Rogersk8ter 1st Gear March 23, 2012 Share March 23, 2012 Hi all. Like to hv some views from bro/sis here. Im driving a Mit grandis 2.4A(not sports model) Mar 2005, parf $14.8k. thinking of changing to an old Toyota Camry 2L of the same value. Trying to see if I can reduce ownership cost with lower rd tax and patrol cost. For me the MPV is too large and a sedan will be better. Is the saving really attractive not forgetting the Camry parf is lower? Let say i switch to a Camry 2L June 2005 w/o any costs, at the end of 10 years, do I actually make any gains? Rd tax saving is abt $1.2k for 3yr till coe exp. Not sure how much saving for insurance. My petrol cost abt $500/mth currently, not sure a 2L will save me $100 a month? if so will be $3.6k savings for 3yr. How abt maintenance costs? Currently Mit Grandis main. costs is quite ok and i presume the Camry is the same? How much savings do u think only will this exerciser be worthwhile? 5k? 10k? 15? 20k? Thanks you for ur opinions. ↡ Advertisement

Voodooman Supersonic March 23, 2012 Share March 23, 2012 Do it, the drive is miles apart but you may end up with an older Camry as Mit Grandis resale is bad and that may leave you with a higher annual depreciation.

Grandis drive cannot be compared to Camry although both float like a boat. Try driving a Grandis and a Camry on Lornie Road at high speed and keep to lane. I used to own a Mit MPV. I might be wrong on the price but I thought Camry should have better resale value.

To drive till camry floaty like a boat u need to achieve approximately 150 above depend on the age of vehicle. Do that on lornie Road? U nut! Take your daredevil stunt off our road. Do it on NSH if u dare. Edited March 23, 2012 by Kopites

Camry drives like a boat, whether at 150 kmh or 60 kmh but Mit Grandis is worse, can't even keep to lane at slightly higher speed. I am safe driver, NCD 55%. FYI, you don't need a lot of balls to do 150 kmh on NSHW, not that I do it (must make it clear since you lack comprehension skills). Mach23 2nd Gear March 24, 2012 Share March 24, 2012 Apart from the hard numbers that you've presented on potential savings and supposedly quality of the badge, what's more important when buying old car is to examine with the help of trustworthy mechanic the condition of the Camry. I've just seen a 60k km Wish in workshop, though owned by an angmo, he didn't do regular servicing = damaged engine with white smoke. Caveat emptor applies. ↡ Advertisement
