  1. Talking about debadge. Just saw this while ago...

    This fella takes the cake.

    From Evo to Inspira..

Kancil with big balls can eat Jetta too?

    Else, the car still matters.

I'm referring to earlier comment made saying VW can't run dude.

Of course performance matter, but we are not comparing a 600cc to a F1 here.

Be it VW or BMW, they are still common vehicles on the road, and whether can the car full potential be unleashed, the driver still plays a big part in handling the vehicle.

You need to cross the checkpoints to check out crazy kancil and protons out there, if you are keen to take on some on them on a race (with $$ of course),  i can intro some to you.

  2. the fact that two VW was caught is like scrapping the bottom of the barrel to meet KPI .. [:|]

    [sleeping]    :o

how fast can a VW go, let alone the failing gearbox?

u not scare GB kapow meh?

Don't look down on vw dude. You may try taking up some scooped up GTI and Rs.

My stock Jetta twin-charge ate a couple of much more expensive cars before(that includes BMWs) speed in excess of over 200. Its not always about the car, but how big are your balls, anyway, that was all history.. uncle happily enjoying a mpv now.

  3. Fortuner made in Thailand, sharing the same platform with Hilux pickup truck.

The Prado is made in Japan, sharing same platform as Land Cruiser.

    Interior quality is huge difference.

If budget permits, go for Prado.

  4. Mileage very subjective... unless you do a blind test. Someone else help you top up petrol without telling you which brand. You also need to try a few tanks to get the average.

By the way, cheap doesn't mean lousy, expensive doesn't mean good.

20 min video on premium vs regular gas:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPPkPAbzwbU&app=desktop

Agree, I was a regular SPC 98 user years back. The cheaper price was why i choose SPC. After few months, i switched to shell 98

On an average, i was getting about 500km per tank with SPC 98, getting approx 550km on shell 98. This reading was taken as an average, travelling on almost the same route day to day.

Thus that makes me wonder whether petrol from different companies will gives different mileage....

Understand that there are also other factors which affect the mileage, just hoping to get some views from other drivers out there.

  5.

A Sonata has 305nm of torque?

No wonder they accelerate pass so many cars.

How many cars has more than 305Nm?

    2014 BMW 520i only has 270Nm

    :D

Yea, modern diesel engines can produce very high amount of torque, but their 0-100 figures are usually not very impressive due to narrow powerband and lack of rev which is vital for sprints. so even a 320i NA engine can out sprint a turbo 2.0t diesel.

  6. Sonata taxis don't need 708 hp

They already out accelerate every thing now.

    :D

The current sonata taxis in Singapore are using the 2.0T CRDi engine with 150hp, 305nm. But it's 0-100km/h is in the range of 10-11s.

Diesel engines car hardly win traffic light sprints due to its narrow power band and limited rev range.

More ever, the sonata taxis are running with antique 4AT boxes which further restrict its efficiency.

Most current diesel engines are not made with the intention to win any races.

Their priority are placed in efficiency; getting the maximum mileage from every drop of fuel.

Yes, modern diesel engines are extremely torquey, its meant to keep the engine rev as low as possible during driving.

  7. It will be interesting to see if this model turn BM fortunes around since it was toppled by Mercedes & BMW. Furthermore by the reclassified of the Engine cappacity of Conti vehicles it might as well be the time for altis to shine again....

I must say corolla altis might be the MOST reliable car in its class. Any one disagree?

its sad for Japanese makers to bring down the germans in order for them to compete and sell.

We used to own the Japan made corolla G9. Electronic system broke down in less than one week old.

  8.

    we moved beyond that. [drivingcar]

have a whatsapp & fb group to share knowledge and ideas about vans such as repairs, maintainence and mods [:p]

    pm me if you keen.

yup now the nv200 population still below 5 years old. after that the workshops will be their favourite pitstops. lol.

hiace seems like a popular choice even for 2nd hand.

any issues with the vito till now?

So far so good. very nice to drive with its light steering, however parking is rather challenging especially in small MSCP. Its is longer than NV350 or Hiace.

Since Vito is a German made, the maintenance cost should be on the high side...

with the current sky high COE, the cost of buying a small van doesn't makes much differences from getting a full size van.

  9.

You do know how much the Citan is right?

Yes, its sharing the same chassis and engine as NV200 and Kangoo.

The price is more or less not far from the NV200 the last time i checked.

but because we wanted a automatic, we ended getting the vito instead :)

  10. Honda pricing is way ridiculous nowadays. The are eating into continental pricing territories. A VW Tiguan 2.0T can be had for a price from S$136k.

    A civic 1.6 @ $106k and a VW Jetta 1.6 @ $96k!!

A Thai Honda Accord at $145k?? No thanks, I'll settle for a German passat or PI Audi A4 at a marginal more.

My logical mind is telling me to go continental.

  11. Simple reason : Kiasi mentality..

When they find the car is going too fast, they need to tap brake to slow down even though there's no car in front.

What I can't stand most is those tapping brakes at the junction when there's 'green' light in front of them. Experienced this many many times... Really dun understand the mentality of these people..

BTW, I think the speed cam @ benjamin shears bridge is pointing towards ECP-Jurong, so it should be safe to speed down the slope. [:p]

We cannot take it for granted that "green light = safe to proceed". There was once green light was in favour of my direction at a cross junction. One female bugger simply dash across the red light on my right and "bang!" right infront of my eyes with another innocent car coming from my opposite direction. The female's car whom beat the light flew up in the air and landed 3 meters infront of me. If I were to reach the junction one second earlier, I would be lying in the hospital.

Since this accident onward, I do not take traffic light for granted. One single experience like this and the images will haunt you forever.

  12. celica come with stock HID. but the stock blub is btw 3 to 4k, so look yellow. change to higer rating, like 8k, u will get white light.

    Stock is 4300K. For pure White, it's 6000K. For really blue, it's 8000K. [:)]

I bought a pair of PIAA Spark 8000K, The light is purpleish. Can't shine the road properly especially in malaysia, changed to philips vision plus eventually.
