API Racing produces this set of super-grade suspension with external canister. Featuring separate compression and rebound damping adjustment, it is marketed as the API Racing Type RA. The Type RAs manufactured with the highest quality under the strictest QC control. Its super unique features were rarely found on many other aftermarket brands and now, The Type RAs have the additional benefit of external canister and the ability to allow the end users to adjust the compression and rebound damping rates accordingly to their individual preferences.

Fully Independent Compression and Rebound Adjustments

By separating the adjustments for compression and rebound, end users of the Type RAs will be able to tune their suspension kits on their vehicles accordingly to their exact needs. From the total comfort of street driving to extreme racing setups, the Type RAs promise you 30 way of compression and rebound adjustment, so everyone will find their level of comfort and needs from the Type RAs with a total 60 ways of adjustment! A fine designed suspension system which is tailor-made for almost everyone. The compression adjustment allows you to fine tune the manner the car rolls onto its front tyres during braking and the separate rebound adjustment allows you to fine tune the way the car responds as you come off the brakes to enter the corner proper and keep the front end hooked up. This allows you to get back on the power sooner and maximise corner exit speed. Corner exit speed is vital because this determines you maximum speed achieved down the next straight.

Damping Adjustments

The Type RAs feature a 30 way damping adjustment for both rebound and compression respectively. By using the single adjuster for simplicity and ease of use, it allows you to tune the vehicle to meet your requirements.

External Canister

The external canisters, implanted on the Type RAs, allow the increase in oil capacity of the damper unit, thus reducing peak oil temperatures. This will lead to a fall in variations of damping rates due to oil viscosity changes which resulted in thinner damper oil which cause the absorbers to "sag" and a total loss in traction momentum till the damper oil cools down. The external canister acts an "oil cooler" to the main absorber body, it maintains stable oil compression and temperature at all times and conditions, therefore creating vast improvement in handling and ultimate control on road and track where performance is most sought after.

Nitrogen Pressurised Dampers with Active Valve Control System (AVCS)

API Racing damper chambers are constructed with double butted wall with a monotube, twin piston design. API Racing's unique Active Valve System (ACVS) works flawlessly with all its Australian-made pistons, disc valves, piston rods etc to push the Type RAs towards its optimum handling and performance over most other aftermarket brands Though high quality oil already goes a long way to help reduce this problem, API Racing engineers took a step further and we only the dampers with nitrogen. The nitrogen exerts a pressure on a floating piston which in turn exerts a permanent pressure on the oil dramatically reducing aeration and so improving the consistency and quality of the damping. Besides that, it also adds an additional element of effective spring rate to the damper.

Super High Grade Damper Oil

The Type RA dampers, consists of a sophisticated shim stack design, contains high quality oil which will consistently control the compression and rebound speed of the damper rod under the all conditions. API Racing uses only high quality oil blended proudly in Australia to maximise the lifespan of the dampers significantly. The constant travelling and motion over uneven ground causes the oil in the damper rod to heat up thus the usage of high quality is very important under these circumstances. No cost is spared for the Type RA, therefore the Super High Grade Damper Oil used will also minimise the degrading of its properties thus reducing changes in the vehicles handling characteristics in the long run as well as prolonged track usage. The damper units are black chromed steel to deliver superb durability. The aluminium components (top mounts, locking collars etc) are anodised and the steel lower mounts go through an electrophoretic disposition process followed by powder coating. API Racing runs random selections of steel components (brackets, dampers, screws etc) and put them through a salt sprays bi-monthly to ensure anti corrosive properties are kept at the highest standard.

Concave Lower Locking Collar

API Racing utilise an innovative and patented designed lower locking collar with a bevelled edge that seats into a corresponding bevel in the suspension's bottom mount. This vastly increases the surface area that the locking collar works on and so prevents the dangerous problem of the locking collars working loose. All of our locking collars are made of high tensile, space grade T7075 Aluminium anodised in smart green.

Corner Weight Adjustments

Having the adjustable lower spring platforms for the Type RAs, the end users can setup their cars for corner weighting to achieve perfect balance and also ensure maximum tyre efficiency. By placing a balance in weight on each tyre on an axle, all the tyres will share an equal loading, thus increasing overall grip and ultimate control.

Camber Adjustments / Pillow Ball Upper Mounts

The Type RAs come standard with pillow ball upper mounts (anodised and bead blasted), is made from aluminium alloy and of high quality and durability. The camber adjustable aluminium pillow ball top mounts allows the end user to adjust camber without having to add camber kits. This feature allows camber to be set accordingly to your needs.

High Quality Coil Springs

The springs of Type RA coilovers are made from space-grade SAE9254 high strength durable cold wound chromium alloy steel. The springs are put under a stringent test of over 550,000 cycles before the final assembly with less than 3% of deform rates.

Damper Adjusting Extenders (Optional)

API Racing specially created these unique extenders, with the ability of adjusting the damping knob at any difficult angles and thus eliminates the nagging trouble in removing the rear seats and shelves when you want to adjust the damping on your rear suspension. The extenders are now available separately in three lengths: 110mm, 200mm and 250mm. This set of suspension is a wonderful masterpiece from our API Engineers. It totally eliminates the stock harsh ride, mainly due to too stiff springs and weak shocks... this set of suspension gives u the much needed cornering ability that you can only always dream of and the best part, at a fraction of the cost of other big brands.
