Mio is selling $799 with 4.3" screen, bluetooth and TTS. not sure Garmin which 600 series have similar feature/price.

What is the different using Malsing in Mapking or Garmin format?

Even if u can find a brand that have My and Sg maps, chances are u gotta pay for subsequent updating and the updates are not so frequent; maybe once a year if u are lucky. As far as I know no other brands except Garmin have an online community (malsingmaps.com) dedicated to creating and updating free maps of My and Sin for its members. The free malsingmaps are updated as frequently as once a month. When comes to buying a GPS, the most important thing to look out for is software (map) supports. Look, features, etc. are all secondary things that any brands should be able to give u if you are willing for pay for it. What good is a GPS with plenty of bells and whistles if it is lacking in software (map) support? Look no further than Garmin, believe me.

U came to the wrong forum to ask.

U should go to http://www.malsingmaps.com/forums/ to get non bias advice and comments. U gotto do some read up first b4 asking questions. This forum is very helpful since u'r a newbie at GPS.

MCF GPS users are mostly using only one product but not others and they sing all the praises about it [:/] . Just like Toyota and Honda owners, confirm say the brands the best. [laugh]

Same as buying car, look for something that suits u and ur budget.

You don't need garmin to use malsingmaps really. All you need is a Garmin Que(a free software) and a windows mobile ppc. Heck if you have mapking, you can use malsingmaps too.

Of course, he can use the Garmin Que on his PDA but he still needs to buy a Garmin 10X receiver. But, he was talking about buying a dedicated GPS set that's why my advice to him on getting a Garmin.

I only use the Nuvi 660 and not the PDA, hence I am not too sure about it. But, from what I was told, other brand of receiver also can be used but u need to run the Gamin application in order to install the driver for the 3rd party receiver before it could work, whereas using the 10X is very straight forward. For those who are interested in getting a GPS, either a dedicated one or PDA, I would suggest you register as a member in www.malsingmap.com and read up the wiki there. It is very informative and a lot of things about GPS thingy can be found there.
