  1. I am currently on $10/ month Heya which doesn't have auto-roam or data-roam to places like India and China.  My Heya SIM telephone number is also the one which is tied to my WhatsApp.

If I need to go India or China and need to be contact by my heya telephone number, access to WhatsApp and internet, what are the options available?  I need to set up all these first before leaving Singapore, not using what is available outside Singapore.

My old phone doesn't have e-SIM, just normal 2 slots for SIM card.

    Thank Folks.

I notice conti cars depreciates faster than Japanese cars. Thinking of selling my Nissan pulsar (left 3 years 4 months) for about $50k and get a used Mini (2+years) for slightly less about $40k.
I heard minis models after 2014 requires much less maintenance and lesser breakdowns.. maintenance of my pulsar has been expensive last 2 years about $5k, having to change radiator, 2 oil housing, battery, alternator, etc. I may have to change brake disc and pads next due to the high pitch sounds it makes when braking.

    any thoughts?

Don't change car.  The parts you have replaced are mostly wear and tear components which will happen to all other cars.

Many people prefer mini because it seems more atas.  I am used to being called an old Nissan Uncle.  Image doesn't quite bother me.  😄

    Don't do it

Change so many parts on the Nissan means nothing left to change before scrapping or renewal.

Radiator, oil housing, alternator no need to change every year.

If engine ok and chassis is straight no accidents can even renew for another 5 10 years.

This one is good advice.   Thumbs up!

  4. If a person has a house in Taiwan or Japan and the house is destroyed in an earthquake,  would he be able to get some of his money back, or would it be a complete loss?

May not be worth all the hassle for $150k amount seriously.  As the others have highlighted.

I probably have one of the highest OA in this thread (becos it is untouched) and i still bo chup.  😂🤣

Looks like I would give the transfer to T-bill a miss, as someone rightly pointed out that it needs the interest rate to be >3.4 % to move the needle slightly.

  6. There are many other ways to make money and earn a living.  Spend time to explore other alternatives and exit from involution (内卷).  The tradition recipe which worked well in our parents' era is not going to work any more.

  7. At workplace, I keep seeing advertisements and emails prompting me to go for Shingles vaccination.  Is it better to go for one?

  8. Borrow this thread.

I have always been an Android guy.  Recently gotten a vendor to develop an App and it requires the user to have an Iphone to try out.   Thinking of getting a used Iphone for this purpose and doesn’t wish to spend too much money.   Which is the most value-for-money generation?  Iphone 11?  Where is a good place to source for one, CompAsia?  Thanks folks.

  9. Dear folks,  borrow this thread.

Hands feeling itchy and thinking of buying something to keep under my pillow and hopefully, it will appreciate over time.  Does it make sense to buy jewelry, gold coins or small/mini/micro gold bars from neighborhood goldsmith shops?  In case I need to run road one day, I could just pack and go with these stuffs!  Would those with simple or no design be cheaper?  I don’t want to pay for additional craftsman work.

    Thanks Sifu!
