LTA always says that anything in the car that is not original from the factory when the car is being type approved is illegal..... so technically speaking, the air freshener you clipped to your aircon vent is also illegal :P

Well, I am interstedin the color wires I have to interface and also the alarm color wire to inteface it in order that the alarm and doors locks work when the engine is runing with the turbo timer.

Has anybody of the Octavia Turbo owners here has intalled one in his car???

anyway, what harm is there in installing a turbo timer?

it does nothing but times the shutting down of the engine.

so there's nothing to fear.

if a turbo timer is an illegal modification and gets you into trouble,

I will be put behind bars very soon because of my stuffed toys and cup holders.

its pretty obvious what can be allowed and what can't.

its even better if you can justify your reasons for doing what you do to the legal authorities.

saf rule is do anything you want, but don't get caught.

common sense comes into play as well.

why do you think the LTA FAQ is so vague?

that's cos they cannot possibly answer every question everyone throws at them.

are you planning to install it on your own?

have you already bought it? what brand/model?

it'll probably install the same way as others.

R4 did an excellent job of installing it to work my alarm system (unlike the crappy work I got from some people who screwed up both the timer and the alarm).

I know how tyo intall it. I already intall one in a Eclipse Turbo.

I just need to know tha color and location of the Alarm wire I have to inteface in order that the factory alarm work.

Can you talk with your friend and find this info?

Do you have to do emission testing once in a while? If not, you can put in test pipe, down pipe, or whatever they are called, to replace cat converter.. U probably won't get caught, as police won't look under everyone's car.

Anything other than stock is illegal??

What about things that wears out, like struts, springs? Performance springs are springs too. In short, anything that boosts your ego in amount that alarmed LTA off is not good.. They will give you good humbling... [whip][whip][smash][smash]

Just read through the FAQ..

Basically, anything that alters the performance of your engine is prohibited, the reason is that the safety of the car will be compromised, for example, the brakes cannot handle the altered engine.

That's too bad, LTA assumes that no one is smart/responsible enough to care for their own safety when modifying cars.

Apparently, every non stock part that you put on your car must be approved by the LTA (bike rack?).. In case you get into some accidents with those stuffs on your car, they might use this chance to nail it on you... Yes, even the air freshener..

Inspection during 10 year period.

After 3 yrs

After 5 yrs

Yearly for the next 5

Depending on which inspection centers u send your car to, you can get away with a modified exhaust.

There are other ways to go around it either, all u need is $$$ [rolleyes]

Unless you're unlucky and you're stopped by mobile ROV or escorted on the spot for inspection nearby (complete with technician in tentage)

Technically speaking... anything that wears out should be replaced with the original parts including springs, etc. Lowering springs will reduce height clearance and will be deemed illegal as well.
