Yes, the Altima is a Cefiro.

However, the US Maxima, while is based on the Cefiro, is not a Cefiro.

Prior to the Altima (i.e. no Altima), the US Maxima is a Cefiro.

However, the new Altima, based on the current Teana/Cefiro, will only be available in the US in the middle of 2006.

Here are the Altima models you can expect:

1. Altima 2.5 = Teana 250

2. Altima 2.5 AWD = Teana 250 Four

3. Altima 3.5 = Teana/Cefiro 350

The Maxima will only be available with the 245hp detuned VQ35DE, which is shared by the Altima and the Teana/Cefiro.

The Infiniti M is also based on a Cefiro platform but with totally different equipment. 3.5L or 4.5L, 5 sp auto, different trim. But from the side view, you can tell that the base platform is Cefiro.

(WASHINGTON) — ( Oct 14 ) Nissan is recalling more than 220,000 vehicles over a faulty latch that could cause the hood to fly open.

The recall affects 2013 Nissan Altimas manufactured between March 6, 2012 and Feb. 28, 2013.

According to documents posted Friday on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website, “interference between the hood inner panel and the secondary latch lever [in these vehicles], in combination with debris and corrosion, may cause the secondary hood latch to bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed.”
