Thanks, but what I need to know is whether hand polish is effective or will I need to use a machine? If hand polishing not effective to remove dirt streaks then I don't need to waste money buying the polish, just send to grooming workshop. 

Hi guys, my car is silver color. I was lazy and didn't wash for a few months. Now some areas can see dirt streaks caused by rain, and they don't come off when washing. I tried clay bar also cannot.

Should I buy polishing product and try to polish myself by hand to remove the streaks or do I need to send to professionals who can use the machine? 

Under network settings on my wife's S7, I recall seeing a toggle for mirrorlink. I assume you could turn it off and phone will charge via USB instead of trying to mirrorlink. I haven't tried it myself. Will try tomorrow

As soon as the phone plugs in, the screen goes black and shows mirrorlink. Cannot go to settings to turn mirrorlink off. 

When I plug in my wife's Samsung S7 into the usb cable in the car, the phone screen goes black and says Android Mirrorlink. How do I get out of mirrorlink so that the phone can use google maps?

This is probably a stupid question but I really can't figure out how to open the boot on my 2016 XT from the outside? 

From the driver seat if I press the button it opens up by motor. But if the car is locked and I am outside, I can't figure out how to open it with motor.  

Whether I unlock the car first or not, the boot does not open when I press the "rubber" button under the logo. I have to manually pull it open with my hands, and if I don't do it quickly it locks back up. 

This morning while exiting my carpark, there is a stop line in the carpark which a car did not stop. I had the right of way but I braked to prevent the accident. 

I was just wondering if I didn't brake, even though I clearly saw the other car, would I still be held partially at fault if I had right of way?

I collected my 2016 XT in April, want to check with you if you encounter this problem with the aircon? How come the outside air (and exhaust fumes)  keeps coming into the car? I turn on the internal air circulation button, but it auto switches off after a while and outside air starts coming in again. 

Anyone else encounter this?

Anyone with a new XT experience rattling sounds? Mine at around the 500km mark start to hear rattling sound when going over pot-holes or bumpy roads. Sounds like it's coming from the back of the car.

Mine is currently 400+km, 12.4L/100km. I don't know if this on the high side or normal, but I can say that I am 90-95% city driving rather than highway. 

Hi guys, does the XT have low tire pressure sensor?

Question for Forester owners - how do you change the fuel consumption display from L/100km to km/L? The manual says to press the trip button, but that doesn't change the units for me. It only changes from Trip A to Trip B.

Dunno if any of you have this issue with the phone contacts in your forester?  I collected my car yesterday, transferred all the phone contacts via Bluetooth. On my Iphone, the contacts are stored with country code because I travel overseas very often. So for example, my wife’s contact will have +65 XXX XXXX. When she calls me, whether I'm in Singapore or overseas, my phone will recognize accordingly with the correct caller id. 

I can see that the phone number transferred across to the Forester as +65 XXX XXXX. But when she calls me, on the forester, it shows up as unknown caller. In the call history, I see that the +65 is not there, only the XXX XXXX. Anyone encounter this before? 

I'm collecting my FXT tomorrow, woohoo! I know there's a new car checklist in the forum somewhere. Any other tips the experienced bros have specific to Forester when taking over the car?

Is it true that for AWD vehicles, if anything happen to one tire need to change all to match? If one tire punctured, or bald, all must change together?

Many thanks for clarifying. Looks like I'll wait for SE to inform me of date for final settlement. My loan already approved liao, and I'm not taking insurance from MI. 

It takes a while to settle all the paperwork such as bank loan approval for your new ride if you are taking loan, existing loan settlement if you are trading in vehicle with outstanding loan, insurance rebate etc etc. Any maybe your SE is top seller now so many clients waiting for him to settle.  

 

But SE should be able to tell you fairly accurate the date of handling over your new ride as taking over new vehicle is a very important event. Let's face it. Car is the second most expensive thing that you probably buy. The first being the roof over our head.

 

For my recent experience, my timeline is as follows

 

Wed - COE pio-ed

Following Thurs - Was informed full settlement amount

Friday -  Hand in final payment

Tues - Cheque cleared

Wed - Car registered

Thurs - Take over new vehicle

 

All in about 2 weeks from COE-pioed

I got my COE after 1st bid on wed! However, SE has not texted me about any details on making downpayment and other paperwork. It's already coming to weekend, I hope I don't have to wait till next weekend to do the paperwork.

When I placed my deposit, he told the car color I chose was already in-stock. 

It very depand how the bidding team bid for you... I got it 1 time.. I got price with non G bid

After reading a few of the posts here, I now regret not going for the non-G discount. Sigh..

I booked my XT yesterday after 3 months of hunting for a car! After a test drive it was love at first sight, such a joy to drive. The XT was the last car that I test-drove and I signed after 1 day of sleeping on it.

I really liked the jasmine green color on the manual, disappointed that it wasn't available. In the end went for the safe choice of silver. 

May I ask what freebies you guys negotiated for? I got the front camera.
