Types of autocare products

Hi guys..

I've been doing some research and this is wat I have found out:

It seems that on the market, there are 2 main types of products:

1. Glare, Toughseal

These products are a special kind of sealant which once applied can last for up to 18 months (manufacturer's warranty). This kind of products also gurantees that you do not need to wax your car ever again. I've also read on other forums where car owners claim it can provide some protectio over minor scratches, dents, etc.

These products also have their own complimentary autocare products like shampoo, etc which enhances if not maintain the initial application.

2. Zaino, Autoglym, Klasse, P21S

This products also have sealants but they require multiple coats of wax on top to ensure that the shine lasts. Like the products in the first category above, they also have complimentary shampoos, etc.

So my question is, comparing 1 & 2, isn't 1 better? coz u do not need to go thru the hassle of re-waxing over and over again? Or are they just too good to be true?? Any comments on either categories are most welcomed..

Thanks!

Personally, I would go for selection 2. And choose separate brands of products rather than all from the same brand. tongue.gif

Neutral Newbie

i would put them as

1. Glare, Toughseal, klasse, zaino

sealents

vs

Carnauba Wax

2. s100, zymol...etc

glare and toughseal are like klasse, z..etc

hence their need for packaged shampoo, diy..etc to restore their sealent layer(s)

just that each have different properties.

e.g. klasse and zaino are supposed to be layer-able, additional layers will enhance the shine, depth..etc

and typically sealents will last longer than carnaubas...especially in our humid, hot weather, plus our cars are seldom garaged.

goes down to cost vs effect

as well as what do u prefer...

do u want to spend the money on a single application of glaze

or for the same amount of money, sign up for an autoglym, zaino package (once every 3 months..etc)

or some people like to diy and enjoy the fruit of their labour.

of cos there are people who don't mind driving a dirty car (out of scope for this forum)

check out how the different treatment, and judge from there.

to each its own.

thanks for all your replies. actually, i'm curious about the differences between those layerable and non-layerable products. it seems to me that those non-layerable products are definitely cheaper - 1 time visit can last u 18 months or a few years (for toughseal). if the claims of such products are really true, then those layerable products will definitely lose out.

are their claims really true?

cost wise, won't say that it's cheaper. In my case, in two years, with monthly waxing and weekly washing, I've only gone through one bottles of zaino polish, 4 bottles of wash and two bottles of the gloss enhancer.

also, for those one time application products, I suggest you check with paint workshops. I've heard that in some cases, these products may make it harder for the paintshop to touch up scratched paint. Not sure about that since I don't use them and forgot to ask the last time I was at yew lip.

finally, question is.... what are you looking for? In my case, I diy and layer because I enjoy seeing the effects of a good coat of wax. [thumbsup][sunny]

Some of these products like GLARE bond with the paintwork...as such... when it comes to respraying, the paintshop must do a proper job by removing everything and do a proper prep before even starting the respray. Otherwise, the new paint wont bond properly to the car. sweatdrop.gif
