  1. @Benarsenal Oh yes,my Relative wanted to book a Mercedes Benz CLS Hearse, but end up getting the Vito Van Hearse...
  2. Yes, like it was mentioned earlier, its not for the driver but for the passengers. Let me elaborate. Hitherto the chaufferred can hope into the rear of a luxury sedan (think S-class, 7-series) or lately, luxury SUVs (think Range Rover). Spacious though they may be, the rear seats of these cars still has space constraints. You are still seated fixed in place. An MPV, especially a 4-seater version of the Lexus LM, allows absolute space and a total freedom of movement, and as such, is a paradigm shift for luxury road travel. Like homes and properties, space is luxury. The seats can be reclined to an almost horizontal angle. Ingress and egress is a more elegant affair compacted to a low slung sedan or a tall SUV. You step in, and step out. One may say that a converted Merc Vito or Sprinter is even bigger, but their roots are embedded in a van chassis, so unlikely to be as refined as a car-based MPV.
  3. @thiq_ hi bro I know this is a pre-covid thread and things may have changed a lot. Just wondering if you still have been driving your vito into Malaysia recently (since border opened) and how does that differ before covid? I also own a vito that doesn't look like a van except that it comes with a g plate, so just wanna get more insights from you before trying to bring my kids over to Malaysia in our "camper" van. Thanks if you're still active here in this forum. 🙏
  4. Vito seems to be under powered. I have seen Vito blowing black smoke, but the Vito mini bus that fetched us in SA was OK.
  5. https://cartriple.com/mercedes-models-with-a-renault-engine/ 8 Mercedes Models Equipped With An Engine From Renault A, B, C, CLA, GLA, GLB, Citan and Vito. Why Does Mercedes Use Renault Engines? The story of Mercedes using Renault engines started in 2010, when Daimler (the parent company of Mercedes-Benz) entered a ‘strategic agreement’ and acquired a stake of 3.1% in Renault and 3.1% in Nissan. (Source) In return, the Renault-Nissan alliance got a stake of 3.1% in Daimler. The agreement enabled sharing and co-development of petrol and diesel engines, which allowed the companies to reduce costs and increase economies of scale. It resulted in the development and sharing of the Mercedes OM607, OM608, OM622, and M282 engines. I dont recall merc making engines with capacity less than 1.8L be it petrol or diesel before 2010. They have to work with other car makers who makes a lot of small capacity engines like Renault. The French are infamous with their small hatchbacks and small engine cars.
  6. Monkill

    Merc vito

Is there any forum for it?
  7. I’ve both driven and sat in my ex company’s Merc Vito before. No such restrictions, and yes, the van is bone stock.
  8. Alpina and old rav4. 1st gen Vito might also be extinct soon?
  9. Hi all, im interested im getting a second Vito..but my dad said he rode in one of his frens's vito and the radiator tempreture keep boiling.. Js wana ask the more experienced drivers and owners whether if this is true.. Thanx a mill!
  10. Just for discussion. I saw a PC plated Merc Vito fully loaded with passengers driven by a lady. Van displaying P-plate. Big dent on the Driver sider rear sliding door. Just wondering driver on P-plate able to obtain Vocational licence? Ps: not indicating tis driver still on probationary licence.
  11. So I am considering to buy a Excursion Bus as my personal ride. What can you tell me 1) Insurance - need public liability also right? 2) Parking fees for HDB? 3) Can be driven to Malaysia I know - but what is the process for this? 4) If get caught speeding, what is the fine like, and points? Cus will be vocational license right? 5) Once reach end of COE can renew or not? What is process like to buy new COE - considering 7 or 8 year old van, to keep purchase costs way low, then just inspect well and fingers crossed. Am considering the Vito, also quite liked the fiat when I test drove - best thing about fiat was that seats could be lifted out to make cargo van (and could take out row by row, so could have 12, 9, 6 or 3 seater depending on needs).
  12. New car news 22 March 2010 - 14:00 Coming soon: 661bhp Merc Vito AMG This is the Mercedes-Benz Vito AMG, a 661bhp, twin-turbo V12 van with... ...OK, as you've probably already guessed, it's fictional. We made it up, bodged it together with Photoshop and glue. But with good reason: Volker Mornhinweg will take charge of Mercedes' van division in April. This might sound suspiciously like Dull Corporate Suit News, but hangonatick. Mornhinweg is currently in charge of AMG, Merc's performance department responsible for such loony creations as the E63, SLS and the deranged Black Series. Mornhinweg is credited with turning AMG into the potent force it is today, a division with a steely focus on power and performance and presence and other mighty things beginning with 'P'. All of which raises the question: what's he going to do to Merc's vans? Surely it will be fast and lightly dangerous? Surely our V12 Vito AMG must be near the top of the 'to do' pile? There could even be a one-make race series, every van loaded to the brim with furniture and vases and smut. We shall call it the Vitoversteer Championship. But we reckon you can do better. Using that commenting device below, let us know your ideal Merc performance van, sparing no detail. If you're handy with the Photoshopping, feel free to mock up your own AMG van and send it to [email protected]. We might even publish the results with amusingly derogatory captions at some point in the future. Do your worst. Sam Philip http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/merc-vito-amg-2010-02-22
  13. A lot of the initial Merc Vans ( I can only remember Vito for one ) my cousin had it for only a few years KPKB like hell about it ….. was a real flop ….. stick to the Jap or even Korean is fine …… maybe even the Chinese too upcoming slowly
  14. i have friends with 4 and 5 kids so have seen how people manage it. it seems you are not sure if u will need to ferry all 5 passengers often? The thing abt changing to a big MPV/SUV that can take 7 pax is the driver might still be driving alone most of the time. And the 7 seater usually has terrible FC but that is a serious concern only if you clock high mileage regularly, so it depends on your transport needs too. For example if u stay in Pasir Ris, work in Tuas and wife is a homemaker then you'll be driving long distances in a gas-guzzler alone most of the time. Can your wife drive? If so, consider getting a 2nd normal sized car then you can use one car most of the time and then drive 2 cars out when the situation necessitates it. If not keen to buy a 2nd car as it will be rarely used, you may consider making use of the car sharing companies to augment your transport needs when necessary. However it will mean that the two drivers will not be able to baby sit the kids while driving. So it also depends on how old the kids are. Helper will have to be in the car with the kids that need the most attention. Or else, use Grab when necessary 😃 other cars to consider: kia sorento, hyundai palisade or santa fe, toyota alphard not sure if hyundai is bringing in the Staria an uncommon option is the mercedes vito in passenger car guise
  15. A private registered V-Class that isn't a maxi-cab nor a Vito van is pretty rare. Didn't manage to get a closer look, but I thought I saw V260, with a C&C badge.
  16. Oct 30, 2010 Restaurateur's jail term cut to 1 day on appeal By Selina Lum PROMINENT restaurateur Giuseppe De Vito, 38, was yesterday jailed a day and fined $3,000 for driving while banned from getting behind the wheel. The jail term was meted out by the High Court after he appealed against his sentence of six weeks' jail and a $500 fine handed down by a district court in August. The Italian, a permanent resident here who is better known as Beppe De Vito, runs Il Lido at Sentosa Golf Club and Forlino at One Fullerton. In September 2008, he was banned from driving for two years after being convicted of drink driving, running two red lights and being abusive towards a policeman. He was also fined $8,600. But in September last year, he was caught driving by a traffic police officer along Commonwealth Avenue. In August this year, he was jailed six weeks for driving under disqualification and fined $500 for driving without insurance. He was also given a three-year driving ban. But De Vito appealed to the High Court against the jail term, arguing he deserved only a fine. His lawyer Julian Tay told the High Court that after De Vito was banned from driving two years ago, he hired a full-time driver to ferry him around on weekdays. But on Sept 13 last year, his wife, who was then in the early stages of pregnancy, suddenly felt unwell and discovered she had vaginal bleeding. Mr Tay said the couple became anxious as she had been experiencing a difficult pregnancy and De Vito was thinking of how he could rush her for medical help should the bleeding continue. When he noticed that the car's petrol tank was almost empty, he decided to drive to the nearest petrol station to top it up. Shortly after driving out from their Holland Hill house, he was stopped at a spot check along Commonwealth Avenue. The lawyer said De Vito was compelled to drive as he was then faced with a medical emergency. Mr Tay added that his client has since arranged for the driver to be on duty on weekends too, and that the distance travelled was less than 1km, although Deputy Public Prosecutor Terence Chua said Google Maps gave a distance of 2.7km. The DPP argued that nothing in medical reports showed that De Vito's wife was bleeding on the day in question. He also argued that if there was a genuine medical emergency, instead of going to get a petrol top-up, De Vito would have called for an ambulance or driven his wife to the hospital immediately. The DPP also noted there were other petrol stations nearer to De Vito's home. But Justice Choo Han Teck allowed the appeal after considering the short distance travelled and De Vito's personal circumstances. But he stressed that this case was not to be used as a sentencing guideline for future cases.
  17. Wah bro Mingern, you changing car? How much they offer to trade in for your Sonata? Saw it briefly on the road a few days back, think it is a test drive unit. Very wide stance and a bit SUV-look. Should be very spacious inside. Remind me of Merc Vito, masculine-looking van, unlike some other curvy feminine look.
  18. More like the futuristic 1st Generation Estima, which was launched 30 years ago! I guess V-Class because the previous MPV variant was named Viano (and Vito for the van). Yah, the last Estima might be a hit if it come with the 240ps 2.0L turbo unit found in the IS200t, ES200t, RX200t, etc. Renault Espace is really a looker but I doubt it will be volume seller here given the fear with French reliability.
  19. Feel sorry for the Vito parked beside it
  20. Want to do, buy those van with railing on the floorboard already like those mercedes Vito one when want to Ferry people, slide in the seats into the floorboard railing safe but illegal
  21. Blue collar Malaysian workers rent HDB mostly. Rental around 1-2k type of units mostly but 150k F&B foreign workers have also left the country too, so in don't understand where the tenants are coming from. Maybe more than 150k Malaysians have moved over recently. https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/lifestyle/feature/restaurants-come-back-from-the-brink There are still challenges ahead, chief of which are manpower and no-shows, says Beppe De Vito of the il Lido group. While his Michelin-starred Braci is the top performer with business ahead of pre-Covid levels, it's tougher for his bigger concepts like Art and Amo, which don't have the big groups, functions or corporate business that they used to. "Just the other day at Amo, we had 20 no-shows out of 120 seats which is about 15 to 20 per cent," he says, adding that he's also having trouble hiring Singaporeans, estimating that 150,000 foreign F&B workers have since left Singapore. With business returning but not enough people who want to work in the industry, the tussle for workers continues.
  22. Their masaloti and Vito got hacked?
  23. My apologies. I should have posted more. In the video, we can see the camera car trying to overtake both the Mercedes Vito and the Maserati but was blocked a couple of times. Both vehicles were apparently friends or colleagues from the same company and once the Maserati managed to overtake the camera car, the Maserati jammed his brakes suddenly, causing the camera car, which we reckon from that turbo flutter and gearshift, an Audi A4, to crash into it.
