  1. I dunno if dealers here bring in all season tires but it's no point. The tire on the right is an offroad tire looking at the tread pattern. I drove the LR defender during my NS days and during the excercise in down under. They used Michelin model iirc. At 50km/hr it's already noisy and can feel the virbations in my butt. It's only good on dirt roads. I last time went for the one day military conversion course as I already have attained the civilian driver's license. It's for the down-under excercise, over there luckily dont have speed limit, training area too big. We could drive however fast we wanted but I drove at 80-90km/hr on dirt roads. I didnt want to flip the LR. LoL Only those driving Jeep Wranglers or Hummer will want the aesthetics of such offroad tires. Practical wise nobody else will tahan such tires on tarmac. Not saying cannot drive on them here. Tahan or not is another issue.
  2. OK lah Boss... I will try out Hummer and Hino .... both are my type big big ..... so I challenge @Mustank
  3. Lousy HDB design at the back. Anyway, even a hummer can pass thru, what’s the big deal? 🤷🏻‍♂️
  4. Watched plenty of war movies, most famous of course was Black Hawk Down, with the ubiquitous Humvee (actual abbreviation is HMMWV for High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) seen all over the battlefield as the basic utility jeep for the US forces and then I saw this at a car park: Sua ku never seen this HUMMER H3 before but know that it was made by the same company that churns out the Humvees. From One Motoring website, read that this is a 3.653L monster jeep with a maximum laden weight of 2660 kg and unladen weight of 2231 kg. A petrol guzzler yes? Wonder what is its present OMV...
  5. I drove the domestic equivalent of the Hummer for a holiday... lovely when I was in the National Parks, but a monster in town.. The American car that I liked most was the Jeep Cherokee...
  6. @Fitvip Look like a Mini Hummer.
  7. Hummer with single digit 1 VRN.
  8. Too many wrong decisions by the X6 driver. 1. Too impatient. He should have waited for the cam car to come out (If it was a turn signal and not a hazard light) 2. Too hasty: He should not have sped in the narrow road. If other cars are parked illegally, it is the fault of these cars. But if you drive fast, then you are at fault also. 3. No spatial sense: An X6 is a big car. Not as big as a Hummer but it is wide and the driver's view is not really very good. It is excellent for carrying a lots of stuff and speeding along a highway, but not navigating a narrow alley. Remember EverGiven in Suez in 2021. Slowly is the key.... I guess the key redeeming thing is that he can afford to pay for the damages.
  9. The 2024 Honda Prologue EV was developed with help from GM. source: https://www.motortrend.com/news/2024-honda-prologue-electric-suv The slow drip of information about the new electric SUVs coming from the Honda and Acura brands continues with this latest droplet from the information faucet: the higher-volume Honda model will bear the name Prologue. The 2024 Honda Prologue is due to arrive in 2024, and its name signifies its role as the forerunner of a series of new, high-volume, battery electric vehicles from the Japanese brand. This includes a luxury, performance SUV for Acura, which is also slated to go on sale in 2024. No name for the Acura has been revealed yet. Call the GM Both the Honda Prologue and its Acura counterpart, as well as the two vehicles' battery systems, are being developed in partnership with General Motors. The two SUVs will use GM's flexible BEV3 electric vehicle architecture and Ultium battery management system—the same system used in the likes of the forthcoming 2022 GMC Hummer EV full-size pickup, the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV, the Chevrolet Silverado electric pickup truck, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq SUV, and the Cadillac Celestiq sedan, not to mention a number of other future GM EV models. The point of all this sharing is to create scale, which brings down the costs of various EV components, including batteries, for both GM and Honda. Co-development also means shared costs, and the Honda and Acura SUVs will be built in a GM plant in North America that's specifically tooled for EV production. This ought to further spread out and lower manufacturing costs. The Prologue is rumored to be built at GM's Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico, while the Acura EV will come out of GM's Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, which is currently being retooled to make EVs such as the Cadillac Lyriq. Same Bones, Different Looks Despite sharing many mechanical pieces, both GM's and Honda's EVs will look very different. The styling of the bodies and interiors of these vehicles will come from each automakers' respective design studio. We've been told the upcoming Honda Prologue was designed at Honda's design studio in Los Angeles to meet the expectations of North American customers. There are few details about these upcoming North American-focused Honda and Acura electric SUVs. Both could be larger, three-row family utility vehicles that are specific to the North American market or the two could be smaller models aimed at tapping into several markets. Gardner only noted that the Prologue is designed to be highly competitive, with the functionality required to meet diverse needs. Anticipated annual sales volume is expected to fall somewhere between the Honda Passport mid-size SUV, of which 22,000 units have sold through May 2021 in the United States, and the three-row Honda Pilot SUV, of which Honda sold 62,000 such models in the first five months of the year. The Honda and Acura models are being designed to stay true to each brands' respective DNA: mainstream for Honda, performance for Acura. Honda Plans to Make Its Own EVs and Batteries The Honda Prologue and its still-unnamed Acura counterpart will use GM's flexible EV architecture, but Honda plans to launch a new series of EV models in the second half of the decade based on its own, forthcoming, "e:Architecture". To be profitable, Honda knows it also needs to make its own batteries in North America. "Other markets around the world have a more robust battery production industry and that has to happen here in North America to go forward to achieve the goals of hitting the volumes that everybody is looking to do," Gardner said. He declined to provide a timeframe. Honda is doing its own independent research on solid-state batteries. The industry is pursuing solid-state batteries for the technology's ability to provide a greater driving range, as well as its reduced costs. Honda will have a "demonstration line" to begin testing the tech this fiscal year as it aims to make solid-state batteries available by the end of the decade. Honda's EV History Honda is a bit of a laggard in the battery electric vehicle game, choosing to rely on its two-motor hybrid system for electrification instead. The Japanese carmaker lacks a dedicated electric vehicle for the North American market. Past EVs, including the Fit EV, the FCX Clarity fuel cell sedan, and the latest Clarity EV, have all been discontinued in the U.S. Honda may be a leader in efficient vehicles with internal combustion engines (and its history with electric vehicles dates back decades), but the automaker has not been perceived as an EV leader in recent years, Gardner admitted. Honda's New Global Electric Vehicle Targets Now the automaker is playing catchup with a pledge by Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe to become carbon neutral by 2050. In major markets, including North America, the target is for BEV or fuel cell electric vehicles to account for 40 percent of sales by 2030; 80 percent by 2035; and 100 percent by 2040. Gardner would not say how much Honda is investing in EVs other than to note R&D spending for the next six years will be 10 percent higher than in previous years. In the near term, Honda's strategy is to introduce a higher percentage of gasoline-electric hybrids in its model mix. "We know people who have a good experience with a hybrid are likely to buy a BEV," Gardner said. Building more hybrids in North America will help Honda prepare to make EVs in the future. Currently, Honda builds the Accord, CR-V, and Insight hybrids in the U.S. Gardner would not share if Honda will join the electric pickup craze by adding electric motors and a battery pack to the Ridgeline pickup. Fuel Cell and Autonomous Vehicle Work Continues Honda's larger EV strategy includes continuing to work with GM on fuel cells. Honda has also been working in partnership with GM and its autonomous vehicle brand Cruise since 2018. Cruise is preparing to launch the Cruise Origin robotaxi. The Japanese automaker will use the bones of the Origin for its own autonomous vehicle, which will feature a body and interior designed by Honda. Honda also announced a joint venture with Hitachi to make electric motors. Some Honda and Hitachi suppliers have merged to develop components for EVs and automated vehicles. In China, Honda formed an alliance with Chinese battery maker CATL, and the first CATL batteries will go into a Chinese-market electric vehicle next year. Here's the teaser.
  10. Yes, some drivers will just speed up when you signal. Can't change behavior, a zippy car or hummer might help. 😂
  11. This GMC Hummer EV fit the bill? It is environmental friendly, wide foot print for better all terrain performance and versatile (2 version to chose from). https://www.gmc.com/electric/hummer-ev
  12. I've tried the Hummer, the Defender, Ford and the Hilux (as a commerical vehicle) as a VC.. The Hummer is too wide and consumes too much gas.. The Ford is a soft vehicle and not really meant for real off road conditions. The Defender is a real off road vehicle, but the current version is too expensive. The Hilux is a truck that keeps going... the ground clearance is very decent, even if it's not a true offroader. I hope they will consider the Landcruiser or Prado. The current Vitara is no longer a ladder frame, so that's not a good choice and I believe it's made in Hungary. I recall a Taiwanese video showing rust and poor build quality.. Previously Nissan and Mitsubishi also offered alternatives, but right now, only the Nissan Frontier is a possibility..
  13. Hummer H3T glimpses rugged refinement for midsize market General Motors has issued the following press release: No matter the size or configuration, a vehicle adorned with the HUMMER name must deliver the best-in-class capabilities that have made the brand the standard against which other off-road vehicles are measured. That's certainly the case with the dynamic H3T, a midsize truck that infuses all of HUMMER's military-derived DNA into an efficient, refined package and carves a new niche in the midsize truck market. HUMMER introduced the ruggedly refined H3T concept vehicle at the 2004 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show, providing a glimpse at a growing family of expressive, versatile vehicles. "The H3T concept expresses a vision of the potential of future HUMMER vehicles, targeted at enthusiasts who desire the HUMMER image and capability, but in a smaller, non-SUV configuration," said Clay Dean, design director for small trucks and HUMMER. "It also provides a visual clue to the evolution of HUMMER's design." Innovative features abound in the H3T: The pickup box incorporates side-access doors, along with drop-down assist steps that also double as weather-tight storage compartments. The H3T's unique tailgate forms an unbroken load surface when down, contributing to the H3T's versatility. There's also a large, power-operated folding canvas sunroof and drop-down rear window that combine to offer an open-air driving experience. There wouldn't be a HUMMER badge on the H3T if it didn't have the capability to dive into twisty terrain that would leave lesser 4x4s spinning their wheels. Its wheels-at-the-corners stance, along with 34-inch-tall tires and 11.5 inches of ground clearance, gives the H3T a 51-degree approach angle and a 50-degree departure angle - critical measures on HUMMER's internal "off-road performance metric" of capabilities. And while the H3T delivers on the promise of its familial looks, it does so with a youthful, masculine flair. Riding on a 118.6-inch wheelbase and measuring 74.5 inches wide, the H3T embodies the classic HUMMER proportions - wide stance, low roofline, and wheels at the corners - that have made the H1 and H2 instantly recognizable around the world. And like the H1 truck, the H3T incorporates the cab and bed in a single structure for enhanced strength and an integrated appearance. Design collaboration To complement the H3T's solid structure with a "go anywhere, do anything" aesthetic, GM and Nike designers collaborated on several key aspects of the vehicle's design. The H3T's tires evolved from discussions between GM Design and Nike Design regarding the question of off-road performance footwear influencing off-road performance tires. The result is the innovative ACG TA tire, which addresses multiple traction environments with sand paddles, traction pads and multiple durometers of rubber defined by different-color breakouts. Nike's influence on the interior includes the use of its Sphere material on the H3T's seats. The lightweight material, used by Nike in specialized clothing, can cool or warm the body without mechanical means. It also conveys a technical aesthetic that looks perfectly at home in the H3T. "The Nike collaboration is unique and exciting," said Dean. "It allowed us to share ideas and thoughts, while comparing our design process with a world leader in design innovation. The experience has enhanced the whole H3T project." HUMMER design language The H3T's classic proportions reflect its off-road ability, but also symbolize HUMMER's expressive styling - an American design that says as much about driver freedom as HUMMER's off-road experience. That purposeful appearance is delineated from the HUMMER H1's military roots. "We evolved the HUMMER design language with the H2," said Dean. "But we're continuing that vision and progressing the brand."
  14. Jamus is comparing the big wide roads in DC with our small narrow congested roads. They can drive their Hummer, Cadillac Escalade SUV and still have space for cyclist lane. We can meh? Can quote apple vs apple or not?

Trying to be cheeky here but I guess all future Hummer postings will have be posted in "China Talk" section? [:p] Hummer to be sold to Chinese firm General Motors is to sell its Hummer brand to China's Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery for an undisclosed amount. It is part of GM's plan to reinvent itself by concentrating on fewer brands following Monday's bankruptcy filing. GM says it hopes the deal will save about 3,000 jobs in the US. Hummer will remain based in the US. Tengzhong specialises in making equipment for the road, construction and energy industries. It is based in China's Sichuan province. -bbc news-
  16. Although it has been evident for some time that General Motors' sale of its Hummer brand to Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machines Co., Ltd., we didn't expect for word to come down today that the negotiations are dead and the brand will be wound down. Unfortunately, judging by a press release just issued by GM, that's exactly what will be happening. According to John Smith, GM's vice president of corporate planning and alliances, "One year ago, General Motors announced that we were going to divest Hummer, as part of focusing our efforts on Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac going forward. We have since considered a number of possibilities for Hummer along the way, and we are disappointed that the deal with Tengzhong could not be completed." As we learned from the Saab sale saga, GM announcing that the brand will be wound down does not completely extinguish hope for another buyer to slip in in the 11th hour, but it does seem highly improbable that a new party will pick up where the negotiations with China's Tengzhong left off. In the statement available after the jump, GM does not specify what killed the planned sale of the brand, but rumors in recent months suggested that the Chinese government was not keen to sign off on the deal. At the moment, it is unclear what will happen to Hummer's H2 and H3/H3T models, but it is likely that the tooling and manufacturing rights will be sold off to other companies. As with the wind-down of its Saturn and Pontiac brands, GM has pledged to honor Hummer warranties and continue to supply service and parts.
  17. <The Suzuki Jimny Fuses With The Suzuki Every To Make The Cutest Overland Kei Car The custom Jimry is a Jimny with a sleeper compartment. Kind of. Photo: T-Style A tuner in Yokohama, Japan combined the looks and off-road capability of the Suzuki Jimny with the passenger capacity and space efficiency of the Suzuki Every. The combination producing what T-Style Design calls the Suzuki Jimry, an overland kei car that may not have the off-road chops of the Jimny, but certainly has the attitude. This is probably as close as we’ll get to a Jimny with sliding van doors and I love it. The Jimry is built using the Suzuki Every as a base according to Autocosmos, but it has some modifications to its suspension that make it more trail worthy. Photo: T-Style The stock Suzuki Every sits almost 6 inches off the ground, and the Jimry mods raise it by 1.5 inches for a total of 7.5 inches of ground clearance. The stock 13-inch tires are replaced by 14- or 15-inch tires, depending on the build. Some Jimry builds are 4WD, but not all. And others get even more ground clearance, up to four inches over stock. The Jimry keeps the Every’s 660cc three-cylinder engine to comply with Kei car regulations. That engine makes about 63 horespower and 70 lb-ft of torque. Many of the conversions from TSD come with a five-speed manual transmission, but some get an automatic gearbox. Other gear includes a top box and rooftop tent, along with custom mudguards and bumpers that add to the Jimny look. Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without the Jimny grille. The grille sits below what looks like the tiniest “hood” ever, but since the Suzuki Every is a cabover design, the hood is not covering an engine. And I’m unsure if it’s the stocky dimensions or stand-offish front end but I’m getting Hummer H2 vibes. Even then, I still can’t help but love all the Jimry builds. Photo: T-Style Photo: T-Style The mods keep going into the interior, which has slide-out storage compartments beneath a modular bed. The bed sits atop the rear seats when these are folded and it takes up the entire rear portion of the cabin. That’s only in one of the Jimry builds advertised by TSD, and it looks like the mods are made to suit the owner. Prices for the Jimry range from $21,725 to $22,337 or so. That’s for whole Jimry builds. Autocosmos reports that the modifications alone start at around $2,178. Photo: T-Style Photo: T-Style Photo: T-Style Photo: T-Style Photo: T-Style>
  18. Rare, Left Hand Drive, not local car plate. Australian? It's huge. Trying to turn into Republic Plaza MSCP. Good luck.
  19. If you get kayu drivers, even if the car if LR or Hummer, it will get stuck la!
  20. Guys, My friend getting married and is hoping to get a hummer as a wedding car. The owner can be the driver. wedding couple will not be the driver. Any lobangs?
  21. @Hummer I read those reviews too so I was quite conscious initially, especially at the comfort setting. but over time, you get used to the detached/floaty feeling and it's nice to be able to travel through speed regulating strips without being troubled by them too much.
  22. It looks like General Motors' deal to sell its Hummer brand to China's Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery is on shaky ground. According to Reuters, the likelihood that the Chinese government will give its approval to Tengzhong has been waning in recent weeks, leading the would-be purchasers to consider making the acquisition using an offshore investment vehicle to skirt the need for Chinese regulatory approval. GM and Tengzhong had originally set a January 31st deadline to complete the sale, later extending that time frame to February 28th. The Chinese National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce are thought to have taken issue with the idea of such an environmentally unfriendly automaker coming under Chinese ownership. Further, Tengzhong has never actually made a passenger vehicle, and China already has over 100 companies producing automobiles and the government has gone on record saying it would like to reduce that number. Stay tuned.
