Wah surprises after surprises from BYD. I know they have this model and many other models in their own market but didn't expect they export this model out so fast!

But having seen the interior photos and exterior styling. This model actually looks abit tip toey and again the dashboard design is the same template (low central air vents). Luckily our market Seal facelift model do not receive the same dashboard design as their domestic market one because ours are much more interesting in design as their pre-facelift Seal. Even the Sealion DMi has a more interesting dashboard design than most of BYDs latest offerings.

I think the look abit like the B8 Passat. OK looking but a bit bland.

But, as usual, they really like to mess with the names. This is actually the Qin L EV, not the same as the Seal 6 EV in China.

Good thing for our SG market is this one actually has a 110kW version from the factory, no need to artificial nerf to 100kW.

I think it’s probably time that LTA admits it screwed up yet again with CAT A, with 130hp/110kw(electric).

With handicap vehicles you cap at $20k omv but for CAT A, cannot. LTA will be the downfall of this country!

Nobody can “manage” LTA.

2 of Deputy CE has been there for more than 15 years old.

Yet another model from SG's national car brand. Cat A heading for 150k....

Why is BYD able to sell the Seal 6 at a lower price, while a basic Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6NA costs around $190K for the entry model and nearly $198K for the top variant?

Is BYD still making a profit at that price point, whereas other traditional brands can’t seem to lower theirs? Is it because BYD’s cars are cheaper to manufacture in China, benefit from lower import duties, or gain an advantage from EV rebates?

Why the trend of sudden shift from sedan to SUV since Vezel/HR-V few years ago? The normal 2024/2025 seal still quite a number on the road, quite nice looking too! Definitely a better drive than SUV due to lower ride higher and more stable.

@Fellows it’s because of the rebate that reduces the ARF, which in turn reduces the selling price.

and also, the OMV is pathetic. Just take a look at the SL6.

SL6 is an EOL model.  That's why OMV is pathetic.

Dolphin OMV is $29k.

I also feel that the high OMVs for EV (which is why the rebates are given) is mostly due to the cost of the batteries.

It should be around US$150/kwh.  Maybe 1/3 of the OMV.

but the range is 1000km .. is it enjoying a 1.5L roadtax?

About the road tax, the SL6 is $1153/yr.

The competitor, Jaecoo J7 PHeV is $1096, despite fitting with a 1.5t engine with the total BHP and torque higher then SL6, and fitted with the same 18.3 kWh battery

However, the road tax for J7 is lesser. Am I missing something??
