So the WRX is gone after almost 3 years' ownership and in it's place is a 2002 Landcruiser Prado, manual, 3000cc Turbo Diesel...time to go 4x4 driving! :)

Mods to come:

1) 2 inch suspension raise

2) More offroad accessories, e.g. winch on bullbar etc

3) Larger tyres

4) Stereo (?)...maybe...

:D

That's a monster of a 4X4.

Why not a Holden Ute SS? Holden means a great deal to Australia.

Nice with 4WD off road capability for the National Ranges...if you're a military buff can make reference to a local example done on a soft roader, Cross Road. All the best in your project! [pirate]

Pentrain - The Prado cost me $15k, no COE haha :) Yearly registration (road) tax is $520....

Optix - Holden SS ute is not a 4x4...plus value drop very drastically :)

Mach23 - interesting Crossroad...must research more on it....

$15k is a good buy... does it come with high kms as i would think it will as the aussies are always traveling around with their AWD.

Yes, bought it with 240,000kms on the clock which is average for a 4x4 and also because it was an ex-mining vehicle...had high km vehicles previously and they all were fine with normal maintainence....the 1KZ-TE engine can go for 500,000kms (according to my mechanic) if maintained at it's regular intervals....basically bulletproof :D

increasing the boost for this baby and adding a larger intercooler would be one way to go :P

At some stage, I might add a performance diesel chip to the engine and see how it goes :)
