So_nice 6th Gear February 27, 2011 Share February 27, 2011 i chance upon this HKS DDR (Direct Deposit Removal) on a mag recently and it say until got dragon got tiger like tat. it claims tat it has more cleaning properties compared to the usual market bands and is supposed to restore much of the engine performance after using. price wise i believe should be ard 30-40/bottle (220ml+ i think) i also taken alook at the old STP fuel system cleaner and it's supposed to haf the same properties wif HKS DDR. but ard $19 per bottle. juz curious if anyone of u had use the above items b4? or other brands? do they really work or juz snake oil? my car is 4 yrs++ wif 88,000km. lets discuss! ↡ Advertisement Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Ken4555 1st Gear February 28, 2011 Share February 28, 2011 whatever you put into your fuel tank... it has to be burned with your fuel... anything that aids combustion... will give you a better throttle response feel... top grade 2-t when mixed with the petrol, will alter the petrol's molecues and combustion will be different as petrol without additives... v-power is 98... shell 98 is also 98... but many feel a difference... due to the additives... so its all trial and error what works well with your type of petrol and car... all i can say is... to throw in $20-$30-$40 extra into a tank full of petrol, is abit errr.... wasting of money.... the best way to clear deposits is to............ Petrol is 'dry' by nature, aromatics. No lubrication. Hence any form of soluble oil into the tank would help in any combustion engine. ie 2T oil Carbon is always there. No such things as clearing out by using additives. That's bullsh1t at its best. Even with water injection, when I took out my exhaust manifold, the carbon layer (port side + chamber) was thin but very hard and bonded to the base substrate. You need to scrape or dremel off. This is on ported n polished head. For casted heads factory issue, it is much worse. I would recommend REDEX although I don't use it. I'm using race cylinder lube direct into fuel tank. Not extremely environmentally friendly in a certain way to be honest but the smoothness and power delivery gets the better of me. I reduce my carbon footprint in other ways to compensate. Benzene is one of the ingredients of petrol besides heptane and other peptides. Most people experiment with Toulene in various amounts to get the right mix for more torque power. Toulene works to a certain degree because it increases the surface tension of the petrol droplet and hence explodes with more force within the chamber when ignited, all else being equal. I remember the long round bottle my father used to buy, came with a red cap and it would be leaky after a while. Ink red, semi-viscous and rather oily. Used it on his Peugeot 604 and Saab 900 then. Old skool type of HDB auto shops should have them in stock, try those places ie. Waterloo St (Tye Soon place) or Alexandra Village. Spark plugs would be pink red at ceramic insulator portion though.
