Case in point. Watch the guy who is trying to demonstrate Volvo's City Safety system which would automatically jam the brakes if it detects a vehicle or a large obstacle in front at a standstill or moving slowly in the same direction. Unfortunately, the silly guy does not know that the system does not detects humans and he proceeds to test it on poor guy in pink. We hope he did not sustain any major injuries...

For your info, Volvo does actually have a Pedestrian Detection system which would have worked in the above demo but alas, the XC60 used in the video was not fitted with it.

Ouch!! Even the manufacturers would use mannequins to demonstrate, not real people!

Not the first time it's happened though:

Can never trust technology too much, still best to be operated by a human.

  • Carpark Review: Junction 8

Built in the 1980s, Bishan (or Bishan New Town) may not be one of the earliest housing estates in Singapore, but it was the first whose HDB architecture saw a departure from the more brutalist designs of the past and featured more variation in height and design.  Residents are primarily served by Junction 8, which opened in 1993. Now more than 30 years old, it remains the sole mall in the Bishan East area. Driving there? Here’s our quick review of the carpark.  Manoeuvrability: T
