  1. What catches my attention is the see through A-pillar, glass roof as well as the near full glass hatch, which really helps in improving overall visibility (I sat in the physical car before, and can feel it for myself). Sad to say all these features (including the practical 5 door design), did not make it to the production Volvo C30. 2001 Volvo SCC Volvo Safety Concept Car makes driving that much safer The main theme of the Volvo Safety Concept Car (SCC) is "superior vision". However, the car also employs a variety of technologies that enhance personal security and improve passive safety systems. SCC thus points the way to a new dimension in the research and development of car safety. The Volvo Safety Concept Car is a vision of the developments in safety that car buyers can enjoy in the future. It is also evidence that Volvo Cars and the Ford Motor Company are at the leading edge of the development of technology for safer driving. "With the quick pace of technological development, we are constantly gaining access to smaller yet more powerful computers, new sensors and so on. Volvo’s approach is to utilise the breakthroughs in an intelligent and sensible way. We combine advanced electronics with new materials and new mechanical design solutions to create customer benefits. One example of this is the Volvo SCC and its unique enhanced all-round visibility," says Hans Gustavsson, head of research and development at Volvo Cars. "More than 90 per cent of all important information to the driver comes in the form of visual input through the windows and windscreen of the car. If we improve the quality of this visual information, we will also improve the driver’s ability to make the right decisions in difficult situations, thereby avoiding collisions." Built for the eye That is why the forward-thinking Volvo Safety Concept Car is built for the eye. Not merely in terms of aesthetic appearances and lines pleasing to the eye, but rather because the car has been designed around the driver’s eyes to ensure better vision and visibility. When the driver gets into the seat, a sensor identifies the location of his or her eyes. The seat then automatically adjusts to suit the position of the eyes so that the driver obtains the best possible field of vision. Once this is done, the floor, pedals, steering wheel and centre console, including the gear lever, all move to ensure that all the controls are within convenient reach. The driver thus enjoys the best overview of what is happening both outside the car and on the instrument panel. Number one in safety The Volvo SCC is the result of close collaboration between Volvo Cars and its parent company, the Ford Motor Company. The car, which was designed at the Volvo Monitoring and Concept Center in California, demonstrates advances in several research and development projects in the fields of safety and security. It clearly highlights the cutting-edge skills and resources the company has at its disposal. Curved B-pillars The Volvo SCC has a number of additional functions that improve visibility. The driver can see through the supporting pillars of the windscreen – the A-pillars – as a result of a metal box construction combined with see-through Plexiglass. The B-pillars – the pillars between the front and rear doors – curve inwards following the contours of the seat frame to offer an unobstructed field of vision to the offset rear. A sensor located in the outer rear-view mirrors detects the approaching vehicle and alerts the driver to vehicles in the offset rear "blind spot". In addition, rearward-facing cameras integrated into the door mirrors can show the driver what is in the blind spot. The headlight beams adapt to the road and the speed – by directing the beam in the direction that the driver is turning at a crossroads or on a corner, for example. An infrared light enhancer boosts night-time vision beyond the reach of the headlights. A forward-facing camera monitors the position of the car on the road and alerts the driver if there is any tendency to veer off course. Increased crash safety and personal security In addition, the Volvo SCC features a number of exciting features in the areas of active driving safety, crash protection and personal security. Together with the B-pillars, the front seat frames form a safety cage that is at least as effective in roll-over accidents and side-impact collisions as conventional B-pillars. The car has two different types of four-point safety belt, the X4 CrissCross Belt and the V4 Centre Buckle belt. The X4 is based on a conventional three-point belt that is supplemented with an additional diagonal chest belt. The V4 Centre Buckle Belt is a new four-point safety harness that has a centrally positioned buckle and shoulder straps that form a "V" across the chest. The rear seat has two adjustable seat cushions whose height can be steplessly altered to give children the most comfortable and the safest seating position, irrespective of their height. The remote control unit becomes a communication centre The remote control unit has been developed into the Volvo Personal Communicator (VPC) and it has a number of new features. A fingerprint sensor personalises the remote control unit. The driver only has to grasp the door handle to unlock the door – and the car can be started without a key. The VPC transmits the driver’s personal setting parameters to the car, which automatically makes the necessary adjustments to the driver’s seat, steering wheel, pedals and so on. The system can even be pre-programmed with a number of destinations so that the navigation instrument is preset at the same time as the driver unlocks the door. A heartbeat sensor registers both human and animal heartbeats when the car is parked. The sensor is activated if anyone breaks into the car and hides inside it – or if a child or pet is left inside by mistake. If the driver is more than 100 metres from the car, the VPC can still transmit this information – via a cell phone. It is also possible to transfer information from a PC or hand-held computer.
  2. 2006 - 2009 Volvo C30 (Pre-facelift) @Iamtheone yours is the W221 S350L? @DOBIEMKZ that yellow SUV should be the Mitsubishi Pajero iO. Pajero was much larger. There's a total of 3 main Pajero in different sizes, starting with the Pajero Mini (3 door Kei car version), Pajero iO (compact SUV) and Pajero (full size SUV).
  3. For previous ownership: - hyundai getz - nissan latio - subaru impreza (2010) - chevrolet optra - kia picanto (2007) - chevrolet aveo - kia cerato (2010) - Hyundai Avante 2019 - Kia Cerato 2019 For long term observation and occasional driving (friends and family) - VW passat (2014) - toyota vios (2007) - proton saga (2008) - toyota altis (2013) - skoda superb (2015) - DS4 (2015) - Renault kangoo (1997) - volvo c30 (2010) - Mercedes CLA180 (2013) - Audi A3 (2013) There may be a few more here and there but these are what I can recall from memory for the long term list, The kangoo was a particularly interesting one because the vehicle itself outlived the young owner who very sadly, passed on due to health complications last year. But yes, first ownership of a french car that I am cautiously optimistic about.

    New Volvo C30

Ford Motor Co.'s Volvo Car Corp. said Monday(10/01/05) it plans to add a new small car to its global lineup next year. In late 2006, we will introduce the smallest car in our product portfolio, Volvo president and chief executive Hans-Olov Olsson told reporters at the North American International Auto Show. The new car, called C30, will be 8 inches shorter than Volvo's mid-size S40 sedan, Olsson said. The company did not reveal the price tag of the new car. The sedan will have many of the features seen in Volvo's concept cars -- Safety Concept Car and 3CC. The Volvo 3CC, which debuted Monday at the show, is a compact car that has space for three adults or two adults and two children.

  6. At the recent Detroit Motor Show, the Ford-owned Volvo had a concept car of the upcoming new C 30 on display. Here are now photos of the production version in cold weather testing near the Arctic Circle on a frozen lake. The C 30 is an all new three door car the size of a VW Golf to be built on Ford

  10. since its based on the ford c1 platform used by the s40,v50, i believe we'll see a hatchback s40 soon...
  11. ...the Beetle’s design made it difficult for suspects who were seated at the back to escape from the vehicle. Err when is SPF going to get another 2 door hatchback / Coupé / sedan for the same reason? Maybe the 2021 Volvo C30 or BMW 2er or even Subaru BRZ?
  12. Not true, as far as I can remember, Volvo has been putting Ford’s Powershift gear box on Volvo C30, V40 and S60, on T2, D2 and T5 variants. Powershift is dual-clutch transmission gearbox.
  13. Hi All ^^ These are how i fix repainted car rear fender dent. bcoz for rear fender there is not enough space for tools access. M.benz C rear fender dents by removing brake light. This case the dent is located near to brake light. Volvo C30 rear fender. When i see the first time, it was definitely other dent smith had tried to fix before but not done well. this dent located far from brake light hence only way to fix is to drill small hole where no one can see. The hole will be covered by rubber cap similiar to the ones you can find in your car. it is not ugly at all. This method is usual in Korea, Japan, USA & Aus bcoz they want to keep the original paint. You may send me a picture of your dent to 94520995. I will give you an estimated quotation of the repair cost and professional advice.

  18. Hi All, I'm planning to look at purchasing a 2nd hand Volvo C30 2.0A (2009). Possible to provide me with some reviews ? I.e maintainence cost | fuel consumption | any major or common problems.
  19. Just need some opinion from ppl. I could well renew my ride maybe 5-10 yrs more as its a Toyota so last long should not be an issue. Another way could be a used car. I thought of Volvo C30 or a Citroen C5 around 2010 model. Their depreciation is almost on par with similar japanese makes but wins on a better image (continental luxury) so wondering if these cars are reliable and cheap to maintain if you had owned these makes before. Finance wise is comfortable to me so no issue for me to take ownership. Heard from my friend says his friend's Volvo changed radiator @ $300+ plus labor. Apparently seems cheap.
  20. Yup! because they are vw at the end of the day. similar technology. So of course it's kinda scary. WOW! I'm currently on a volvo c30 2.0a and servicing cost is about 200ishh+ Didnt think an Audi would be more expensive by so much! Ok, thats something to really consider.. and yah. the screen that pops up of the dashboard! awesome! i also read few pages back that there is a new FL coming ah? the one with the RS3 Grille!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? OOOMMMMGGGGGG!

  23. No budget get PIG-CAN-TOW Average budget get Swift, Ford Focus Good Budget get Mini. Fat budget get Volvo C30 2.5L T5 or Scirocco 2.0 TSI C30 is unique. Not very common http://www.volvocars.com/sg/all-cars/volvo...nical-spec.aspx
  24. I tested the Volvo C30 2.0-litre 145bhp, VW Scirocco 1.4 TSi 160bhp and Peugeot 308CC 1.6 turbo 156bhp...In terms of performance on the road, 1st) Scirocco 2nd) 308CC 3rd) C30... NA engine really feels lazy and no sense of urgency... So if you are talking about no replacement for displacement, this isn't true on Singapore roads.
