new york city got hit by weaker 4.8 earthquake today, didnt know that part of USA is vulnerable to earthquakes..
thought earthquake zones for USA mostly on west coast from california to washington state plus some mid west states.

Hm I heard about this since way back not sure about it but I think it may mainly applies to working in Asian restaurants or eateries or super markets or mini marts. Any other place's like the bubble tea shops etc normally will pay at least the minimum wage if not more for casual work.

Australia has some of the highest minimum wages in developed world so their purchasing power is much higher than in Singapore . Easily 20 aud plus per hour minimum wage by now. Think it’s about 23 plus AUD for any kind of job be it temp job or casual contract.

The anti-corruption agency in Singapore for the first time hauled up vehicle inspectors suspected of accepting bribes in return for turning a blind eye to illegally modified cars, local media reported on Wednesday.
The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau visited STA Inspection, a vehicle inspection center, on March 9 and questioned half a dozen of its employees, in what was thought to be the first graft case of its kind in Singapore.
According to local daily the Straits Times, STA Inspection, a part of the ST Engineering group, is one of the three vehicle inspection companies running inspection centers.
Vehicle inspection has been mandatory in Singapore since 1981. Cars that are between 3 and 10 years old have to be inspected every two years to ensure their roadworthiness. Vehicles more than 10 years old have to go for annual inspections.
The STA inspectors are thought to have accepted bribes from workshops specializing in car modifications.
The workshops, which often send customers' cars for inspection on their behalf for a fee, are believed to have bribed certain inspectors to ensure that they would pass the modified vehicles.
Hmm when there is a will there is way. old COE car is every year need to inspect. Really troublesome if you need to dekit and then reinstall back mods. What some people will do is buy those left less than one year coe, then can mod all you want as no need to inspect anymore. Hearsay when Coe expire these cars are then stored /“dumped” somewhere in boleh land. 😆

Another question is how the hell does this van pass inspection? Somemore their inspection is every year. CPIB should investigate.
They do what all the illegal modsters do, revert to stock before inspection then install back everything once finish inspection.

the amount of reckless driving on the roads seems to be increasing exponentially especially in the past 5 years with lesser and lesser enforcement from TP on the roads....

Phv plus gig economy is actually beneficial from govt point of view as those working under this industry are counted as employed which creates lower unemployment rate than the numbers suggest. Without these jobs a large chunk of people, easily many thousands will be unemployed. Govt win win situation , can get taxes through COE for all the cars bid from the grab and gang. At the same time no need to pay welfare benefits to these group of people as well.
