I bot altis in mid- 2015 & also bot toyota infinity shield for extended 5 years warranty plus discounts for service package & parts.

And  hav gone to Borneo for servicing regularly, last service was 80k milleage.

Recently my car engine mal-function light blink, car jerk. Sent for Borneo check showed ignition coils burned. Each coil cost abt $300. But Borneo refused to honour the 5 years warranty, citing even though I serviced only at Borneo, I did not follow the 10k millage rule for servicing, they penalised me thay my every 12k/13k millage servicing record, hence I have to pay for the cost of ignition coil.

Its useless to have the 5 years warranty. Never bother to servicing at Borneo, outside workshop cheaper.

In fact the CCCS that enforced Singapore competition act stated so long servicing record at outside workshop maintained, dealer like Borneo has to honour warranty.

My case even servicing at Borneo, they use unreasonable reason to force me pay during warrranty.

Your car 4 year old, ignition coil already kaput? Any reason why this happened?

Reliability & quality of service support at Toyota Svc Ctrs is truly questionable (referenced to my negative experience with the latest Harrier):

1. The Harrier emblem had to be replaced 3x within a year (brand new car). The latest is the 3rd x and despite being assured by Leng Keng that they will give some priority to my case, I have not heard from them in more than 2 mths!

2. When I called the Svc Ctr, I was put on hold for almost 10mins n it could not locate the person handling my case. I am inclined to escalate this matter up to Jasmmine Wong, the MD. But I doubt at that lvl, there wld be time to deal w customers unhappiness or feedback. So I come here....prove me wrong.

3. Besides the frequently defective Harrier Emblem, I also raised to Toyota Svc Ctrs, the Harrier issue of excessive 'road feedback, vibration' of the steering wheel. Despite the obvious fault, both ctrs failed to rectify the issue. I am compelled to live with the 'trembling, shaking, steering wheel'. The ctrs only offered excuses eg..its due to tyre, electronic steering adjustment feature, there is nothing wrong etc.  I hv more than 30yrs driving experience n kn when there is an issue with the car.

4. Toyota Svc Ctrs did nothing to address point 3. I totally agreed that its pointless, n valueless for Borneo Motors to boast of a 5yr warranty when it had no intention to rectify faults (above) raised by customers.

5. The Harrier also "body roll" excessive. I have driven other suvs before. Frankly, Harrier's body roll takes the cake!  If driving comfort is what u want, n u dun wish to get seasick, avoid the Harrier at all cost.

Based on my experience, I would strongly advise potential customers agst being tempted by the "so called" toyota reliability n warranty. That is in the past, as with many other things.

Lastly, for the Harrier, at this price point, there are many other better options. Shop around and dont make the mistake I did.

2 cents worth of viewpoint on 2cents worth of toyota svc quality n reliability, n the Toyota Harrier.

To be honest... Toyota quality drop a lot.. worse is BM even worse...  my loyalty to Toyota shaken because of BM lousy customer attitude...  let’s see how long they can run the company this way...

Guys, I am driving a 2014 wish. 5 yrs old car already. I recently have low vibration coming out from the dash. How do i check if it is the engine mount or steering column that is shot and needs repair? Servicing was done at BM the past 5 years, warranty over, looking to go to a reasonable workshop for a check and service.

Could be engine mount, next servicing ask BM to confirm, then go get it replaced at outside workshop.

Normally engine mounting mount vibration is only noticeable when your car stop but gear still engage in drive mode. when u are driving u wont notice the vibration.

do a simple test, at stationery poition on the car and shift the gear from P to N test a few time see the vibration react differently, if yes. 99 % engine mount issue.

You got to share which phone and software.  So far,  no phone GPS can receive signal underground.   You should go find out how much it cost.  IIRC,  they told me about $150 for mine.

Most of the time I use Google map not the built in GPS which often have problem routing.

Guess some app use accelerometer to supplement GPS and can estimate position when GPS signal is lost temporarily.

Real crock of crap from Borneo. How does oil change interval have anything to do with ignition coil failure. Totally crap. I would have argued and ask them to issue me a letter stating as such and complain to toyota japan.

which is why I always say warranty  in Singapore is rubbish. However if still under manufacturers warranty you still can fight with the principal and write to them for recourse.
For local insurance covered extended warranty by workshops, buy at your own risk

Toyota investing US$400 million in flying car company

TOKYO: Japanese car giant Toyota said Thursday (Jan 16) it is investing nearly US$400 million in a company working on commercialising electric flying cars for "fast, quiet and affordable air transportation services".

The investment in Joby Aviation comes as the automaker looks to expand into new sectors as the industry rapidly transforms, with president Akio Toyoda pledging to move the firm "from a car manufacturer to a mobility company".
