Newbie Here. Qn regarding Lexus ES300

Just discovered this board. Great read!

 

I am considering the Lexus ES300 and wonder if anyone has got any personal experience with the car. The new price of S$162K is quite good but I noticed that the car really depreciates a lot. For a 1+ year old car, the asking is between $120-$130K. That is a lot of money lost in a year, man! Because of the much lower cost of a 2nd hand car, I am thinking of getting it 2nd hand instead of new. Why does the price seem to drop so much more compared to other cars?

 

I have heard some comments regarding problems with the car and also relatively high maintenance cost. Can anyone comment. Thanks.

The more expensive the car is, the more depreciation. Depreciation is the greatestin the 1st yr. My friend exported his s-class and lost $140k in 3.5yrs.
