim and priced at RMB 290k (USD $40.3k). Expect international prices to be higher. Has anyone considered the LC250 though the pricing is a turnoff? I'd like to know how much space is available if I put a child seat in the rear seat of the RAV4. Am driving a Corolla Cross now but kinda squeezy at the back? Is RAV4 a good upgrade apart from 2.0 to 2.5 and CVT engine? ↡ Advertisement
