  1. Maybe not in 1 day but the math is not difficult. 100,000 PMD population $1m = 2000 PMD at $500 per piece. Assume 60% needs to be replaced = 60,000 units Market share = 3%. (2k/60k) Why not? Maths taken from this article. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/e-scooter-businesses-may-suffer-losses-of-up-to-15-million-retrenchment-and
  2. If this is true, the retailers are truly screwed. I don't quite agree that the sudden ban is something that is an inherent part of business risk in SG. This looks like a political decision. If a businessman can lose his entire equity base with a stroke of the pen, we will lose our competitive edge in no time.

    Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP)

Lol... India has a population of 1.4 billion, the top 3% would translate into 42 million eligible workers, maybe a couple of millions will qualify to work here if we recognized Indian degrees and professional certificates. If SG is keeping to the CECA terms, why is India accusing us of violating the terms of CECA and threatening to bring SG to WTO court. India reportedly walked away from RCEP as noone wants to allow free flow of Indian labor. Lol... Maybe that is fake news as well. CCS statement avoids any meaningful discussion of this issue.
  4. Still don’t understand. Based on that logic, we should ban bicycles too from footpaths as enforcement on speed limit is obviously challenging. Bicycles are bulkier, often with higher centre of gravity and are harder to control on narrow walkways.
  5. Many walking and cycling advocates in this car forum. I am proud to walk once a week.wahaha
  6. Lol... Some people think these people have a lot of options and there are a lot of $3k jobs out there. My bad, I see many bicycles on the footpath and that is currently allowed. Bicycle can go above 10km/h too.
  7. I don’t have an issue if the $7m will help these people and permanently resolve the PMD problem. If you are living hands to mouth and your livelihood is suddenly affected by a change in G policy through no fault of yours and this amount helps everyone to transit to a safer option without much disruption, it is money well spent. IIRC, G spent more on retraining people who are retrenched and or looking to change career path. But i doubt it will work if the rules are not enforced like for PMD. PAB will be more dangerous.

Not lowball, just offer what is reasonable. It is crazy asking price, straight line depreciation. Might as well buy new.
  9. Should ban smoking, alcohol, red meat, sugar..... All bad. 😂😂😂
  10. Next they will ban bicycles and Power-Assisted Bicycles (PAB) on footpath. Most of the footpaths in the heartlands are just too narrow for safe sharing by both pedestrians and cyclists (e or no e). Was ok before the gig economy took off but with 10,000 supposedly safer and slower ebikes replacing PMD, zero incident is just a pipe dream. But I am not as clever as our civil servants, so what do i know? Will they then end up on the roads? There are no perfect solution, only compromises. And after govt spent $7m of taxpayers money and the problem is still not resolved, more people will be baying for blood. They should just ban the gig economy and create more $3k a month jobs for everyone. Need to fix the infrastructure, social grace and up enforcement.
  11. Ok. This makes more sense than the theory that Singapore has refineries and therefore we use more plastic bags as they are dirt cheap. Plastic bags are really light and compact and can be shipped in huge quantity to anywhere in the world and would still cost less than paper bags. NTUC should perhaps switch to biodegradable plastic bags if they are really keen to save the environment. https://www.straitstimes.com/forum/letters-in-print/cant-fairprice-switch-to-biodegradable-plastic-bags
  12. You are in this industry? Just curious why CKD units from Thailand and MY can be exported to Philippines but not to SG? Double taxation (When parts are imported to MY and when the assembled car is exported to SG or wholesalers just won't allow it?
