im looking to buy a new kelisa OPC. anyone got person to recommend? anyone knows wat the price now?

tinking that if coe hits 4-5k, the 17k rebate would be fully utilised... so a good buy for me. gotta cut running cost with recession coming full force in 2009.

The $17k OPC rebate is first offset against the COE QP payable. Any excess is then offset against the ARF payable. If the sum of COE QP and ARF is less than the rebate of $17,000, only a rebate up to the sum of COE QP and ARF will be granted.

Since the ARF for Kelisa is around $5.3k, u need a COE QP of around $11.7k to get the full $17k OPC rebate.. [sweatdrop]

kelisa is another typical milo tin. There are a number of better alternatives of the same price range you may like to reconsider.

Kelisa is cheap but it's really too basic.

For really really cheap cars, do consider Suzuki Alto Auto (harder to find nowadays) or Kia Picanto Auto, maybe even Chevrolet Spark

Agree. many korean cars are cheap and good, and have been steadily improving. china and malaysian cars are still a distance behind at this moment. Until they catch up, stick to the koreans, if not japs.

I guess most people still don't know Perodua is using Daihatsu's technology. So Kelisa is basically a Daihatsu car, selling at a much lower price. Engine is assembled in Jap and ship to Malaysia for assembly into the car.

Anyway to thread starter. Kelisa is off the shelve liao. Viva have taken its place. Might want to look at Kenari instead. Its jap counterpart is Daihatsu MOVE.

While perodua engines may be from daihatsu, they car body & finishing are fully made in malaysia and of malaysian QC quality.. feels very very different from daihatsu from japan..

kenari is quite a spacious car.. rear seats can be inclined if the rear passengers wanna take a nap also..

Have to correct you on this one.. the Kelisa engine is not assembled in Japan. It's assembled in Malaysia itself. I can confirm coz' I visited the engine plant and witness the assembly process. It's within the same compound as the car assembly. Design by Daihatsu Japan, parts partly local, 100% assembled in Malaysia...

It's a good enough basic car...

But their QC for export not that bad lah, if not why perodua selling like hot cakes in britain and europe.

Actually, the kelisa is not selling very well in the UK at least...not sure about the rest of europe.

I feel the kelisa was a good car at that price bracket...it's basic and drive a little like the old mini; fun. But with the drop of COE and slow car sales....i feel there are other alternatives to the kelisa replacement to consider.
