  1. Thanks for the informative input !

How reliable was the engine ? Or any noticeable problems you observed during your ownership?

I was considering Rav4, might take a look at Forester too.

  2. Hi,

Was wondering if anyone here is driving 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander (or used to own one) ?

Thinking of converting to SUV from my Mark X... Was looking at Outlander as I like the design and functions.

Any things I should take note of ?

  3. hey sorry guys i'm totally a dummy on cars. i have an auto car but the gear is those straight kind. i saw the staggered kind. how to operate the staggered kind, as in how to shift the gear? i've attached a pic to illustrate wad i mean. thanks and sorry.

Most staggered kind don't have the Shift Lever (button that we normally must press to shift the Gear), so they can freely shift it.

You can also convert your Straight kind to Staggered kind ^_^

  4. So in short you want to change from straight shift to staggered shift plus OD?

I was quite blur when i read your thread.

    Yes Bro,

I have ordered my staggered gear and am waiting for it's arrival. Hoping to find a local garage that is willing to do the swap. My foreign friend has kindly included a simple installation manual.

    Any suggestions ?

This how it looks like when the custom connector is fitted on a 1.8L Gear Module and ready for 1.6L Gearbox installation. The shift lock button on our original 1.6L Gear knob is bypassed and the Overdrive is linked to Gear 3. The rest remains the same.

  6. Dear fellow Forumers:

Would like to engage your help. I'm currently driving a 1.6L '06 Toyota Altis (G9.5), the Gear for my model has a Shift Knob and an Overdrive Button on the Gearstick. For the 1.8L variant, they get the fanciful shift gears instead. Due to the limitations on the 1.6L Gearbox, we are unable to do direct changes to our gear knobs, but I've heard that it can be done by having a separate button for the Overdrive and doing some modifications (considered more on cosmetic) so that we can change our gear stick and knob.

I've even seen a successful case of a complete change to the 1.8L type of Gear Shift, but it's just a cosmetic mod, not a gearbox change. Pictures are as follow:

Wonder if anyone has contacts or has any idea of any workshop that is willing to take up such a challenge.

I am planning to change my gear stick and knob to the one below, while still retaining the original gearbox:

    Thanks !

  7. $150 is cheap! what car do you drive? I was quoted $280 for a customized 4-2-1 from MAN. Galvanized steel, not stainless steel... Still contemplating whether to go for 4-2-1 alone or de-cat + 4-2-1 or just de-cat. FK boss recommended to do up 4-2-1 + high flow cat as he said just de-cat may make the car perform worse... he charges $550 for 4-2-1 + high flow cat.

Any bro got any inputs can share? De-cat, De-cat + 4-2-1 or 4-2-1? All other pipings stock, car is 1.6L auto cerato and already installed semi-flow muffler.

For Galvanized Steel, any worries that it will crack ?

For high-flow cat, can pass inspection ?

Btw, care to share the contact for MAN ? I would like to enquire for my ride too. Thanks.

  8. Any Forumers have any experience doing Gear Box modifications?

I'm currently driving a 1.6L '06 Toyota Altis, I've seen people driving the same model doing gear-knob changes and re-routing the Shift Lock & Overdrive to a separate button, and even seen successful individuals fit a 1.8L Toyota Altis Gearbox into our model.

If anyone has some contacts, would appreciate if you could share.

Thinking of widening my Wheel Arches a little to look something like above.

    Thanks.
