Anyone own one of these cars?

Looks nice, any reviews?

Wife if thinking or getting one but appreciate any quotes/offers and any chance of haggling a discount from Borneo, believe they are including bodykits at the moment?

Thanks

did not own one but from what i see and feel at BM, it seems to be a nice car nod.gif Cabin space is better than the old Vios but the boot space is very small..

I think the Yaris fits the bill in terms of my expectations, although a little pricey for a small car.

Nethertheless, I'm very tempted, just need a sweet deal to make me bite!

Cheers

Hve u test-driven the car?

IMHO, COns: small boot, soundproofing, thai-made, significant amt of body roll.

Pros: Reliable Engine, cabin-interior, comfortable ride

don't mind asking...how long you intend to keep the car? How many family member (mother, father, in-laws, maid, baby chair etc) usually in the car? any baby on the planning?

IMHO. This car boot is too small for future "family expansion".

My manager drives one. The similar engine's good with better torque compared to Vios (he told me this). But the functions and equipment are down right bare. The aircon knob is plastic-ish and it feels like a budget knob. The center display pannel's bare and you got to get used to it. The aircon outlet's too far front. Even with full body kit provided by BM, I feel it looks clumsy. The car's high and the bonnet is short. The backseat's cramped and the boot is small thus he installed an whole series of woofer amplyfier and stuff forgoing the boot. He uses the backseat as his boot instead. The only strong advantages Yaris has is it is very spacious for both the driver and the front passenger, its light and its engine. For the price of a Yaris I feel you should look elsewhere unless you're in total love with hatchback.

If compared to my sunny,

Looks-Yaris

Performance-Yaris

Space-About the same but sunny has a bigger boot

Inside-Sunny, at least the knobs and stuff feels and looks more expensive and better than Yaris.

Cabin-Interior? ............

In the inside of Yaris at the middle side there's nothing. No slots no drawer nothing. In the middle its the display screen, rectangle box for radio, two knobs for air-con and your gear stick. It looks standard but I feel it's too bare. Like a budget car.

There isn't anything in the middle because there's already three glove compartments on the car. One is in the usual place, but the other two look like this:

If you can't see the pic, use this URL: http://www.autosite.com/content/shared/art...cle_id_int/1411

You get the one cup holder at each side aircon vent (helps to keep a canned drink cold), you also get a bottle holder in each door (holds one SIGG bottle nice and snug).

I have to say the air con controls are cheap and nasty but that's the same sort of switchgear being used in the Vios/Belta as well as the Rush/Terios.

The rear seat is already fairly spacious, because of a flat rear floor, and also because the rear seats are reclinable as well (not many hatchbacks, let alone sedans, can claim that).

Boot space is small as is expected of a hatchback, but you knew that the moment you went for a hatch. One of the Yaris club owners is able to fit a baby pram into his boot though.

Frankly spaeking, my manager's Yaris isnt like what you showed. I just commented from what I saw from his car. The back is spacious, if the front seat tucked nicely at the front.

This is my own car:

CRW_5182.jpg

There is close to 10 storage slots/compartments in the front console alone.

I know that the G-spec Yaris has sliding and fold-flat rear seats, maybe that it is one reason you felt rear room was lacking (he could have pushed those seats forward to accomodate his ICE in the boot).

I've sat in enough Sunnys to know that the build quality is better, it has a proper climate control A/C system, and it feels a lot more cossetting, but it is an aged design, space utilization isn't one of the things that it is up to date on.

I rented the Yaris in Phuket for 2 days after driving the Jazz, so it's with some authority that I say that the Yaris was way better than the Jazz.

1st of all the Yaris was more stable and more peppy than the Jazz, fuel consumption was also lower. And the city steering wheel was very light, too light but that's something that I could get used to. View from the driver position is also good as the A-pillar does not block the driver's view as per the Jazz.

But there were a few things I did not like, like the dials which were in the middle, that was pretty stupid, the fuel gauge is in a digital bar format (which I hate). Ahd the twist style aircon dials pretty much irritated me.And of course, the boot, that is small, but if there are only the two of you in the car most times, then its fine.

However with all its cons, it would still be my choice for a small car, unless they brought the Ford Fiesta ST to our shores. The Yaris looks better, handles better, better fuel consumption and way less common than the Jazz. But you will have to live with the terrible interior and the small boot.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the inputs, wheteher positive or negative.

It's good that we all have different tastes / preferences in cars, otherwise the world world will be a boring place.

I'll probabaly pop down to Borneo tomorrow and Ricardo and checkout the price differences between the Vitz and Yaris...now, theres another topic.

Cheers

there are many drawers.

No doubt it's rather bare, it's supposed to be a basic car though.

Sunny has been out in the market for a long time already. And the rear is very cramped up.

However, the fit and finish is gd [thumbsup]

It all depends on the person buying. We cant sae a basic car isnt good, we oso cant sae a fully equipped car is good.
