  1. Anyone knows if Eyesight can be upgraded to v4.0 with lane centering? New OutBack is equipped with ES 4.0 so I wonder if older ES for XV or forester could potentially be upgraded or not.

    TIA

  2. Hello, I am looking at 2016 B9 A4 1.4T, probably out or soon out of warranty, is there any general concern(s) for this car and what should we look out for during the test drive?

for servicing, where do you all send it to?

    TIA

  3. Today met an idiot Subaru XV, was travelling happily on right lane in kpe and I kept a one car distance in front to avoid unnecessary brake with slow moving traffic. The idiot put right signal and cut straight right in without checking blind spot. Thought Subaru have blind spot assist? i have to jam brake for him to enter. Should remove these kuku drivers off the road. Happen to be driven by young chap with dark complexion. Maybe inexperience driver. really spolit my morning drive mood.

Unfortunately you had to start your new day by meeting a kuku driver. I guessed you are in the blind spot of that driver.

True, driver failed to check for blind spot before making the turn even tot signal was given.

    In additional,

    .nothing to do with brand/model

.bsm is optional depending on XV variant and is only available in the latest batch

  4. Anyone experiencing high pitch whining sound from the air con blower (at passenger side) of your XV? The same problem described here i think - https://www.subaruxvforum.com/threads/chirping-from-ac-fan.169814/page-3

As the passenger side dashboard bottom is not covered, there was suggestion to cover it up with the below part to muffle the sound. Anyone has any experience in this? https://subaruonlineparts.com/subaru-crosstrek-blower-motor-cover-p-3064.html

If the sound is abnormal, i would suggest you to bring it back to MI (assuming still under warranty) and not buy a cover and live with it.

Unless sound is normal (after MI assess) then buy cover to reduce it noise make sense.

  5. I am looking at equivalent to stock tyre type, but the size like not common.

You running on 17" or 18"?

    17" = 225 60 r17

    18" = 225 55 r18

While the profile is uncommon, there are few models out there to choose. Unless you want to change the profile slightly to the specific model you are looking at. The tyres shop will give better advise on this.

Goto marketplace to filter bases on your profile and checkout the price, review, installer.

Fyi, MI has tyres pkg from Bridgestone to Yokohama to Dunlop, to choose.

really??? we can tell them where to paste?

understand it has to be pasted near canter of windscreen.

You may visit Msia official tng rfid website for more info.

I guessed there is valid reason not to paste on center due to ES.

  6. Anyone changed their tyre for xv outside, what tyre brand and how much ?

    Whats your requirement?

Are you looking at performance (better traction) or silence (better noise insulation) tyres?

on the topic of Eyesight, has anyone had VEP stick done for entry into Malaysia?

    any problem?

very hesitate to have it done due to Eyesight for obvious reasons.

    Fyi, Some pasted on headlight
  7. For normal usual day driving I feel its all right la. Test drive it a few weeks ago and like its stability and handling.

The last time I test drive, they also said like unsure.

I'm more curious about the pricing.

Usually higher since more RND cost involved and passed on to consumers. Haha

Hope SE address to your inquiries soon.

    Good luck

  8. Subaru only turbo is good.

    Hybrid can forget about it.

I guess RND is moving towards safety aspect such as ES, SGP and such

Also not forgetting into eco environmental by introducing hydrid variant.

Of course everyone wants turbo, they are still available in WRX, STI, levorg and upcoming new Outback (if MI brings one with turbo variant)

  9. Cant comment on Honda Sensing since nvr driven before.

But I am currently driving a XV ES. Generally ES works fine in our road conditions. There are times when ES is disable due to heavy downpour, but it is understandable. Other than that, nvr had a issue with ES till date.

It is always good to have an additional pair of safety eyes to help keeping a lookout. And it is also good that the car makers are moving towards increasing safety aspect althought each technologies may be different.

But hey, safety at the end of each day is what we drivers want for ourselves and family, isn't it.

  10. Hi Reo,

Not furious but indeed upset back then after test drove the impreza with eyesight on 4 occasions .. as you rightfully mentioned it was a long time ago.

Certainly not hinting towards potential new car buyers towards mazda, I drives and loves my sti ts modded forester xt from MI.

You may be aware on this concern but hope new bros in mycarforum are similarly aware but yes, I would not risk no claim and do feel that MI should bear it for their new car buyers since I did had such bad experience with insurance company that I sincerely hope no bro will have to endure.

Frankly, I do not understand why you are seemingly upset and indeed it had been a long time. I only reminded here in mycarforum as I just came across this memo from Subaru usa on eyesight etc. ... is it because you took the risk and no wish to be reminded but yet cannot dispute such a risk ? If indeed the case and no wish to reverse this decision, I do recommend that you declare in your next insurance renewal on this aftermarket solar film on front windscreen and fingercrossed that it somehow get approved. Do keep us informed on the details to benefit others if indeed the case .. another reason for me to not to remind like a broken record :(

    Cheers.

    Richard

    Richard. Thanks.

Can see your posts all over in XV/Imp/new forester threads with regards to front solar film for ES.

We understood your good intention on the declaration with insurance if one were to install front solar film at own risk. But generally I think one reminder should be sufficient for potential buyers.

I guess owner whom had installed front solar film already did their due diligence.

Some even shared their positive experiences with front solar film installed. I am happy for them.

    Thanks again for your reminder.

  11. Test-driven this XV 2.0L eyesight model early this year.

Very solid feel vs similar compact suv eg Honda Vezel.

Feature packed - safety (eyesight, awd, subaru global platform etc), proven reliable engine and excellent road holding and driveability.

Competitive and attractive pricing for the lower end 2.0L suv/cross-over market niche.

Only drawback is only 380L of boot space and no driver electric seat. [important factors for me at that point in time]

With AWD, naturally FC is higher than normal 2-wheel drive cars.

    [Just my recollection n thots]

Indeed with smaller boot space but hey, the rear cabin leg space is amazing. I will rather sacrifice some boot spaces for my passengers to sit with comfort. And yes I do have a baby pram (folderable, travel type) in my car boot all the time with sufficient space for other stuffs. All these can be pre planned.

As for electric seat, unless you have more than 2 drivers on rotating basis, basically you only set for once.

    Cheers.
