As detailed in my previous post on the Electric cars thread. Looks like going to be bread van driver in coming years. Features, specs and trims can be easily found on websites. Things can change as more PHEV models come into play. But given the focus on Crossovers and Alphard-sized competitors by the Chinese EV makers. I think this JDM category will be one of the last to get targeted. Last night i spent some time looking for Japan crash ratings for the 3 above vehicles. All 3 should have the full suite of driver safety tech assistants. Spada Noah/Voxy Serena All 3 have 5 star japanese ratings. However i think if you look at the structural at the middle part of the vehicle, on the frontal and frontal overlap crash testing, the Toyota comes off best, maybe serena edges out Spada. For side collision, the Serena comes off best, followed by Noah. The Spada toppled over which is not good.

Yahoo : K-pop star Goo Hara found dead at her home K-pop star Goo Hara was found dead at her home on Sunday, South Korean police confirmed. Goo, a former member of girl group Kara, was discovered at her home in Seoul early Sunday evening, officers said. The exact cause of death was still under investigation, they added. South Korea has one of the world's highest rates of suicide which, according to recent government figures, is among the top causes of death for those under 40. The 28-year-old's death comes a month after Sulli -- another K-pop star and Goo's close friend -- took her own life after a long struggle with online bullying. The singer had posted a tearful message on her Instagram shortly after Sulli's death, grieving the passing of her friend. In messages posted on social media, fans mourned Goo's death, with one writing: "I hope you have a good sleep in heaven without any worries." After performing in Kara from 2008 to 2015, she focused on her solo career after the group broke up and had just completed a tour of Japan with her latest release. Keep rushing till underrun. Poor interaction between Guo Liang and Chantelle. She is simply parroting what Guo Liang says and not complementing him at all. She can't cover for him when he make mistakes. I understand we should give newbies a chance but I think they should have added in another experienced host, with Chantelle supplementing them. Less pressure for her too. This year Star Awards is painful to watch.

Truck casually carries van on S'pore expressway
kobayashiGT posted a topic in General Car Discussion
Source: https://mothership.sg/2024/09/truck-man-can-carry-van/ Some days you're just hanging by your fingertips. A video on social media shows a truck heading down a highway loaded with an unusual and precarious cargo: a whole van. Truckzilla The arrangement appeared to be secured by at least two straps, which appear to be attached to the rear wheels of the van, and the bed of the Isuzu truck. For an extra little hint of safety to the whole affair, a warning "flag" was attached to the passenger van, in the form of a large red plastic bag. The driver of the camera vehicle tailed the van carrying truck for at least 30 seconds, at one point voicing what many people felt when watching it: "Apa ini? Tak malu?" ("What is this? [Do they have] no shame?") Weight limits and warning flags Comments on the the video were scathing, with several suggesting that the police or the Land Transport Authority (LTA) should be alerted, suggesting that the load was illegal. On Reddit, there was significant debate as to what specific law the truck was breaking. In July 2024, Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat was asked by MP Gan Thiam Poh about the conditions mandated by LTA for vehicles transporting "very large and bulky items on public roads" — which probably includes a van. Chee replied that vehicles transporting large and bulky items were subject to regulations. All loads on such vehicles are required to be properly secured. From the hardly-conclusive 30 seconds of footage, the truck did encounter some bumps, and the van moved up and down with those bumps. However, it did not appear in danger of falling off at that particular moment. The other requirement is that if the vehicle's load extended beyond its rear by more than 30cm, it needed a visual warning for other road users in the form of "a clean red flag". While a plastic bag isn't much, it's something. Tall, but not too tall The One Motoring website says another requirement is that vehicles whose height exceeds 4.5m require a police escort. The height of the truck bed and the van did not appear to breach that. So while the setup certainly had a hazardous feeling to it, it remains unclear whether it was actually illegal. One commenter noted that the Isuzu truck had a Y-plate, indicating that it was a heavy goods vehicle (HGV), and thus had a weight limit of about 3,500 kg. One Motoring says that the maximum laden weight of an HGV was 16,000kg, but that is likely dependent on the capability of the vehicle in question. Scrapyard wars One commenter said that the van being carried was, ironically, a Suzuki Carry. They noted the van's age and lack of a licence plate, suggesting that it was destined for scrapping. Another comment on the original video said that the Carry was being carried without an engine, making it more likely that the setup met weight restrictions. What none of the comments explained was how the van was loaded on the truck bed in the first place. But they did take time to scold the driver, saying that by tailing the truck in the way he did, he had put himself in a Final Destination-style caper.- 23 replies

The Star Vista. Probably best known as the mall owned by New Creation Church. Being un-religious, I basically know it as the place where I attend a lot of concerts (most recently the fantastic Distant Worlds concert!). As an Eastie, there's previous little reason else to go all the way to Buona Vista for what is otherwise a fairly generic (upmarket) shopping mall. Manoeuvrability: Tight or not? Most of the carpark is generally not hard to get around, but there is one particular portion that’s tricky. When you come off any down ramp, there’s a tight, narrow and S-shaped section (snaking around a lift lobby) that can be tricky, especially for wider and longer cars. Just take it slow, and you shouldn’t have any issue. 7/10 Ease of navigation: Confusing or not? This carpark is pretty idiot-proof. The shape is not confusing, traffic is one-way, lots are clearly marked (the light on top indicates availability), there are lots of signs pointing you the right way, and overall carpark visibility is quite good. 9/10 Lot availability: Crowded or not? Star Vista is a curious place. On most days, it’s not going to be super crowded, and with over 800 lots available finding space should not be too hard. However, because of the Star Theatre, which hosts both church services on weekends as well as big music events, there are times when it can get very crowded. The peculiarity of the crowd surge is that because these events end at a particular timing and a lot of people are then trying to exit at the same time, traffic getting out can get quite bad. This is made worse by the fact that the up ramp filters into a single lane together with the cars on the upper level exiting, creating a bottleneck (it’s especially bad on B2 because one of the exit gantries is quite near said bottleneck). 3/10 or 7/10, depending on the day Cost: Expensive of not? $1.80 an hour from Mon to Sat, $2.30 an hour on Sundays. That’s slightly pricey. Not that there’s many other options around. The next-door Rochester Mall is slightly cheaper at $1.30 an hour, but obviously not as convenient. Worth noting: On Sundays and public holidays, full-day parking is capped at $10 (catering to the church crowd, I’m guessing). 6/10 EV Chargers: Can charge or not? There are 3 Tesla Superchargers there, but no ‘normal’ ones. So, it’s a bit tricky to answer depending on whether you are driving a Tesla or not. Tesla owner? Great. Any other EV? Terrible. 0/10 or 8/10. Motorcycle lots: Bike-friendly or not? Decent amount of lots are available, and at $1.08 per entry reasonably priced as well. 8/10 Accessibility: Can find or not? The carpark entrances are not hard to find. However, on event days, traffic towards the carpark, especially coming from North Buona Vista Road, is going to be heavy and slow going (there’s a single right-turning lane, which causes quite a back up). 7/10 Overall design: Good or not? Overall, the design of the Star Vista carpark is quite good. Bottlenecks happen, but that’s more to do with the nature of the crowd (big groups leaving at the same timing) rather than poor design. It would be nice if there were more EV charging options for non-Teslas, and yes it’s on the pricey side, but hey, it’s The Star Vista. You kinda expect things to be pricey. 7/10 ~ Desmond

SINGAPORE - Electric van leasing company EVCo has been put under insolvent liquidation, with debts of almost $50 million. EVCo, also known as Strides DST, is 60 per cent owned by transport operator SMRT’s business arm Strides Holdings and 40 per cent by Dishangtie Green Technology (Hong Kong). The two-year-old firm was incorporated in March 2022 with a paid-up capital of $10 million. The company was put under provisional liquidation not long after its former chief executive officer Fuji Foo and chief financial officer Janice Low were arrested in connection with a police investigation in late 2023. A list of creditors obtained by The Straits Times showed that as at Feb 28, there were 28 creditors with $49.4 million due to them. It is not immediately clear if more creditors had come forward since Feb 28. The list showed that the biggest amount is due to OCBC Bank, which is owed $47.6 million. SMRT itself is owed $38,675, while various Strides-related units are owed a combined amount of around $590,000. Baker Tilly has been appointed liquidator. Mr Timothy Reid, a principal at Baker Tilly, said the company is in insolvent liquidation – meaning whatever remaining cash and assets will not be enough to repay all its debts. Sources said assets include a fleet of China-made electric vans, which would have devalued substantially on the back of sliding certificate of entitlement prices. Electric vehicles left unused for a prolonged period are also likely to suffer from battery degradation. Mr Reid added that all the creditors so far are unsecured creditors, which implies that there is no defined priority as to who gets repaid first. While it is not common for banks to give unsecured loans, especially to start-ups, The Straits Times understands that some do so based on the standing of a parent company or majority shareholder; in this case, Temasek-owned SMRT. As Strides-DST is a private limited company, the liability of its shareholders is limited to the amount of capital they contributed. When contacted, SMRT would only say that EVCo had gone into voluntary liquidation and an independent liquidator has been appointed. Strides-DST chairwoman Judy Lee was unreachable for comment. Meanwhile, OCBC Bank would not comment, citing Singapore’s banking secrecy Act. One creditor, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “I’m speechless. But I’ll say that this is down to poor management, poor execution and exploiting loopholes.” In October 2022, the company announced its target to have a fleet of 2,000 electric vans for a vehicle-sharing programme, which allows SMEs different leasing packages, including a pay-per-use option. Half a year after it was set up, EVCo said it would have 550 vans ready from January 2023. In March 2023, the company registered 197 Chinese-made Shineray electric vans. EVCo is the only company to offer this brand of vehicle in Singapore. According to the Land Transport Authority, there were 218 Shineray vehicles registered in 2023. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/electric-van-leasing-firm-evco-declared-insolvent-with-debts-of-close-to-50m

Before there was such a thing as industrial design, there was the Citroen Type H van. Built from 1947 to 1981, the H Van used corrugated body panels to save weight, material, and manufacturing costs. Now, Citroen is revisiting the Type H with the Type Holidays, built on the current Spacetourer platform. The angular corrugated bodywork returns, this time with a pop-up roof. Under the pop-up, the interior sports a two-row bench seat that converts into a bed, along with a double bed for sleeping up to four people. A kitchenette includes a fridge, sink, and cooking area, while the toilet and rear bench can be removed to increase cargo area when not camping. Citroen debuted the Type Holidays at the Dusseldorf Caravan Show earlier in September and announced that it will be taking orders soon.

Source: https://mustsharenews.com/van-driver-marshal-traffic/ Van Driver Helps Marshal Traffic At Jalan Bukit Merah Road Junction In a world where we sometimes feel increasingly disconnected from each other, a voluntary act of kindness can shine more brightly than ever. When we all constantly have places to be, it is even more admirable when someone sacrifices their own time for the good of others. That was precisely what one van driver did when he volunteered to marshal traffic to aid drivers stuck at a road junction. He stepped up to help out after the traffic lights went out, and earned praise from netizens for guiding oncoming traffic like a pro. Van driver marshals traffic skillfully in the middle of road On 23 Dec (Friday), Facebook user Richard Lau shared the man’s good deed to the Singapore Incidents group. Based on the video, the incident appears to have taken place at the Jalan Bukit Merah road junction. According to Mr Lau, the traffic lights at the road junction had gone out and he was wondering how to cross the road. He then said the van driver came down suddenly, walked into the middle of traffic, and started guiding the vehicles right away. Dressed casually in an orange shirt and slippers, the man appeared unfazed by the busy traffic as he stepped into his role as a temporary traffic marshal. At one point, he put up both hands to halt vehicles coming from one direction while waving forth a car from the opposite direction. Seeing that all the cars were “listening to him”, OP saluted the van driver, calling his traffic marshalling skills “impressive”. Netizens heap praise on van driver for marshalling traffic The van driver’s selflessness and nifty manoeuvring of traffic drew praise from many netizens, including one who said he deserves a medal. Another commenter gave him a “thumbs up” for helping out before authorised personnel came on the scene. Some surmised that the man might have been a traffic police officer while in National Service (NS), judging by his skills. Another user echoed his sentiment by sharing a theory that the van driver may have worked as a traffic police officer before. One netizen commended the van driver’s bravery for putting himself in the middle of traffic, as dangerous as it might have been. An inspiration to step up whenever we can Although the van driver’s traffic marshalling came with some risk, it was undoubtedly a generous act that helped many others get to their destinations safely that day. While it doesn’t mean we should all attempt the exact same thing, it does serve as an inspiration to help others in ways that we know best.

https://www.straitstimes.com/life/entertainment/action-star-bruce-willis-diagnosed-with-dementia Action star Bruce Willis has been diagnosed with untreatable dementia, his family said on Thursday, less than a year after he retired from acting because of growing cognitive difficulties. The 67-year-old US actor, known for his role in the Die Hard franchise, stepped away from Hollywood in March 2022 and has been out of the limelight since then. “Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, his condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia,” a statement from his family said. Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is an umbrella term for disorders affecting the areas of the brain that deal with personality, behaviour and language. “Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces,” the family said. “While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis. “Today, there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead.” Doctors say the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain shrink in a patient with FTD. The cause of this is not known, but it can result in personality changes or modifications in behaviour that might make someone socially inappropriate, impulsive or apparently uncaring towards those around them. Other sufferers lose their ability to use language. The Mayo Clinic says FTD can begin between the ages of 40 and 65, and is the cause of up to a fifth of all dementia cases. The family statement, signed by Willis’ current wife, Emma Heming Willis, as well as former wife, actress Demi Moore, and his children Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel and Evelyn, said the actor had always worked to raise awareness about important issues. “We know in our hearts that – if he could today – he would want to respond by bringing global attention and a connectedness with those who are also dealing with this debilitating disease and how it impacts so many individuals and their families,” it said. Willis has been a fixture on the small and large screen since the 1980s, coming to public prominence in the TV series Moonlighting (1985 to 1989). But it was as hard-bitten hero John McClane in the Die Hard movies (1988 to 2013) that he became a bankable major star of the cinema, sparking a career that has generated billions of dollars in box-office revenue. Despite the tough-guy image, he has also had much success with more family-friendly fare, and provided the voice for the baby in the popular Look Who’s Talking movies (1989 to 1993). Another of his best-known roles was as the dead person that child actor Haley Joel Osment could see in The Sixth Sense (1999). Reaction from the entertainment industry was swift. “Love you so much my friend,” wrote Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul on Rumer Willis’ Instagram. “Sending hugs to you and that beautiful family of yours. Your pops is such a damn legend.” Jumanji and Cars star Bonnie Hunt wrote on Demi Moore’s Instagram page: “An abundance of love for you dear Demi, for Bruce, for all of you.” Willis won a Golden Globe and two Emmys during his career. It is not everyday that you see a van smash into a fence and consequently flip over into the opposing lane after a drift. Watch this 14 second video and try not to chuckle: Context as to what happened before the video is unclear, but it seems that the van vehicle lost control of his van, failing to control the drift. He then proceeds to crash into the road divider fence and break into the opposing lane, almost causing another accident with an oncoming car. As you can see in this screenshot, the van is at an unrecoverable angle of drift. We can only imagine how freaked out the van driver must be. We also speculate that he might have tried to avoid another car, thus having to swerve his vehicle so violently. The van then lands on its side, almost hitting an oncoming vehicle. Luckily, the driver seems to not have been seriously injured as he was seen moving in the van even after flipping over. A netizen states that vans always drive quickly, but do not have the ability to take corners. This is a true statement that we feel van drivers should be wary of, especially when most of them do not change tyres regularly, resulting in low levels of grip. Another netizen says that van and lorry drivers are increasingly using the fast lanes on highways. He thinks that the traffic police has to up their game in keeping a lookout for such drivers, since they will most likely exceed their 60km/h to 70km/h speed limit there. This comment got us thinking. Maybe Singapore should implement stronger fences to prevent such accidents from happening? Let this video be a reminder to us not to make rash decisions on the road, and to slow down if we are unaware of the situation at bay. Also, we should never overestimate the abilities of the vehicle we are driving, regardless of whether it is a car or van. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. TL:DR – A man and a woman engage in an act that requires head bobbing (and tissue) in the driver seat of a van. In broad daylight. For the whole world to see. Remember that whole incident about the couple testing the Volkwagen Golf suspension last year? We have a new 2022 version with a different couple, different vehicle but not as vigorous compared to last year’s incident. Watch the 34-second video here Skills +10000? We do not know how long the lady in the video had been bobbing her head prior to this video. What we do know is that just a mere 7-seconds into the video and the deed is done. Out comes some tissue to clean her hands, her mouth and her partner’s lower region. Is that a public display of some mad skills? Or maybe the man has been cursed with premature…. Why do it in the open when you have a van? There’s a whole closed off compartment at the back of the van where they would have had more discretion. But I guess discretion wasn’t what they were going for. Online Chatter I’m loving some of the comments. People are trying to make up funny excuses as to what the couple were doing. 🔼THIS ONE MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD!🔼 Wah. TL;DR - A van slammed into a double decker bus on the expressway on a wet wet night. The vehicle skidded from the first to the third lane and got T-boned by an oncoming double-decker bus. At its most basic, a 'drift' is movement of a car along some direction other than its steered trajectory, involving a slip angle at one or both axles. Watch this 44-second clip to see how the van swerved from lane 1 to lane 3. What happened? Rainy weather usually sees more accidents due to the roads being slippery and vehicles can skid a lot easier. The van driver was speeding on lane 1 when s/he lost control of the vehicle and skidded, crashing into a double decker SBS Transit bus. It doesn’t take much IQ to know that rain = wet = slippery = dangerous. The van driver could’ve caused the lives of many, especially if there were commuters on the bus. Online Chatter Why is the van even on lane 1 a.k.a the fast lane when the other lanes are pretty clear? Perhaps s/he would’ve gotten less hate if it was on lane 2 since such vehicles have a road speed limit of 70km/h. And FYI, 70km/h is not meant to be on the fast lane! Tips for all drivers If it is raining cats and dogs, it is important to slow down, use your wipers and keep to the middle lane - side lanes always experience the most water splash! Oh, also make sure your car is in good condition to weather the storm - make sure your tires are not ‘botak’! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. With Good Friday around the corner, here’s a wholesome story about treating strangers with compassion and kindness! What happened? During a downpour yesterday in the east side of Singapore, this cam car caught a heartwarming encounter that even the most cynical of us can appreciate and smile upon. At the junction of Joo Chiat and Still Road, a primary school boy was caught in the rain with no shelter or protection from the harsh rain. We can see the torrent of the rain from the thick splashes on the cam car’s windshield. A fine drizzle, this was not. The boy was seen pacing around while waiting to cross the road, presumably due to the cold. The Nissan van driver in front of the cam car saw this, and exited with an umbrella in hand. The driver passed the umbrella to the student before rushing back inside the van. Online chatter The comments were united in praising the uncle for his kindness, some hoping to see him rewarded somehow in the future. People hoped to see more of such heartwarming posts as well, as such behaviour is rarely seen or documented on Singapore’s roads (We would know). ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Source: https://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech-news-karcher-kleanstar-automatic-car-wash-esso-lorong-chuan-price The ongoing labour crunch has forced businesses to look at ways to automate certain aspects of their operations. And for Esso petrol stations, it means the comeback of the automatic car wash. Beginning today, car washes at Esso's Lorong Chuan outlet will be a mostly automated affair thanks to the installation of a Karcher Klean!Star car wash system. Apart from freeing up manpower for other more high-value tasks, the Karcher system is also efficient in its use of water. According to Karcher, its Klean!Star system can recycle as much as 85% of the water used in a wash. The collected water is sent to two holding tanks under the car wash and is then recycled using a Karcher water treatment unit. Karcher claims that in doing so, the system can save 6.57 million litres of water a year (based on 120 car washes a day). Ensuring a thorough wash To ensure a thorough yet scratch-free wash, the system uses specially-designed polyethylene foam brushes that are gentle on the paint. Furthermore, sensors are used to guide and the brushes and the brushes themselves were designed so that they don't trap debris – owners can be assured that the brushes are clean for each wash. Check it out in action above. The wheels are said to be one of the hardest parts of a car to clean and to do that the Klean!Star system has a dedicated wheel wash unit that has integrated high-pressure water jets and sensors to ensure wheels of all sizes are properly cleaned. Finally, after the cars are cleaned, a high-pressure blower is deployed to blow dry the car. Again, sensors are used to ensure the blower follows the contours of the car as closely as possible to ensure proper drying. My thoughts Having seen the system in action, it seems to do a decent job for the price. I saw two cars being washed and they looked fresh after the process. The blow dryer does a fairly good job too. I'd say the cars were about 85% dry after coming out from the car wash. The main advantage of this system is that it ensures consistent performance, as opposed to manual washing where the quality of the wash can differ depending on who's doing the job and at what time of the day. Do I think it's superior to detailing studios or specialised car washing operations? Probably not. A manual wash done by professionals is likely going to yield better results. However, they cost more, take longer, and are often located in places that are not so accessible. At the price, I think it's worth a try to see if it's something that'll work for you. Locations and pricing The Karcher Klean!Star system is currently in operation at Esso Lorong Chuan with more locations coming in the months ahead. Two other locations currently undergoing installation works include Esso Toa Payoh Lorong 2 and Esso Bedok North. They will come online later this year. Prices of a wash start at S$11 for a regular sedan.

Fatal accident at Woodlands: Van hits baby stroller with a child inside
Fadevfast posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
A van hit a child in a baby stroller today at a carpark in Woodlands St 32, resulting in the death of the child and injuries for their brother and mother. What happened? It is believed that the mother was beside the red taxi shown in the video, pushing the stroller out of the carpark. A loud bang was heard when the van hit the stroller, and onlookers rushed to help. An ambulance was called immediately but to no avail as the child had already passed away. The mother was seen screaming and crying in despair. The child’s brother was in a similarly distraught state, jumping up and down helplessly. Facebook users gave the family their condolences and prayers. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Would appreciate recommendations on models that are reliable and have reasonable service costs. Looking at those that are 7 years old or more or even COE renewal type. Any particular models to check out? Not sure if the kangos are ok or I should stick to Japanese brands. Thanks.

Van driver continuously mistreats female passenger by hitting and strangling her
millanda posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
TL;DR - A van driver was caught physically abusing a female passenger by grabbing her head back and forth. It seems like they were in a heated argument where the man loses it and trashes her. Controversial topic but agree to disagree: Chivalry is dead (almost, kinda?) Watch this 26-second clip of this vulnerable passenger getting whacked by the driver. What happened? It is apparent that the driver was physically (and highly likely, verbally) abusing his passenger. Judging from how violently he threw her head, it was definitely a very, very heated argument. The defenseless was also seen bending over to a vulnerable state. Poor thing. It seems as though the violence continued on for quite some time. As much as we do not know the context of the situation, I, for one, believe that men should never resort to violence, especially on a susceptible female. And of course, violence in itself does not resolve anything. Online Chatter Unfortunately, not every girl gets to be a passenger princess. Was this man trying to practice his WWE headbutting stunt on her or something? Ok but for real, no matter what, a man should never lay hands on a female. NEVER! Takeaway No matter how good you are at multi-tasking, you should not drive and argue simultaneously as driving requires maximum concentration. Keep the roads safe from your personal matters! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. A commercial van has been spotted entering the PIE (towards Changi) from Jalan Bahar and abruptly changing lanes from lane 2 to lane 1. In doing so, it caused a relatively serious accident. Watch the video for yourself below. The accident The van's sudden and abrupt lane change resulted in a motorcyclist toppling over after not having sufficient time to react. The van did not even bother stopping and continued to speed right up ahead, leaving the damage behind. The car behind the motorcyclist, a Honda Vezel was forced to jam his brakes in order to avoid crashing into the motorcyclist. It almost seems like the van driver wasn't even remotely remorseful about the damage that he caused considering he sped off without a second thought of the motorcyclist. Or maybe the driver did not realise it had caused the accident? But wait, there's more! According to road regulations, commercial vehicles are forbidden from driving on lane 1 of an expressway. This offence is considered as road hogging and is punishable with a maximum fine of $1000 as well as 3-months jail for first-time offenders. Not to mention, this van driver also had another offence = failing to signal when lane changing. This itself is punishable by a $70 fine for light vehicles as well as a $100 fine for heavy ones according to the Traffic Police. Netizen Comments Netizens have also gathered to criticize the van driver as hell, blaming him for endangering others and hoping to file a complaint against him as well as calling for harsher penalties. I sure hope the motorcyclist suffered no permanent injuries and is able to receive justice for this accident. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community.
