Happy new year to everyone! Need some advice from you all! Recently my head unit decided to give way and I am searching for a new head unit to replace it. I have shortlisted 2 head unit which is the ATOTO carplay stereo and POWER ACOUSTIK carplay. Both I think cannot be found in SG.

So my question is, if i were to buy from amazon and ship to SG, will the headunit able to receive our FM channel? please advice.

yes, but not all channels. you go read carefully. I think it has something to do with the last digit, some frequency numbering thingy.

but I think Amazon UK can.

Be careful. I tried to import radio comms device from US but was stuck at our customs.

Apparent due to the difference in radio frequency that is not imda compliant under some radio comm policy. Something like they frequency range will interfere with our range.

In the end I got Amazon to refund me while customs destroy my item.

Why you want to listen to local radio?

Do you know how funny US radio can be?

Its damn entertaining. After you hear you don't want to listen to local radio.

Its like you have NETFLIX subscription you still want to see Masters of the SEA?

I will crush your little cockroach! OUCH!

Amazon USA radio station is based on odd numbers:

So you can 88.9, 89.1, 90.5, 93.3,... but you can't tune to even number like 98.0, 92.4, etc.

You get some, you  lose some.

If you're looking at these because they seem cheap, exchange rates and freight charges will very quickly whittle down the savings and you might be better served buying an import set (ie no-warranty) Pioneer AVH-Z2250BT or something from Mustafa or a Sim Lim Tower shop for around $400 plus.

88.9 is BBC World Service

That's the only one worth listening to.

All the rest just fluff and toilet jokes.

Yes, go Mustafa and get those export set. It's a lot cheaper than audio shops. I have bought 2 before from there and no problem at all.

But you still have to pay the audio shop to install for you.

No problem, but remember to set to Europe for SG instead of America BEFORE setting channels.

Interesting. But that would take up data I presume

not much data usage if u not driving grab.

my daily usage for 1,5 hours a day is less then 3GB. And I am streaming Spotify at high def rate.
