Ruffy Neutral Newbie August 6, 2003 Share August 6, 2003 i have heard that the onboard computer for the gearbox are not very responsive under urban conditions. This is especially so in 1st/2nd gears during traffic jam. is it true? any owner in sg have any comment on it?! ↡ Advertisement

Ruffy Neutral Newbie August 8, 2003 Author Share August 8, 2003 yeah..just had a test drive yesterday..the engine is fantastic but i find that when i change gear manaully from 1 to 2, the reponse is not so fast..same as using automatic.. they have only one left (blue) which is made in thailand. i don't like the color and if it is made in italy, it costs more but it lacks leather seat, cd changer... Throttleb Neutral Newbie August 8, 2003 Share August 8, 2003 In a way, it is like an automatic because of the actuator driven by a selsepeed pump. this controls the clutch action replacing your left foot to depress clutch. You cant half clutch like conventional manuals and have toi modulate pressure to get the speed. if you are lookin for a refined drive, this may not be your cup of tea. to get the "groove', you have to rev the car. Low end torque is not its forte. The steering is pretty pin point with good meaty feel and chassis is pretty tight.
Throttleb Neutral Newbie August 8, 2003 Share August 8, 2003 BTW, I believe that the selespeed ECU can be trained to shift faster and learns drivers shifting habits. I generally dont have a problem with upshifts but to me down shifts are not that fast as i want to be. If you get it past 4000rpm, it will be faster. if you are tooling around at say 2000rpm, car thinks you are not in a hurry and shifts slower, Try ist to 2nd at ard 600rpm, you will se how much faster it reacts.. in fact go and whack the MASSA car to REDLINE and let it shift for you. Contact Gordon at Ubi for this Mike... care to give your 2 cts.
Cloverleaf Neutral Newbie August 8, 2003 Share August 8, 2003 selespeed ECU can't learn driver's habit. the reason why it shifts faster at higher rpm and slower at lower rpm is because each time it changes gears, it is doing a perfect shift, or rather perfect match of revs, which explains why people always feel there is a pause between gears, which sitting there doing nothing, no clutch or anything. try to duplicate the exact action when driving a manual car, to get the smoothest possible gear changes without any jerks, try to match revs perfectly every gears on upshifts and you will know what i mean. engage the gears on a manual car faster and you will have a jerky ride, but selespeed does it perfect and smoother for you each and every time. hope i didn't confused you. if you are, next time we meet i show you why. Throttleb Neutral Newbie August 8, 2003 Share August 8, 2003 The reason why I suspected it did is everytime my wife takes the car for a few days, I shifts like ,prob because she uses city mode most of the time. sometimes I take out the -ve terminal on the battery to reset the ECU and i got a smoother change BTW, Can i try the shims for the pads.. theyre squealing.
