Initially, I didn't realize Samsung actually makes car. It was acquired by Renault subsequently and a co-brand exist as Renault Samsung. As known, Nissan is also a Renault's company.

Look at this website, their Samsung SM models look like your Nissan Slyphy or even your Teana. So Nissan car also have part French, Japanese and Korean blood in it, interesting.

I wonder why Hitachi never make cars? They have everything from consumer to industrial products.....

More findings here on Samsung cars from wikipedia:

QM5 (based on the Nissan Qashqai, the first crossover auto of RSM, sold in overseas markets with the brand Renault Koleos)

SM7 (based on the Nissan Teana)

SM5 (previously based on the 1995 Nissan Cefiro and Nissan Maxima, replaced in 2005 by a model based on the Nissan Teana)

SM3 (based on the Nissan Bluebird Sylphy, replaced in 2005 by a face lifted model. Also sold by Nissan as Almera in Latin America.

So, bluntly speaking Samsung is a re-badge Nissan and is sold in the world market.

this is SM5 i saw in Korea..

outlook 99% same..

Imagine Nissan Teana and Slyphy are being sold as Samsung brand here. Nissan fans cry foul liao. Wondering whether there would be great disparity in prices if sold under Samsung brand.

Why cry foul ? It's good you know. If car got accident got more spare parts you know.

But the samsung cars on their website looks horrible when compared to their nissan counterparts. [shakehead]

Maybe they need to hire better photographers.

I guess, it boils down to branding. Hence, I also asked whether the price will be attractive if PIs start to import Samsung cars.

The Korean conglomorates are all very big and have many products.

Hyundai and Daewoo (last time) not just make car. They make all sorts of things like HP, electronics, and also involved in shipping and financial business.

Samsung is also one of them.

It's very common. Saw a lot of them when I was over there.

My last trip to Korea was year 2000, at the time when Renault was acquiring Samsung Motors. Anyway, I didn't take notice of Korean cars back then.

It would be refreshing to see a Teana or a Slyphy with a Samsung Motors logo. Since Nissan is a stronger brand, doubt Nissan drivers here would change their car badge to Samsung Motors.

Its very simple actually.

Nissan has zero brand image in Korea, so they re-badge Nissan cars as Renault Samsung in Korea.

Renault Samsung cars are not exported to other countries anyway, just like the new Chevy Cruze - its still called a Daewoo in Korea.

Relax la ppl - its just a different badge on a different grille, specially for Korea.
