  1. Wonderful news. The same operator called me back to apologise for an error she made earlier.

She clarified that the current 26c stamps can be used in place of the new 30c stamps without needing any top up stamp.

So they'll let the "current" series die out without penalising those of us who stocked up.

From 1st Oct, you can only buy the 30c stamps, of course.

A big thumbs up to Singtel for at least being rational about this. [thumbsup]

Of course, there's an "arbitrage opportunity" for anyone who's desperate enough.

Sell your stock of 26c stamps for anything between 27 to 29c after 1st Oct, and you make an instant profit. Provided you don't need to use stamps in the foreseeable future, of course. [laugh]

cheong to Singpost now to hoot the stamps now!

  2. 1. I have just checked my CDP, the rights shares is in there... means if I don't exercise it upon ex-rights date (buy at $7.25 or sell at current $2.01), these rights will be gone, right?

    3. Does that means I can apply for 900 excess rights @ $7.25 to top up my allocated shares to 1000 for easier transaction in the future, but the extra 900 is up to them to allocate to me in any number of shares available or either 900 or none at all?

Just apply for excess rights, it's a bonus if you kena. If you have cash, just apply for more 1900, 2900, 5900 up to you.

  3. I think some of those doing it may just be for the fun of it. Did they donate any $ or do anything practical that will better the lives of those with ALS? Though I agree that there is publicity generated.

And really it's a waste of water, I see some people like pouring 1 bathtub over themselves. [shakehead]

  4. I thought 624 sq feet shd be studio size. I think it's smaller than the old 3-room HDB, which theoretically has only 2 rooms and no balcony.

But at 624 sq feet for a 3-bedder, FH, in prime district, it could be the cheapest 3-bedder at launch

  5.

ah seng was out of town wif his killer whale. [laugh]

honda......their wheezy earth dreams 1.3L consperm <130bhp. [laugh]

Interesting that the killer whale, who is also the MTA president, was missing at a meeting that was supposed to be what MTA was set up to begin with.

This MTA is a joke, more and more members leave. Chinese say "a plate of sand". All of them fighting against one another how to have common voice.

Maybe this meeting was deliberately held when Ah Seng not ard for some reason [lipsrsealed]

  7.

You will need to find the source that cause the IBS. There is no cure for it.

For me, its chicken meat and too much chilli. So if I want to consume these, I make sure to do it only at home.

That's what I'm saying bro. I have been eating the same for almost 40 years and no change in my diet whatsoever, then it suddenly happened. The only difference I will say is that 30 years ago I'm 60+kg for most part of my life, until I hit my 30s my weight is close to 80kg. [blush]

  8. I also have IBS. Really very irritating.

On good days, it's ok, but still need to PS for 3 to 4 times. Every time take dump liao feel like never totally emptied.

Then on some bad days, will LS for few days, and will visit doc if it gets too bad. But most of time I just let it clear up on its own.

The funny thing is that only started to experience IBS after I turned 30. I rem last time everyday PS one time in the morning and that's it. And I've not really changed my diet so quite sure it's not some food triggers that caused it. Thinking of going TCM but not sure if it will help. Anyone got good experience with TCM treatment?

  9. a quick update on the match results and group standings [thumbsup]

Last group matches from today. Nothing much in Group B, but Croatia vs Mexico will be interesting to see who goes through to round of 16.

  10. I think we all have friends like this.

I got a close friend sometimes will get very drunk, then next day tell us he also dun rem how he got (drive) back home.

Then again I have another friend who always drink at same coffeeshop same time everyday without fail. He offended 1 of the drinking bunch there, someone from another table. Then this guy go bao toh him to police. In the end the police car ambush him, when he drove out of the car park immediately drove in front of him and stopped him, even though there were some other cars driving out of the car park at the same time. In the end, his license kantong 2 years and fine $3k. Not only that, forced to sell his car at a loss. Because of this, KPKB for very long, and wanted to go confront the bao toh king. After this incident, he did not give up drinking though. In fact drink more hiong now, but only at another coffeeshop within walking distance. Every day reach hm safely, even if dun go back also nvr mind.

SPH is looking for Car ambassador for this year Carnival. They have renamed it as "The Cars@Expo". Previously known as CATS Carnival.

The Cats Classified section - a mainstay in the Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) umbrella of newspapers - has been revamped, with fresh contents and a new identity.

Starting today, it will adopt its host newspaper's identity and be known as The Straits Times Classified, The New Paper Classified, Lianhe Zaobao Classified or Berita Harian Klassified.

Each will carry listings and features that appeal most to readers of that particular newspaper, SPH said in a press release yesterday.

  12. Khang's Auto?

is this the same khang auto that speciliase in auto transmission selling TWM snake-oil warranty later close shop and let car owner high and dry?

Yes, previously at Sin Ming I believe. Not sure if they are affiliated or backed by Tan Chong now, since they occupy the top floor in the Nissan Showroom. They still specialize in GB.

  13.

ignoring the obvious concerns about crime and maintenance issues with landed housing,

and many forget about the 'joy' of commuting the causeway/second link every single day.

i used to have a malaysian classmate when i was in primary school, woke up like 4 plus 5 am to take school bus.. and reach home only in the evening/night.

those who need to get in to work and send kids to school really need to think thrice.

only the toughest few can tahan long-term..

I got a relative who is under the MM2H, commented recently that the waiting time at Customs is horrendous. While it used to be Bolehland being the bottleneck, he say now is SG side taking a long time. He ever encountered just 6 cars in front of him waited 1 hour to clear [sweatdrop]

After clearing the customs, it takes only 10 mins to get back. The SG customs side now really taking long time after the recent lapses. But luckily he got more patience since he used to stay in Aus and commute 1 hr to work everyday.

1 thing I notice though, most of those MM2H will have 2 cars, 1 SG registered to commute into SG, and another better MY reg car for travel in Bolehland. My relative has a SG reg Nissan Latio, but has also a MY registered Merc.

  14. The mechanic man in red is in Nissan attire. I sent my Audi to Premium Automobiles for repair and found it at Nissan workshop.

It could be Khang's Auto, located at top floor of Nissan showroom at Toa Payoh.

They are specialists in Auto Transmission. Is your problem related to GB?

  15. If roll with 100 bucks on above 2.5 goals from 1st match until now 10th.

One would have snowball from $100 to more than 25k liao.

    If only.......haha.

Actually no, because you will have lost the 2nd game (mexico vs cameroon 1-0).

The good news though, is that since then, if u buy above 2.5 and roll, will have been on 9 game winning run. $100 ^9 = $51,200. Win 1 COE already haha

    PUBLISHED: JUNE 16, 4:03 AM

SINGAPORE — The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is looking into a netizen’s boast that he obtained a discharge from National Service (NS) by feigning mental illness, but gave the assurance that servicemen with genuine psychological conditions would continue to be cared for.

The netizen posted on June 13 on the SAF Confessions Facebook page — which is not affiliated to the SAF or the Ministry of Defence — that he began going to the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) a year before he was due to enlist, on the pretext of suffering from depression.

He acted up on the day of his enlistment to avoid having his head shaven, dishonestly obtained medical certificates from various places and even checked himself into the IMH to get himself discharged from National Service.

The netizen, who signed off as “A PES F-ed Recruit”, boasted that during his enlistment period of one-and-a-half months, he spent only an hour in camp. PES F refers to the physical employment status that exempts one from NS.

He drew swift condemnation, with more than 230 comments on his post as of last evening. The post has also drawn more than 240 “likes” as of last night. One Facebook user, Zhaohan Chua, said he “should be ashamed for perpetuating the perception that soldiers who are diagnosed with mental illnesses are faking it to escape National Service”.

The Singapore Army said on its Facebook page at about 4pm yesterday that the SAF was looking into the case. “His dishonesty undermines our system of managing servicemen who genuinely suffer from mental illness. This serviceman had taken the care and consideration given to him by the SAF for granted,” the Army said, adding that servicemen with genuine psychological conditions would continue to be given care and assistance.

The issue of NSmen with mental illnesses was in the spotlight recently, with Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen stating in Parliament last month that about 500 NSmen had been exempted each year for the past three years for mental health problems.

Pre-enlistees are screened by medical officers for psychiatric, behavioural and adjustment problems, and those with severe mental illnesses will be exempted from NS, a decision made by a specialist medical board, he had said.

Hope he gets his just deserts. Need to keng until like this mah?

    Bro,

That's why a VPN is needed as there are geographical restrictions.

If you really don't want to spend, just google for free UK VPN(though there might be performance issues, hey it's free so why complain!)

Alternatively, there are reputable VPN softwares out there such IPVanish, StrongVPN, Hide My Ass etc.

Just google for more information and happy watching the World Cup!

Thks bro. Will try out tonight
