Hi everyone,
I just want to ask for your feedback. My friends and I are working with STA and we wanted to know what you guys think if we open an interior car vacuum extraction + steam cleaning service + disinfection centre there.

The price is $280 per car to do: Dry and wet vacuum, steam clean, and disinfection. PLUS, we throw in 1 free STA inspection and 1 year Aviva personal accident insurance coverage worth $180.

Will you all want to come to our place to get your car interior cleaned? If there is overwhelming interest from here, then my friends and I will get it started 😉!

@rayray888

You look at your competitors' pricing -

If you package it at $129 to $199, depending on car size, there may  be more takers.

Forget about the free inspection and insurance coverage.

If you want to give freebies, give petrol vouchers.

$280 is abit steep.

- dry / wet vacuum - if the car is leather seats, i assume can only do dry vacuum, and it is fairly a simple job. (maybe can throw in leather conditioning.)

- steam clean - need to elaborate on the area that will do steam cleaning.

- Disinfection - I assume is spray and wipe using clorox or other disinfectant cleaner. Alcohol based are not good for leather.

- Maybe can also throw in interior conditioning for the plastic and rubber trim

- Free aircon filter (That's one thing that alot of ppl don't change.)

Lower the price  . Take  away  the free inspection and insurance goodies( i am sure its counted into the costs).

Or have another  package that dun include those.

Make another bargains package (or cheaper package that have basic cleaning  only) to attract crowds first and walk in

As much as I don't appreciate you spamming the forum to post, here's a thread of your own to gather as much feedback as you can. If it goes nowhere then it will be closed.

Straight after inspection, it's probably the only time you can hang around legally without having to worry, that's if you pass the inspection in the first place of course. Lol.

Hi @kobayashiGT,

The wet vacuum will be used for the carpet and flooring only if the seats are leather. For the leather seats, we do steam cleaning, then apply leather conditioner, steam cleaning is for all areas except roof lining. For disinfection, we do not use chlorox, but rather we are using a self-cleaning disinfection coating called Quantum Nanoguard that provides 90 days of continued disinfection properties. It is water-based so it will not damage the car's leather.

We will think about the air-con filter 🙂

If we do all these and package at 199 without the free inspection and 1 year insurance, would you bring your car to get cleaned?

Erm. I have recaro seats for my car, I would prefer to steam clean my seats. If I can get you to customise some of the interior cleanings without paying extra, I will consider.

Like steam clean my aircon vent, Clean and carpet areas where it is hard to reach. vacuum and clean all the cubby holes.

If we package at 199 without all the freebies, and do steam cleaning, wet and dry vacuuming, and leather conditioning. Would that be viable?

honestly, it is going to be tough.

1 - Limited audience, your target audience seems quite specific and within that target, it gets even more specific and niche. Your target audience are those ppl who have cars that need to go inspection at STA, that considerably already reduces your target market, within that group, you need those who actually send their car down personally since sometimes ppl get 3rd party workshops/services to help. Then within that specific group of car owners, you need someone who has the time to sit around and wait, this rules out those who like me, just want to go inspection centres to get my cert and leave (Because given a choice, NOBODY in their right mind wants to be there). Then within that group of car owners who sent their car down personally to STA, you need to have someone who has the time to sit around and wait, and wants to actually have their interior cleaned. And then, the last bit of consideration, is that you need someone who personally sends their car down for inspection at STA, is willing to sit around and wait, wants to have their interior cleaned, AND are willing to understand the value of paying $200 for such a service.

Thus, as the resident cynic, imo, it is going to be difficult, it is not impossible but above are the issues I think you will need to overcome if you choose to proceed.
Yes, you can target the general market, but then once you do that, you are competing with all other grooming shops outside which are even more specialised.
