Supercharged

It's a rebadged version of the mx5

not just rebadged, body panels, engine, suspension tuning, steering feel, all different.

Could be a more affordable mid-life crises car... hows your search going?

(edited)

same same but different to Miata

more important at the end of the day when resale which one has more value  ??? (for non-Abarth edition)

and also curious to see how how the ground feels

for Non-Abarth version , aka base model - compare apples to apples ....

will you rather be seen / be proud of driving Italian FIAT or will you rather go JDM ?

I don't think BRZ has the refinement you are after..

Let's hope the Fiat adds more sound proofing to their Italian miata.

You should also consider the Mini cooper S or non-S. Its reasonably cheaper, and turbo engines are torquey!

yet to try the BRZ but will take the more fun-to-drive 120d over the Mini with its too-cute big circular motif interior

Sounds good. You can explore the m135i as well. It comes with lots of M-goodies and if the 120d is specced like that, its cost would have been about the same, nvm the 5 years free service and warranty

I'm of 2 minds about the 116d being a mid-life crisis selection, but for 120k, its pretty good value for a propeller badge.

If I am looking at the MX-5 range, I will also consider the Golf GTi.

aiming for those lower-powered ones that can drive hard within legal limits.

i suspect might lose license very quickly with Golf GTi  [:p]
