I used to have one some 10 over years, which is like an egg shapre type. Whenever, it is dirty on the inside, formed by dust...etc. Such sound is heard. Open it up and clean it.

i think dirt bridge the live high voltage section to become like a park-plug so giving that sound..... guess cleaning helps.
