Matrix FC help?

Hi All

 

Can anyone recommend any devices to cut down FC for matrix 1.6A (2004)

 

Mine is going at 400km for 40 litre which is very high compare to my previous Nissan March.

go easy on the throttle..

 

make sure OD is off..

 

plan your routes beforehand..

 

and include the highways as much as possible..

 

no hard revving as well pls..

Hi Raymond,

 

First of all do not compare Nissan March and Matrix, the weight is so much of a different. To expect Matrix to have = FC as a very much lighter March is unfair. Auto FC is always much higher. Go to www.cludhyundai.org to find out more for yourself how you can imporve in it.

HI Raymond, I think you're comparing lor-mai-kai with tua-pau in this sense... your Matrix will definitely chalk up higher FC than a March, regardless how you drive!

 

Yep, like they said, try to plan your route via highways and relax on your throttle. ALternatively, some little mods like CAI and lightened flywheel, or even changing to 14" rims may help you to save some fuel, but that would be at best, marginal.

 

The most important thing is that you enjoy your ride! March can never comes close in terms of space and comfort!

Correct We cannot compare cars FC..

I am buying Matrix for space and good for my family

I know about the FC but the car is suppose to have more space

if the FC is too high then its not enjoyable anymore unless the petrol here is subsidized like MY. there are cars that are as spacious with better FC, the only catch is a higher price tag. so its really up to individual needs. there's nothing much to help FC except to adopt taylor style of driving

Getting about 10km/lit on your car is about normal if u do about equal city & H'way driving.

 

Check your tyre air pressure about once a week to ensure enough air & do regular maintenance & servicing according to your Owners Manual. Use a good quality synthetic engine oil & ATF.

 

Pump only the required RON petrol for your car to make sure u don't pay more than necessary.

 

And the best fuel saving device avaliable if basically your right foot.

I think what u mean is "The O/D is ON". (The "O/D Off" light IS OFF)

 

If it's OFF then u will b using a lower gear than necessary when cruising, which will lead to a higher FC.

10km/l ? Thats quite acceptable for Matrix. You should be quite happy already... My family's Matrix 1.6A (also 2004)is getting 7 - 9km/l.

Just a reminder that Matrix was never recognised as an economical car. Don't expect her to return fantastic mileage... just acceptable mileage would be good enough!

more space? i realised that the boot space cant even put my golf bag flat on the floor!!!

 

my previous ride, EP80 Starlet (small little 1.0L car), can already put 2 golf bags flat in the boot!! i was disappointed with Matrix.........

Raymond,

 

Don't waste your $ adding gadgets. IMHO, gadgets are for more power (not economy), more power means poorer milage.

 

My milage is also between 10-11 km/l (non-aggressive driving style, using 95 RON, most of the times with 1 driver + 1 kid). I found that higher temp selection (just above the red range) + higher fan speed setting for the air-con seemed to improve FC.

You mean you set the aircon temp dial above the red range ? Doesn't this make the air more warm instead of cool ?

engine bay very hot for Matrix. Do C.A.I. tube to the stock airfilter-box, and with light right-footed, it may help on FC but not much.......
