  1. Every year, my children's primary school would conduct a psle briefing for parents. What I was told was, markers will always first look out for key words and award points to key words first, then they will go into the content and look for acceptable answers. Keywords alone won't give you the full marks, neither will having no keywords. So they were looking for keywords and a short few sentences write up kind of answers to award the most points, but keywords certainly gets more. Things might have changed over the years, and the focus on our education system might have also shifted. However, we cannot disregard the fact that changes take time to be accepted, and with many teachers in the system doing the same thing every year over the last xx years, you won't be able to do a complete system change over night. What he is saying is what the top wants to do, what we are facing is what is happening on the ground, it happens to every big organization, same same everywhere. There are like thousands, if not tens of thousands of ppl involve in the whole system, and not everyone can follow a new system well, 有人的地方就会有是非 mah.
  2. Err.. I understand perfectly well that he is saying. U need to understand what I am saying…. Since when did I say keywords are not accepted???? I said no keywords no points, ie keywords are essential for marks to be given and are heavily emphasized in school. I am saying the school marking schemes focus on keywords. No one focus on conceptual understanding, maybe his neighbourhood school does what he says but I wonder how well his students fair in science psle if they don’t focus on key words… I don’t think who he is matters at all as to whether what he is saying is *** .
  3. I think you need to calm down, take a deep breath, and watch the video again. The CM said: “Marking schemes don’t focus on keywords. Marking schemes focus a lot more on conceptual understanding”. That means, even if the student doesn’t provide the keyword, it is ok. As long as the student demonstrates the understanding, marks are still given. This is actually beneficial to the students as they are not penalized for not knowing, or stating the keywords. He did not mention that keywords are NOT accepted in the marking scheme. He is a school principal who had undergone rigorous criteria, training and experience to get to his position today. I don’t think it’s proper etiquette for you to write off “this guy” as a load of <whatever you mean> just because you misconstrued the meaning of his words in your anger.
  4. May not be the captain, as there were reportedly two harbour pilots on board. They are locals who are familiar with the waters around their harbour and would pilot large vessels into open waters. However, if claims of mechanical failure are true, the focus will fall onto the maintenance of the ship……
  5. Same path but realized at the end… focus on the road and gave up my search. Best is place at cup holder if really need be..
  6. That area always lots of ppl. Must be super focus while driving.
  7. I was in such a situation as OP described last year. The meat in the sandwich Traffic had slowed to negotiate a left turn at a busy junction of CBD. Car behind me (yes, a VW driven by expat) was distracted and hit my car's rear and pushed me to ding the PHV in front. Luckily not expressway speeds, all can drive away. I had only a front camera installed but luckily it showed how I had stopped behind the phv momentarily due to traffic condition, split second before got ram from behind. Easy fight for my insurer because no fuss and didn't pay a cent while still retaining my NCD. Only hassle was being contacted by TP IO later and told to lodge an e-report. The phv in front probably made a police report as he had a passenger onboard during the collision. End up, the last car's driver was fined for traffic offence (as the TP informed me later) - on top of being slaughtered by his insurance on the next renewal. Credit to that driver though, although an expat, he was by-the-book, reported accordingly and responsibly. Moral : keep safety distance and focus on the road always.
  8. classical cup tie, really a game of smash and grab. Both sides rolled the dice and Utd prevailed, no thanks for some mistakes committed by Pool's players at critical juncture of the game. Not overly worried being of the cup although it would have given another chance of a pep-klopp classic. Pool can focus on the Europa and EPL for the rest of the season which is, not a bad thing after all. City would have the FA cup and UCL tough fixtures to navigate so there will be further pressures on their energy and focus. Likewise for Arsenal who was given a tough draw against Bayern in the UCL. Pool? it has the rub on the green in the terms of its Europa league quarters and semis. It can probably keep its squad fresh for the run-in so this minor advantage needs to be capitalised. There are some unhelpful rumours that 3 forwards have picked up some minor injuries - Diaz (groin), Nunez (ham) and Gapko (ankle). Hope these are minor and they can all be back after the internationals.
  9. I would like to compare the abovementioned models. 1) Pricing 2) FC 3) Handling 4) Size 5) Appearance 6) Maintenance Cost like spare parts. I like both the car design especially Opel Astra 1.6 Twinport. Was considering of Toyota Altis and my friend strongly reccomend on Ford Focus in terms of handling. The pricing is higher than Altis if I'm not wrong. But how much higher? Astra got all the cost rebate, free insurance, etc. So in the end not sure of the selling price. Too confused. Can anyone enlightened me on the pricing as well as commend on the cars. Thks alot.
  10. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/ucars-lays-off-staff-replaces-ceo-after-being-served-legal-notice-for-debts SINGAPORE - Barely five years after it started in mid-2019, a car portal set up to challenge incumbent sgCarMart is skidding towards an uncertain future. UCars has been served a notice of demand – a legal letter – by directors of its holding company, 21 United Holdings, to repay more than $400,000. The notice was served in late January 2024. UCars confirmed that it has received it and is in the process of “verifying the amount” before working out a repayment schedule. Soon after the notice was filed, UCars chief executive Hong Chun Mun stepped down from the helm. He was replaced by Mr Wynton Lee, a 30-year-old from Farquhar VC, which has invested in UCars and is now its second-largest shareholder after 21 United Holdings. Several directors at 21 United Holdings have also stepped down. They include former chairmen Eddie Loo and Albert Neo, as well as other founding members who were among some 40 used-car dealers who came together in 2018 to form a venture to challenge Toyota-owned sgCarMart, which they felt was competing directly with them. In mid-2019, 21 United Holdings set up UCars, an online portal with listings of used and new cars for sale. UCars then acquired motoring publications CarBuyer and Top Gear Singapore in 2021 from businessman Leow Ju-Len for an undisclosed sum, in an apparent bid to replicate the “editorial content” which sgCarMart has. None of the directors and former directors The Straits Times spoke with wanted to be quoted by name. But an insider said troubles began around three years ago, with mounting losses and eroding shareholder funds. “It’s basically a management issue,” the insider added. “The revenue stream from advertising and events did not materialise. We were burning $300,000 a month.” As a result, some of the staff at CarBuyer and Top Gear were owed salaries. Eventually, the entire team of close to 10 people from the two publications were laid off in February. Two of them have since rejoined, but have been put on a profit-sharing scheme. Over the last 12 months or so, more than 20 others in the UCars team have also left. ST understands that only half a dozen remain now, down from a peak headcount of around 50. Two floors of office space occupied by UCars in Ayer Rajah Crescent have been given up. “We’ve brought costs down to $20,000 a month. And all the unpaid salaries are almost settled,” the insider added. “What we want to do now is to press the reset button.” He said UCars will retain the CarBuyer title, but will give up Top Gear. According to the insider, the company is in the process of appointing a new corporate secretary, and will focus on growing revenue from another business it acquired three years ago – Pcom-SSB, an accounting software provider which several car dealers use. He said previous plans to list UCars on a stock exchange have been put on hold.
  11. The problem is as common as seeing people pee into bottles whilst trying cross the causeway at CNY or any long weekend, and yet....... It is clear infrastructure cannot keep up with charging requirements hence recent delays in implementing the ICE bans, and some people's new focus on other solutions such as hydrogen and synthetic fuels. I believe if we had invested as much in these two solutions as invested in BEV, we would be in an environmentally better place without sacrificing user friendliness.
  12. Entry-level BEV from Škoda, Epiq. Small becomes epic: Škoda Auto has revealed the name of its battery-electric city SUV crossover, along with a design study showing a first glimpse of the new model. The Škoda Epiq, due to be unveiled in 2025, will cost around 25,000 euros. At 4.1 metres in length, it will feature a spacious interior and up to 490 litres of luggage capacity. The vehicle will fully incorporate the powerful, functional and authentic new Modern Solid design language – inside and out. This will be complemented by a flawless digital experience, with new technologies and assistance features. The new digital design study released by Škoda highlights key features and characteristics of the future production vehicle. At 4.1 metres in length, the Škoda Epiq city SUV crossover will have plenty of space for five people and a luggage capacity of up to 490 litres. With an entry-level price starting at around 25,000 euros, it is the perfect choice for customers new to electric mobility. It fully incorporates the powerful new Modern Solid design language – inside and out – and offers a maximum electric range of more than 400 kilometres. The new Modern Solid design language combines robustness, functionality and authenticity. The Škoda Epiq design study features a sculpted bonnet bearing a new Škoda wordmark. Its Tech-Deck Face in glossy black is a modern reinterpretation of the familiar Škoda grille and houses electrical devices like the distance radar and the front camera. The Tech-Deck Face is flanked by bifunctional, T-shaped LED elements for the daytime running lights and indicators. The front headlamps are in a lower, secondary position. Their light modules have a cubist-inspired design and feature Matrix LED technology. The robust front bumper comes with a striking spoiler painted in Unique Dark Chrome. The side view is characterised by a high, sweeping tornado line that visually separates the greenhouse from the rest of the body and emphasises the car’s powerful shoulders. The wheel arches below are picked out with a striking trim and house aerodynamically optimised wheels. The low, gently sloping roof line merges into a roof spoiler for optimal aerodynamic efficiency. The rear also features a robust bumper and Škoda lettering in Unique Dark Chrome on the tailgate. The minimalist look of the Škoda Epic design study is underlined by the matt metallic paintwork in bright Moon White. Flashy Orange detailing on the roof rails and the wheels as well as on the front and rear bumpers add visual interest. The Škoda Epiq will be the first production vehicle to feature a minimalist Modern Solid interior focusing on durable, practical and sustainable materials. It has an open storage compartment that includes a wireless mobile phone charger in the free-floating centre console as well as Simply Clever compartments for even more storage options. The boot also benefits from some of the brand’s hallmark Simply Clever details such as bag hooks, cargo elements, fastening hooks and a hidden underfloor compartment. The two-spoke steering wheel showcases the new Škoda lettering as well as physical buttons and haptic scroll wheels with Flashy Orange accents to control key functions while driving. The mobile digital key enables a wide range of interactions via the customer’s smart device, thus enhancing the user’s digital experience. This underlines the consistent customer focus of Škoda’s “mobile first” approach designed to make drivers’ everyday lives easier. The Škoda Epiq also supports bidirectional charging, transforming the car into a rolling energy storage unit that can feed excess electric energy into the customer’s home and other appliances. The Škoda Epiq will be a milestone in Škoda history, which is emphasised by its distinctive and easily recognisable name. It fits perfectly into the nomenclature of Škoda’s BEV SUV models: the E at the beginning stands for a battery-electric Škoda model, while the Q at the end identifies it as a member of the brand’s SUV family. Epiq is derived from the ancient Greek word “epos”, which stands for “word” or “verse”, but also for “tale” or “poem”. The name evokes positive associations such as amazing, great, extraordinary and remarkable. With its clever features and versatility, the Škoda Epiq aims to fulfil the needs of both family- and lifestyle-oriented customers. The city SUV crossover will be made in Pamplona, Spain, as a joint development and production project of Volkswagen’s Brand Group Core representatives Škoda, Cupra and Volkswagen. Škoda Auto is committed to investing billions of euros into its transformation towards e-mobility in the coming years. The Škoda Elroq, a battery-electric compact SUV, will be the first vehicle to be launched as part of the upcoming electric model campaign, with its debut scheduled for later this year.
  13. If have to lose one of the 4 cups this is the one to lose. This loss will have focus the mind. Man U were hungrier just like ETH's first game against us in BKK. Arsenal beat us because they were hungrier. Both games we deserved to lose. We beat Chelsea because we were hungrier. Also our best players are our kids. Against Man City it was Quansah, Bradley and Elliot that took the fight to City and got Kyle Walker to make the mistake.
  14. Precisely its the desire to go all the way to 1947-1948 that the wars will never stop. Never. You lose tens and tens of thousands on this side and that side. When will it all add up to say OK, enough, equal numbers of deaths per category, we are even now. Initially the lands were still substantial for the Palestines. Then they got into some wars and lost more lands. With each war they started, they lost even more lands. Is Israel expected to return all the lands lost in wars? Like play masak masak. Surely, most of the Arab countries can see the issues more clearly than us. Heck, some of them are victims themselves when they were dragged into the wars started by the Palestines. Initially I did not understand why they not helping or just give some lands or shelter to the Palestines. The betrayal, mistrust and troubles earned from helping them were very painful. And no less from fellow same faith brethren. History keeps records of wrongdoings on both sides and many others. How to have real peace when one side's sole purpose of existence is the total destruction and elimination of Israel. Why won't the world understand this important motivation? Its not willing to accept a 2-states solution. NO GO. Isn't Anwar also one sided? Put both sides' views together. Is it possible to have a solution? How? Give all lands occupied by Israel to Palestines? Then Israel go where? Go die in the Red Sea? Israel became an independent State in 1948. Goodness, Anwar should consider not just 60 years history if really want to talk about it. Who are the Palestines? What are their roots? He might be hard put to acknowledge that Israel is half- brother in blood with the Muslim world. Guess blood is thicker than water is Kosong talk with him. Fortunately, there are some Arab states that did not forget this drop of blood. I focus on 7 October incident, that one incident and that victim simply because it was started on a very peaceful and restful day. It happened during my time. 60 years ago I do not have the access to news/information and the Japanese kept us very frightened and busy. Yada-ing. Always 3 sides to a coin. Whichever side I take, that part of the world will not have peace. Last I read, Hamas wants to exchange hostages, 600-700 including 100 on the "death row" iirc. for how many Israeli hostages? Haiz. Peace is very precious. What will the world look like if ALL countries return or claim lands lost in wars? Go back all the way to the beginning. And how many lives were lost. Why stop at 60 years?
  15. Samsung and Huawei crush Apple's smartphone global market share It wasn't long ago that it looked like Apple would overtake Samsung to grab the biggest chunk of the global smartphone market. But now the company has been pushed into third place by Huawei. By Adrian Kingsley-Hughes for Hardware 2.0 | May 6, 2019 -- 07:32 GMT (15:32 GMT+08:00) It's funny how quickly things can change. Three months ago it seemed like Apple was on track to grab the global smartphone market share crown from Samsung, only to be shoved into third place by Chinese maker Huawei. What does this mean for Apple? Here's a chart that tracks the fight between Apple, Samsung, and Huawei over the past five quarters (courtesy of Bloomberg, based on IDC data): Well, on a totally business front, market share and revenue (and profits) are two separate things, and it might be foolish to focus too heavily on market share. Look at the dollars and cents, if we take the last quarter revenues and profits, it's clear that market share isn't everything. Samsung - Revenue: $44.7 billion | Profits: $5.3 billion Huawei - Revenue: $26.8 billion | Profits: $2.1 billion Apple - Revenue: $58 billion | Profits: $11.6 billion See how revenue and profits tell a different story. But this doesn't mean that Apple shouldn't be worried. The key to Apple's business is market share. The bigger and more robust market share it can create, the more loyal its customers are, and the more it can sell to them in terms of services and accessories that both help to drive profits and lock users deeper into the ecosystem. The more handsets Samsung and Huawei sell, the harder it becomes for Apple to expand its ecosystem. The companies may even be able to grab customers away from Apple – especially at the bottom end, where consumers are more sensitive to price – further eroding Apple's iOS ecosystem. Another thing to bear in mind is that the Huawei effect hits Apple at the core of a vulnerable market – China. Apple has been eyeing China for years now, seeing it as the perfect venue to cause a market explosion. But this effect hasn't materialized. And with increased pressure from the likes of Huawei, it now seems unlikely. And this could, in the longer term, become a much bigger problem, especially as iPhone sales are going soft all round. And if Huawei is right, and it is able to grab 50% of the smartphone market share in China, and take the global market share top spot away from Samsung by 2020, this could squeeze the iPhone even more. While it's never wise to try to predict the future in too much detail, it's hard to not come to the conclusion that Apple's woes are only just beginning, and that the company's focus on services and things like credit cards might be happening at just the right time.
  16. Why aren't the UN and all concerned nations not putting pressure on Hamas to release all hostages? Focus on this. Aren't the hostages humans? Once these are released, Israel is in a very difficult and unfavorable place to continue with attacks on Gaza. Leaders of Hamas dun wan to cos the aids and money will then stop flowing in. The common people is taken care of by concerned nations, while the leaders can continue to live in luxury and comfort in Qatar. No, they not keen to wait for virgins in heaven when they can now enjoy these on earth. They let own brainless, clueless and blind brudders do all the sacrifices. Release the hostages. Now. Its the quickest solution to end the war. They dun know? World leaders and UN dun know? Where is the serious call to release the hostages? Where is the pressure on Hamas to do so? Yada-ing.
  17. Thank you for a nice evening and the great seats.. The food place was called Black and White - very decent food at very nice prices. The movie was not at the level of Ford Vs Ferrari though, and the Gold Class seats were too comfortable, so I got really sleepy.. Long day, so didn't interact with the bros... headed home to crash... thank you Jack Cars, SG and all for the event. Not Ford vs Ferrari for sure More like a budget Netflix show Not enough intensity and focus Eg the rival was more like mild pepper than scalding hot Nice seats with good food the highlight was actually seeing and sitting in the ZRV.. spacious but seats a bit too low slung Ala civic for my liking Cheers
  18. https://www.liverpool.com/liverpool-fc-news/features/liverpool-transfer-klopp-michael-edwards-27367894#amp-readmore-target Found it. Klopp a sentimental individual while Edward more of a statistician. Apparently Edward was against the blanket extension to those aging players. Quoted from the article above. -------------------------- As per Sky Sports' Melissa Reddy, members of the club's recruitment team were pointing out that 'the squad was veering away from the right football age'. They questioned the strategy of 'blanket contract extensions' given that almost all of the players in question 'had multiple seasons of exacting football taking its toll on their bodies and minds'. It seemed unthinkable at the time that Liverpool wouldn't extend the key contributors to its Champions League and Premier League success. But perhaps the club needed to be more ruthless. Indeed, to focus on the specific example of Henderson, then-sporting director Michael Edwards' team of analysts reportedly urged FSG to prioritize business sense over sentimentality (via The Telegraph). Henderson had already turned 31 and they justifiably felt it unwise to commit large sums of money to a long-term extension. In the end, though, Klopp made a 'critical intervention' to secure a new deal for his captain, a move that has backfired.
  19. With the new NCAP safety focus, this ERP 2.0 again takes another step back from currency... https://www.motortrend.com/news/new-car-interior-touchscreen-euro-ncap-safety-testing/ Here's the reasoning behind the new testing guidelines as described by Matthew Avery, director of strategic development at the car safety body Euro NCAP, via The Sunday Times: "The overuse of touchscreens is an industry-wide problem, with almost every vehicle-maker moving key controls onto central touchscreens, obliging drivers to take their eyes off the road and raising the risk of distraction crashes. New Euro NCAP tests due in 2026 will encourage manufacturers to use separate, physical controls for basic functions in an intuitive manner, limiting eyes-off-road time and therefore promoting safer driving." All the reaching over to passenger side to fiddle with cashcard and distracting huge screen, will LTA monitor the situation?
