  1. Finally a major change in design language for the new Mini. This new Mini Electric look quite refreshing and modernized imo. The images were taken at a facility in China and posted to Chinese social media. In the photos, the undisguised Mini is accompanied by several other camouflaged models parked nearby. It has no visible tailpipe and a limited amount of air intake on the front end, which suggests that this is an electric model. The pictured model is badged with Mini’s “S” badging, designating that this is a higher-performance model. The other camouflaged Minis nearby all have the typical hood scoop of Mini’s S models, but the uncamouflaged version does not. These scoops are used for air intake, but electric cars need less air intake than ICE cars do, so the scoop is somewhat superfluous for an EV. The current Mini Cooper SE electric does have a hood scoop, however. The biggest exterior change is the rear taillights, which change in shape and pattern compared to previous models. They’re also connected by a horizontal black stripe across the whole rear of the vehicle. Current Mini models have patterns reminiscent of the Union Jack, the British flag, imprinted in their taillights. In the photos, it looks like a similar pattern might still be there but is obscured by vertical black lines covering it and by the triangular shape of the taillights. On the interior, the dashboard is a significant departure from current Minis. This new Mini has a flat, bare dash, no driver display, and a floating circular center screen as the main focal point of the car’s infotainment system. The dash has significantly fewer buttons, knobs, and switches than current models, though there are physical controls on the steering wheel and a few (stereotypically-Mini) switches underneath the screen. This lack of physical controls suggests that the circular screen will be a touchscreen. The small screen in front of the driver is a heads-up display, which is likely carried over from the current Minis.
  2. Hi asking for my dad. For the Non-S Cooper, how is the maintenance like? Fuel consumption, insurance and regular servicing cost (AD versus outside workshops) ? If getting used, anything to look out for? Thanks!
  3. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/678756/new-mini-cooper-audio-visual-technology/ Mini has already unveiled almost everything about the next-generation Cooper but the full debut isn’t coming until later this year. Today, the British manufacturer shares more details and photos of the hatchback’s cabin where new gimmicks will be implemented on both the audio and visual aspects of the technology. Mini seems to be especially proud of the circular OLED display that sits in the middle of the dashboard and has a diameter of 9.44 inches (240 millimeters). It says this is the industry’s first display of this size to feature OLED technology and more importantly, it will make its debut on the next-generation Mini models using the Mini Operating System 9. This is the latest version of BMW Group’s infotainment software based on an Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software stack. The new round display is also home to Mini’s new cloud-based navigation system, which provides charging-optimized route planning for the electric versions of the new Mini Cooper. Three-dimensional maps and an AI view are some of the new features the navigation system receives. The screen also provides access to the so-called Mini Experience Modes – Core, Green, and Go-Kart, each of which has its own specific interface design and additional light and sound effects. “Hey Mini” activates the company’s new intelligent voice assistant called Spike. It provides quick and easy control through voice commands of functions such as navigation, telephony, radio, and temperature. Optional 5G connectivity ensures the new interface can be quickly updated through over-the-air updates, which should happen several times a year. Last but not least, the high-speed connectivity provides access to the Mini Connected Store where different applications can be downloaded, including AirConsole games, video streaming apps, Spotify, and others. Speaking of the new Mini’s audio capability, the automaker promises “unmistakable sound” for the all-electric models. This includes new driving sounds in the cabin, a different sound from the outside, different jingles for the different Experience Modes, and 30 new sound signals with information and warning functions. “We are taking a massive leap into the digital world with the new Mini family and, in so doing, underscoring the charismatic heritage of the brand. The iconic central display in the new Mini family is round and will be filled with round content for the first time. I am convinced that the digital power of the new models will delight Mini customers around the world,” says Stefanie Wurst, head of the Mini brand. As a reminder, the new electric Mini will be available as the entry-level Cooper E with a front-mounted 181-horsepower electric motor and a 40.7-kilowatt-hour battery for an estimated 186-mile range in Europe's WLTP test cycle. Above it, the Cooper SE has a slightly more powerful 215-hp electric motor and a larger 54.2-kWh battery pack.
  4. A Mini Cooper S launched itself at a Toyota camcar in Kluang, causing a massive jam and turning both cars into wrecks on their sides. What happened? The camcar was sitting at the junction when the Mini turned in towards the camcar's right, going too fast and hitting the camcar head on. This resulted in both cars being flipped on their side. We can see in the video that debris littered the road, metal and glass coming from the damaged bodywork of both cars. Some passersby helped out to get the cars back on their wheels in order to be towed away. The accident caused a traffic jam that went for an unknown distance. The conditions of the drivers are unknown. Online chatter Many people were angered by the Mini’s unsafe driving, and took note of its Singapore registration to use it as an example of bad Singaporean drivers. Some also made fun of the Mini’s spoiler, which was unable to give it enough downforce to keep from flipping. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 5. TL;DR - Cam car rear ended Mini Cooper along Sembawang Road and seeks advice on what s/he should do next. What to do if you hit a car from behind in Singapore? Watch this 28-second clip of the cam car kissing the back of the Mini Cooper. What happened? The cam car was traveling a safe distance behind the Mini when the Mini decided to filter lane and brake simultaneously. This caused the cam car to bang into it as s/he did not manage to react and e-brake fast enough. 0% defensive driving skills… 100% zoning out… Just a random question I had in mind while watching the video: Is it true that all rear end collisions are caused by the vehicle behind? Cautionary Reminder It is important to keep a safe distance between your vehicle and other vehicles or non-motorists on the road. If you drive a car in Singapore, a following-distance of at least one car length for every 16 km/h of your speed is advised, so that you can come to a stop within a safe distance of the car in front of you. Online Chatter There seems to be a mini (geddit?) debate in the comments section. There are people who are siding the cam car, sharing their two cents on this situation. But of course, the majority has come to a consensus that it is the cam car’s fault. Takeaway To practice road safety in Singapore, you not only need to know the rules set out for you, but you need to be vigilant of all road users, regardless of the type of vehicle. Always keep a safe distance, so that you are not forced to brake abruptly. So who do you think is at fault in this rear-end collision? You be the judge in the comments box below. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  6. Integrity is an essential character-building value that requires one to be accountable and accept responsibility for his/her actions. Essentially, it can be understood as "doing the right thing, even when no one is looking". Unfortunately for this couple, integrity means nothing to them. Watch this video to find out why: The Backstory The owner of the Mini Cooper returned to the Multi-storey carpark (MSCP), only to discover her damaged Mini Cooper. A gentleman, the eyewitness, informed her that the Toyota Corolla beside her reversed into her car twice while parking. Later, she learned that the kind eyewitness had waited in the carpark because a note that he placed on the Mini Cooper, which contained his personal contact information, had gone missing. Shortly after, the couple driving the Toyota Corolla, AKA the culprits, returned to the MSCP. After the Mini driver confronted them, the couple acted blur and brushed her off. The husband allegedly turned aggressive and shouted at the Mini driver, "I pay lah, what's the big deal? I pay!", only to be instructed by his wife to get into the car and ignore the Mini driver. Even when the Mini driver was on a call with the Traffic Police and instructed them to stay until TP arrived at their location, the couple ignored and attempted to drive off. Unfortunately for the couple, their attempt was caught in the above video. Attempted To Run Her Over In the process of preventing the couple from driving off, the Mini driver stood in front of the Toyota Corolla. However, the driver continued to drive off, endangering the victim's life. The Consequence Under section 84 of the Road Traffic Act, the driver at fault is liable to perform the following: Stop their vehicle. Provide their personal information to the accident victim(s), including passengers or pedestrians, upon request. Report the accident to the police within 24 hours. Provide assistance if the accident involves injury or death to another person. Do not move the vehicle(s) involved in the accident. To all those reading this article, please do not endanger your life in the process of retaining a hit and run culprit - Your safety is of paramount importance. Netizens' Comments Somemore bo ji to own up to their own mistakes. If you have a solid parking technique, you won't have to rely on reverse cameras😉 This couple really ownself pwn ownself. I guess you can add "Dangerous driving - Driving against the flow of traffic" to the list of traffic charges. ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! 7. hi,need advised from expert whether is it expensive to repair a mini cooper clubman 2009 and recommend workshop? https://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=971684&DL=3819
  8. cute! if its very cheap might be fun to drive around in... untitled.bmp
  9. Hi all, Am looking for used car and had narrowed down to 2016 Mini Cooper 1.5 & 2016-2018 BMW 118i. Both having same engines while one is Aisin 6 speed auto and the other is ZF 8 speed transmission. Will maintainance, repair cost and cost for spare parts be around the same since both are actually BMWs? I think both are prone to oil and water leakages as well? Also, which car can withstand creeping/inching while in heavy traffic congestions? Because I will be travelling to JB almost 2 days a week (of course not during the CB now) so would like to know which one can actually ‘tahan’ traffic jam for long hours. Am not looking at DSG transmission as this one confirm cannot withstand creeping/inching for long duration. Your inputs to help me decide which of these 2 cars will be highly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
  10. Hi there, I’m getting my ride next weekend. Currently it is fitted with 18’. Any fellow mini buddies out there fitted with 19’? Can you share your views? Is the ride really very much Firmer?
  11. Spotted a Mini Cooper in Punggol with no car plate behind. Camo pattern paint with super dark windows. Anyone seen before?
  12. Besides agent, any other workshop can service Mini Cooper with excellent service? Need to do some repair work for a Mini Cooper . Thanks
  13. MINI fans who want the best Cooper S variant will want the John Cooper Works (JCW) GP. The good news is that the car is already in the works but it won't be ready anytime soon. Historically, it comes as an end-of-the-line model, which means buyers of the JCW GP will have a couple of years more to wait. Both generations of the previous JCW GP feature stripped-out cockpits with no back seats as well as upgraded engines, brakes, suspension and other parts to make them the hardest-core iterations of their base models. In an interview with Autocar, MINI's chief, Peter Schwarzenbauer was quoted saying, “The John Cooper Works GP is an important part of the Mini brand. It has worked well for us in the past and I don’t see why it wouldn’t again in the future.” For those who can't wait, the 'normal' John Cooper Works will have to do for now...
  14. Hi All, Please share with me if you guys have any good workshop to recommend, i'm driving a nine years old cooper S
  15. Having sampled the excellent F56 Cooper S when we went up to KL to interview the talented men that created the cool MINI Cooper S video, I was looking forward to drive the lesser Cooper. Lesser? Maybe not. While it may have 56 less horses and one cylinder less, it is by no means slow or boring. The car also takes 7.8 seconds to hit the century mark, which is 1.1 seconds faster than its distant sibling in the family, the BMW 116i hatcback. Putting the car into SPORT mode makes it even more alert. Go-kart feel? Definitely feels like it, with its compact dimensions and well-sorted handling. I especially like the way the rear tries to assist in turning and its agility. And then when you try to poke deeper into its menus, you can see sweet little details that make the driver smile. Like, instead of naming it 'Sport Displays', MINI calls it 'Driving Excitement'. Which will then show how much power and torque you are trying to put to the wheels. For the eagle-eyed, this photo is from a Cooper S ;) Another nice touch is this bright red start-stop toggle. Elsewhere in the cabin, you will find useful spaces which would prove useful in storing stuff on your B-road blasts across the Causeway. While the pure MINI fans may disagree, moving the window controls to where they should be is one of the best improvement for the F56 MINI in my opinion. So is the Cooper lesser than a Cooper S? Not at all! I barely miss the extra poke and it might actually ride better than its more well-endowed brother while being just as fun to pilot. Like they say, less might indeed be more. Read the full review of the MINI Cooper here.
  16. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...106&DL=1086 Looking to get a spare car for zipping around during the weekends. This model looks cool with good price till I saw the total owners=6! Anyone knows the history of this car and if upkeep will be an issue for mini? TIA!
  17. Here is the second-gen MINI Cooper Clubman: a six-door MINI wagon, so to speak, with a unique split-opening tailgate and lengthened body. No official details have been spilled just yet, but going off the pictures here, we can tell that it’s all wildly different from its predecessor. Visibly longer than the MINI Cooper hatch is one thing to note, but that rear-end design is something we’ve never seen yet: those taillights are especially attention grabbing. As we imagine, the new Clubman will be underpinned by the BMW Group’s UKL1 front-wheel drive architecture, which also holds the latest-gen MINI hatch together, as well as the BMW X1, and 2 Series Gran Tourer and Active Tourer. Around the rear of the Clubman is where you’ll find its unique distinctions, primarily in the form of two doors that open into the cargo area. Engine wise, we could see the new MINI feature the BMW Group’s latest three- and four-cylinder engines, all of which adhering to BMW’s new 500cc per cylinder philosophy.
  18. You’re looking at the most powerful production Mini ever made: the 2015 Mini John Cooper Works. Behind that mess of mesh grilles is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot with 228bhp and 236lb ft, a 10% power hike and a 23% torque increase over the outgoing JCW. Line the two cars up for a drag race and the new one will scorch its way from 0-100km/h in about 6 seconds, two tenths quicker than its predecessor. That’s with the standard six-speed manual ’box – speccing the optional six-speed ‘Steptronic’ auto sees the sprint time tumble to 6.1 seconds. Top speed is a hairy 152mph. To help the JCW avoid torque-steering its way through the nearest hedge it gets altered suspension and steering settings compared with the Cooper S, together with all kinds of electronic programs with confusing acronyms; DTC, DSC, EDLC… The latter is Electronic Differential Lock Control, which uses microchips to imitate the effect of a mechanical locking diff and help the Mini claw its way out of corners without smoking all that power away. New four-piston Brembo brakes get it stopped, while electronically controlled dampers are an option. The MINI John Cooper Works will make its appearance at the 2015 Detroit motor show in January before going on sale in April 2015.
  19. What do you all think? Do you all agree the MCS is the most powerful 1.6L road car ever produced (don't talk about others with mods or racing of course)
  20. I'm really in a dilemma between these 2 models.... they only difference in the turbo and it's only bout SGD 200 odds.... any suggestions? By the way I need some takers for my Honda if possible... sigh...
  21. We have seen the new MINI Cooper on various media platforms. And now MINI has presented the Cooper S in a short film - to let viewers catch a glimpse of what the real deal is about. The new car's styling is more evolution than revolution, with the hatch taking on conventional proportions which makes it instantly recognisable as the motoring icon. Despite retaining the classic MINI design, the new car has grown - 98mm longer, 44mm wider and 7mm taller than its predecessor. The wheelbase has also been extended by 28mm - with wider tracks at the front and rear. These changes should give it the dynamic handling characteristics which the hatch is known for. In the aim of better functionality, the new MINI has 'lost' the iconic central speedometer. Electric window switches are also moved to the door cards for 'better ease of operation'. Looks like MINI is all out to tackle the mass market here. Now jump to the video below to catch the Cooper S - and listen to the sweet exhaust noise from the hot hatch. http://dai.ly/x1gtvke
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YL7pURth3oThe latest vehicle to make an appearance in Jay Leno's garage is a twin-engined 2002 MINI Cooper. Think of it as one man's very straight forward way of doubling his car's horsepower. The MINI has its original engine and transaxle at the front as normal, but it also has a duplicate powertrain at the back, driving the rear wheels. It's a setup similar to the twin-engined Honda CRX project car built by Car and Driver in the 1980s. Weirdly, the decision to build a twin-engined, all-wheel drive MINI Cooper seemed fiscally responsible to its builder, Jacques Andres. He told Jay that having two cheaper four-cylinder engines made more sense than having one big, expensive V-8. Each 1.6-liter supercharged four-cylinder produces about 250 horsepower. It also gives Andres a backup: each engine can be operated individually, so the car can limp home with two-wheel drive in a pinch. However, the starting procedure is a bit more complex than the average MINI: each engine runs individually (although they're fed from the same fuel pump and tank), so they have to be started one at a time. The car isn't just for show; it spends plenty of time on the track mixing it up with other MINI racers and the occasional Porsche. What else would you do with a car like this?
  23. Lego isn't just for kids anymore. A while back, the company cleverly realized that adults liked its connecting blocks as much as kids but wanted a more sophisticated project to take on. It offers a whole set of Expert models, including a wickedly cool Volkswagen Bus from a few years ago. Now, it's taking aim at automotive enthusiasts again with the recently announced classic Mini Cooper set due to go on sale on August 1 for US$99.99. This is a seriously cool Lego model. At nine inches long, five inches wide and four inches tall, the car is certainly compact (as a Mini should be), but it contains 1,077 pieces. It's finished in the classic Mini look with a British Racing Green body with white roof, hood stripes and mirror caps. The doors, hood and trunk all open up, and there's even a little, simulated engine. The interior includes features like a turning steering wheel and movable gearshift and handbrake. In the boot, there is a cute picnic set, and even a spare tire hidden under the floor. If you want to show off your handiwork after it's built, the roof is removable to peer inside. Expect dads around the world to be unwrapping these when the holidays roll around. Scroll down to watch one of Lego's designers detailing its latest set and read the full release about it, below. The gallery shows the Mini off from all of its blocky angles, as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_Ud4Hp5kkw
  24. Hi ppl! Mini Cooper has always been my dream car (somehow just like this small & cute car). Having searched online for the past few days, I've more or less decided to get myself a 2nd hand (abt 5 years old) Mini Cooper S / Cabriolet. Any owner of Mini Cooper S / Cabriolet that can advise on the performance or sturdiness of the car? Any issue with the turbo charged engine? Or maybe the convertible top? Etc. Any feedback / advice is welcomed & much appreciated. Cheers.
