Koolaba 1st Gear December 4, 2006 Share December 4, 2006 Hi, Fisheye and I have gotten a quote which is much cheaper than $238 for all the door handles. Check your PM. We are also keen to cubic print the peeling soft wax finishing on the door handles.
Beanoyip Turbocharged December 4, 2006 Share December 4, 2006 How does the cubic print is being installed? A layer over the existing door handles or remove the existing and fix on the new one>?
Fisheye Neutral Newbie December 5, 2006 Share December 5, 2006 Its carbonfibre laminate. they have I think 12 prints to choose from and it will be "a few layers"...downtime for the car is 24 to 48hrs for curing of the laminate.
Beanoyip Turbocharged December 5, 2006 Share December 5, 2006 Downtime 24hrs.. oh no...
Fisheye Neutral Newbie December 5, 2006 Share December 5, 2006 Yup....same expression I had when I was told of downtime ...but cant stand the sight of peeling rubber on the handles more...looks like need to borrow my dad's car
Tashi Clutched December 5, 2006 Share December 5, 2006 ya, downtime a bit way long for comfort. I am not sure if there are other alternatives than cubic printing? if it is a laminate and design or "prettiness" is not paramount, there must be options. I suspect it is the cubic printing process that takes time. just my wild humble guess. bless tashi
Lightspeed Clutched December 5, 2006 Share December 5, 2006 Can the handles be dismantled? If yes, can just leave the parts with them to work on, thats what the guys at the same company you guys are going to advised me to do several years back
Fisheye Neutral Newbie December 5, 2006 Share December 5, 2006 Youre right, they can dismantle the door handles so that you can still have the car to drive around in. The only issue is that it will be a little difficult to close the car door. You can either close it via the open door latch (which may break considering how heavy the door is) or you can pull the door close via the door frame and risk loosing a few fingers But basically, you can leave the door handles there while they work on it. Thanks for reminding me on this
Lightspeed Clutched December 5, 2006 Share December 5, 2006 Wind down the windows and close the door if required No broken fingers

Lightspeed Clutched December 5, 2006 Share December 5, 2006 Since the Superb is long, can pass off as a limo You, as the driver, should open and close the rear doors for your passengers
