Kb27 Supersonic June 29 Share June 29 Take note if you're travelling to China, taking their domestic flights. 😁 China bans uncertified power banks on domestic flights starting Jun 28 over fire risk BEIJING: China will ban uncertified power banks on all domestic flights starting Saturday (Jun 28), as aviation authorities tighten safety rules following several onboard fire incidents linked to portable chargers. Passengers will no longer be allowed to bring power banks that lack the official China Compulsory Certification (CCC) mark, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said in a notice on Thursday. Power banks that have faded or illegible CCC labels or are part of a product recall will also be barred, added the national civil aviation regulator. The notice cited recent incidents of power banks catching fire or emitting smoke mid-flight, along with multiple product recalls involving major brands. “These developments indicate that the power banks carried by passengers present safety and quality hazards, and the risks posed to civil aviation safety are growing,” CAAC said. Under the new rule, passengers without a valid CCC-certified device risk having their portable chargers confiscated at security or being denied boarding altogether. Airlines and their agents have been instructed to step up awareness campaigns about the fire risks associated with power banks, while airports are required to tighten inspections. CAAC has also called for improvements in the installation and maintenance of charging facilities at terminals. A record 730 million people flew domestically in 2024, according to CAAC. While most were Chinese residents, a portion included international visitors travelling within the country. In recent months, multiple in-flight smoke and fire incidents have been linked to power banks. On May 31, a China Southern Airlines flight from Hangzhou to Shenzhen was forced to turn back 15 minutes after take-off, after smoke was detected from a passenger’s camera battery and power bank. Two months earlier, a Hong Kong Airlines flight from Hangzhou to Hong Kong was diverted to Fuzhou when a mid-air fire broke out in the overhead compartment. The blaze was suspected to have been caused by a power bank. Multiple Asian airlines, including carriers from Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong, have barred the in-flight use of power banks, though most still allow them to be carried in cabin luggage. At the same time, made-in-China power banks have come under scrutiny. Two major Chinese electronics manufacturers, Anker and Romoss, recently recalled more than 1.2 million portable chargers, citing battery issues that posed a fire risk. Certain power bank models from other Chinese brands, including Baseus and Ugreen, have also had their CCC certification suspended or revoked in recent months over safety concerns, according to local news reports. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/east-asia/china-ban-power-bank-uncertified-domestic-flights-fire-risk-5206791 ↡ Advertisement 3
Carbon82 Moderator June 29 Share June 29 Wife just back from China on 27 June and they did check and remind her about the 3C certification requirements for powerbank effective 28 June. She asked me what is 3C, I also scratch my head (I thought was CE & FCC, just nice 3 'C') so I look for my BFF, Google, and was rather surprise with what I have read. First, CCC (China Compulsory Certification) was rolled out only in Aug last year, and while many powerbank makers are still struggling to get their products certified, China suspended or revoked the CCC certification of many reputable brands, such as Anker, Ugreen, Romoss, Baseus, Amprius due to concerns with either the raw materials or circuitry design. 充电宝召回风暴剑指头部电芯供应商:多条3C认证被撤销 充电宝安全风暴持续,安克创新、安普瑞斯等多个公司3C认证被暂停 So I am wondering how many powerbank can actually make it onto a plane flying in/out of China, given the current mess, since older (as new as those sold in Q3/Q4 last year) and new powerbank produced from March till June 2025 has their CCC suspended pending further investigation. I thought our PMD, PAB, PMA scheme is f-up, but look like it is not the worst cock-up yet. Should we give some brownie points to our MOT? 2 1

Their domestic airline are suffering in reduce of passengers capacity.. now more will take the HSR. If I will to travel between Shanghai and Beijing, will also the the HSR. So much more comfortable. I once watch a youtube on their HSR. Even possible to order KFC delivery into the train. Basically it will be delivered at next station stop from the KFC there.. which is so amazing.

Not sure whether it is CCC related I just bought a 145W 20000mah powerbank from Baseus Singapore on 27 June, before learning about the CCC requirement. Waited anxiously for it arrival, and unfortunately it does not carry the CCC mark... But I got it very cheap (~$30 nett), so no regrets (just don't let my wife know 😛 ) On 6/29/2025 at 11:52 AM, Jman888 said: only domestic flights in China or any flight in/out China? only apply to airlines company of China? Supposedly only on domestic flights but seems that checks are performed at international airport too (the one my wife board her plane) so better be safe. Anyway, in China, can always rent powerbank on the go, typically ~3 - 5 RMB an hour, inexpensive. @Tohto when I visited Xiamen and Fuzhou in 2012 (no typo), my friend upon knowing that I like the mee suah I had in Fuzhou, order it online, and it was delivered to the doorstep within 3 hours. The courier guy told me he travels by rails. 2

Reported at the nearer station control and within 5,6 hours she got it back (same day) from her last disembarked station lost and found counter. Foc somemore. No courier fees. Apparently using the train company internal courier system.
Sosaria Twincharged June 30 Share June 30 So now for lithium ion or polymer batteries, require UL, CE and now CCC certification also? It's just money-making selling stamps. Generally, these standards should come together and try to harmonize. The CCC certification is new thus many manufacturers of powerbank are struggling to get their items certified. Not just new, but existing items as well. From my point of view, if it already has the CE mark, can pretty much rest assured. As without this certification, the products cannot be exported/sold in EU. This CCC mark was likely introduced to control the numerous brands/products that are produced and sold domestically, thus do not even have CE mark - as can see, their focus is on domestic flights. In any case, onboard aircraft there is USB charging point. If you really need a powerbank, have to purchase or standby one at your destination.
Krieger 5th Gear June 30 Share June 30 China is slowly moving into products/label conquering. ITs normal and more standards requirements coming from their side. Same as what Europe does, those ISO and stuff. End of the day, its about earning money from getting consumers to buy items of China standards. A form of rebuying.

This type pay and ship by sea. I would only risk bringing onboard cheapo batteries. PS I also suspect the 安检 fellow has some power tools using the same batteries.... Jamesc Hypersonic Sunday at 03:12 PM Share Sunday at 03:12 PM Please stop putting power banks in the overhead bins on planes. Please keep in pocket so if it catches fire the stewardess will know and can put it out! Airlines in Japan to ban storing power banks in overhead lockers Japan’s transport ministry announced new air safety regulations that require passengers to keep power banks in plain sight and not in overhead bins to mitigate fire risks on board. https://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/15884474 ↡ Advertisement
