  1. I would like to compare the abovementioned models. 1) Pricing 2) FC 3) Handling 4) Size 5) Appearance 6) Maintenance Cost like spare parts. I like both the car design especially Opel Astra 1.6 Twinport. Was considering of Toyota Altis and my friend strongly reccomend on Ford Focus in terms of handling. The pricing is higher than Altis if I'm not wrong. But how much higher? Astra got all the cost rebate, free insurance, etc. So in the end not sure of the selling price. Too confused. Can anyone enlightened me on the pricing as well as commend on the cars. Thks alot.
  2. MCD's employees were first warned of layoff plans in early January 2023: https://www.businessinsider.com/mcdonalds-ceo-warns-staff-of-possible-layoffs-in-spring-2023 But in an announcement last week, MCD's corporate employees were told to work remotely from April 3-5 and to reschedule any in-person meetings at McDonald's global headquarters in Chicago in order to "communicate key decisions related to roles and staffing levels across the organization." Summary: 1 McDonald's offices will temporarily close as the company prepares for layoffs, per an internal memo. 2 The company is shifting its strategy to focus on digital, delivery, and restaurant unit growth. McDonald's employs over 150,000 corporate employees, including employees at its corporate-owned restaurants. https://sg.news.yahoo.com/read-full-memo-mcdonalds-outlines-133349184.html Time to move on to KFC? Or will KFC follow suit?
  3. This is a classic case of self pawned... canceling bonus for all employees, except for herself. "MillerKnoll says a video of CEO Andi Owen telling employees to stop "thinking about what you’re going to do if you don’t get a bonus" was taken "out of context." Don’t Live in ‘Pity City,’ Office Chair Magnate Tells Employees Who Want Money “Don't ask about: What are we going to do if we don’t get a bonus?” she asked. “Get the damn $26 million. Spend your time and your effort thinking about the $26 million we need and not thinking about what you’re going to do if you don’t get a bonus. Alright? Can I get some commitment for that?” Then, she whispered for emphasis: “I would appreciate that.” (The $26 million is an internal metric that the company was unwilling to discuss publicly.)" "For her work, Owen received bonuses of $1.29 million last year and $1.12 million in 2021. "
  4. Mediacorp is rolling out refreshed logos for its suite of digital, free-to-air and audio platforms and products from 1 February 2023. The new visual identity will consist of Mediacorp’s “M” prefix featured prominently in the individual logos, each rendered in a sleek, single or dual-colour scheme. The design aims to drive all audience interactions and communications back to the main Mediacorp brand, strengthening its collective presence and showcasing the extensive reach of the entire media network through a harmonised and unified look. According to the company, in keeping with the rich heritage and strong brand equity Mediacorp has built over the years, the core design of each individual product has been retained but updated using a bold approach for maximum impact in today’s digital-first environment. This has been achieved by streamlining the logos using a modern and mono- or dichromatic 2D effect, while maintaining the composition and colour palette of the products – signalling Mediacorp’s continual evolution in staying ahead of new trends and technologies, while staying true to the brand that audiences are familiar with. Together with the refreshed logos, Mediacorp will also be introducing the Mplifier, a new set of graphics to further amplify the association between the Mediacorp brand and its products. The Mplifier – a stylised upward-pointing arrow forming half of Mediacorp’s “M” prefix that is meant to convey the brand’s constant strive for progress – will be applied consistently across all platforms, communication channels and marketing materials as a unifying visual cue for Mediacorp’s products. Oliver Chong, head, marketing and communications, Mediacorp said, “The bright new design of Mediacorp’s refreshed logos is a visual representation of our purpose as the national media network in delivering new experiences and compelling content built around our audiences’ consumption preferences.” He added that the design is “fresh and familiar at the same time, achieving the best of both worlds – driving a consistent overall brand narrative, yet retaining the robust brand equity we have nurtured over the years”. “We hope the collective impact of the logos will reinforce Mediacorp’s role in engaging audiences across all touchpoints in their lives, and convey our constant efforts to connect deeply with our communities,” Chong said. To familiarise audiences with the fresh look, the logos will be soft launched on 16 January via on-air channel bugs, as well as via GIFs and videos across the respective social media platforms. These animations will depict the transition to the new logos, before the visuals are officially launched on 1 February. 5. Ford is calling the 2019 Focus their most “accomplished and technically-competent Focus ever”, with the car boasting a new human-centric design philosophy meant to unite exterior styling with class-leading aerodynamics and a more spacious and well-built interior. “We wanted our all-new Focus to be a product customers fall in love with, and stay in love with,” said Ford Europe design director, Amko Leenarts. “Inside and out, our new design philosophy is about creating memorable moments of interaction that build and maintain the relationship between human being and machine.” By extending the wheelbase a full 53 mm, designers managed to position the wheels higher up into the sheet metal, thus reducing the perception of overall length and mass. Add the short overhangs and rearward cabin position and you end up with a dynamic-looking hatchback, one that is said to deliver “class-leading aerodynamic efficiency”. As for styling, even though Ford went with a recognizable front fascia, the rest of the car looks significantly different than the outgoing model, regardless of version. The all-new Focus can be ordered as a Vignale, ST-Line, Active and Titanium, in either 5-door or Estate form. The Vignale was given elegant ornamentation such as the satin aluminum finishes for the roof rails, fascia and rocker inserts, as well as a signature grille mesh. The ST-Line on the other hand looks more aggressive with its large diffuser and functional roof spoiler – it also comes with signature lower wing elements. Customers will be able to order their new Focus in one of 13 exterior colors, including Orange Glow, Desert Island Blue and the Vignale-exclusive four-coat dark Mulberry. The all-new Focus features a wide range of advanced technologies, among them Level 2 automation and several systems meant to make driving the car a more comfortable and less demanding experience. For example, Ford Co-Pilot360 technologies enhance safety, driving and parking, while ACC with Stop & Go, Speed Sign Recognition and Lane-Centring will make long journeys less stressful. The ACC works at speeds of up to 200 km/h (125 mph). Then there’s the Adaptive Front Lighting System with Predictive curve light and Sign-based light. This tech pre-adjusts headlight patterns for maximum visibility before reaching a curve, intersection or roundabout. The new Focus is also the first Ford vehicle in Europe to feature a Head-up display (HUD). Other active safety features includes: Active Park Assist 2, Park-out Assist, Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, Evasive Steering Assist, Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert, Rear wide-view camera, Wrong Way Alert, Ford MyKey and Post-Collision Braking. Ford expects the all-new Focus to earn a 5-star safety rating during crash tests. They’re basing their expectations, in part, on the 40% increase in front crash load capability coming from the new C2 platform. Focus owners can choose between Ford EcoBoost petrol and EcoBlue diesel engines, said to meet the latest Euro 6 emissions standards. They can be mated either to six-speed manual transmissions or a new eight-speed automatic. Opt for petrol and you’ll find yourself having to choose between a 1.0-liter EcoBoost (107g/km CO2) or a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost (122 g/km CO2). While the former is offered with 85 PS (83 HP), 100 PS (98 HP) and 125 PS (123 HP), the latter is more punchy at either 150 PS (148 HP) or 182 PS (179 HP). The diesel options are as follows: new 1.5-liter EcoBlue (91 g/km CO2) with either 95 PS (93 HP) or 120 PS (118 HP) – both offering 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque, and a 2.0-liter EcoBlue (112 g/km CO2) good for 150 PS (148 HP) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque. Ultimately, it’s only the 125 PS 1.0-liter EcoBoost, 150 PS 1.5-liter EcoBoost, 120 PS 1.5-liter EcoBlue and 150 PS 2.0-liter EcoBlue units that can be mated to Ford’s new 8-speed automatic. Everything else will only work with a 6-speed manual. T.B.C.
  6. Should Singapore Bring in Ford Focus ST Wagon? I have watched some of the media launches ystd from Taiwan media and was shocked that the Focus is a well-positioned and well-liken car in Taiwan! I wish that Singapore will have such responses towards car like this too! Maybe our TP can consider too?
  7. Ford has taken the wraps off the new Ford Focus ST and it has been scheduled to debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Headline news includes the ditching of the old 2.0-litre turbocharged four cylinder for a larger, more powerful 2.3-litre one. Making 276bhp and 420Nm of torque from 3,000 rpm to 4,000 rpm, it will allow the hot hatch to sprint to 100km/h from a standstill in under six seconds. Lessons learnt from the Ford GT supercar and F-150 Raptor pickup will also enable the Focus ST to have an engine that has “immediate power delivery” in Sport and Track Drive Modes. According to Ford, the engine features anti-lag technology that keeps the throttle open when the driver lifts his foot off the accelerator pedal, maintaining compressor wheel speed and enabling boost pressure to build faster on demand. Mated to a short-shift six-speed manual gearbox, the car also has a switchable rev-match function that the driver can switch off if he wants to. Owners who prefer to let the car do the gear shifting themselves can opt for the seven-speed automatic transmission. With its Adaptive Shift Scheduling feature, the gearbox evaluates individual driving styles to optimise gearshift timings. Elsewhere, it will be the first time a Focus ST will be equipped with an electronic limited-slip differential to improve handling and traction. Compared to the standard Focus, the damping stiffness increased by 20% at the front and 13% at the rear, while the ride height is reduced by 10mm. The steering rack is also 15% faster than the standard Focus, requiring just two turns lock-to-lock. To rein in the extra speed the new car has, Ford has given it larger disc brakes with dual-piston calipers at the front. It works with the Electric Brake Booster technology that will allow the system to build up brake pressure faster than a hydraulic system. Like its predecessor, the new car will be available both as a five door hatch and five door wagon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqGiTaUWrto
  8. Back in April, when the new generation Ford Focus was introduced for global markets, Ford announced that the redesigned hatchback would only make it to the United States as the Focus Active crossover version. Now, those plans appear to have been scrapped thanks to 25 percent import tariffs on Chinese-built goods. Originally, Focus Active sales would have begun in the second half of next year. For Ford, the vehicle would have been largely a niche seller, with less than 50,000 sales projected annually. But as the Focus would have been imported from China, the tariffs would have eaten into Ford's profits too much – so the automaker refocused, for the lack of a better term. As Automotive News quotes Ford's North American president, Kumar Galhotra: "Our viewpoint is that, given the tariffs, our costs would be substantially higher. Our resources could be better deployed at this stage." And even if the tariffs were dropped, the decision will not be changed; Ford also didn't seek for a tariff exemption for the Focus Active, citing the vehicle's production timing. The Indian-built Ecosport compact crossover and the Spanish-built Transit Connect continue to be sold as previously. The change of plans makes the Mustang the only passenger car Ford will sell in the United States: by 2020, 90 percent of new Ford vehicles sold in the United States are to be trucks, SUVs and commercial vehicles. Behind the portfolio restructuring is an attempt to improve profitability, and consumer demand in the U.S. is said to have shifted away from sedans.

Hi All Focus fan out there, Dose anyone know the Focus here are made in which country?
  10. A few weeks ago, Ford America announced that it is phrasing out almost all of its cars, and is focusing instead on its trucks and SUV. Fast forward to the present, Automotive News has reported that Ford has ceased production of the Focus and C-Max at its factory in Michigan last Friday. The last Focus variant to leave the line was a sedan while a C-Max hybrid was the last to roll off the assembly line. In line with its belief that normal sedans and hatchbacks aren't well-received in United States, the surviving Focus variant that will be on sale will be a crossover model, the Focus Active. The car will be imported from China. Joining the Focus Active will be the Mustang that will be the only conventional passenger car that Ford will sell in the United States. The rest will all be vans, crossovers, SUVs, and pickup trucks.
  11. It has been a while since the Ford Focus got its global launch. Enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for the go-faster version of the hatch to surface. Interestly, several pictures of the hot hatch surfaced on a private forum. Looking less aggressive and sleeker than its predecessor, the 2019 Focus ST still features a prominent honeycomb mesh grill at the front. Other than a new front and rear bumper, the car also gets new side skirts and gloss black door handles. Inferring from the photos that we saw from Carscoops, one can see an uprated high-performance braking system with red calipers and new wheels. Moving inside, one of the more obvious changes compared to the normal hatch is the hugging Recaro sport seats with ST badge and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with white contrast stitching. Powertrain wise, nothing has been confirmed but the car is likely to use a 2.3-litre EcoBoost four cylinder that should output more than 247bhp in the last ST. There is also no word on when the car will be launched in 2019.
  12. anyone driving a ford focus here? would appreciate if you can share about the maintenance/servicing cost of ford focus by regent motors, eg, oil change, spark plug charge, timing belt, wheel bearings etc. the more detailed the better. and also major parts cost, eg, brake rotor/pad, transmission, suspension, ECU. thanks in advance. thinking to get a ford focus wagon.
  13. Hi folks, Wondering anyone driving this car now? Wana know how's the reliability and how's the maintenance. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=440625&DL=1213
  14. Hi all, Anyone know if changing battery outside of RM will void warranty? Any cons if change outside and which brand is good? Thanks a lot
  15. The latest generation Ford Focus has been snapped without a hint of camouflage while it was in a photo shoot in Cascais, Portugal. Set to be launched in April, a reader of Vezss managed to catch the car exposed and we though the car looks pretty sleek from the side. Spotting a large set of alloy wheels and an aggressive spoiler, the car is likely to be an ST Line model. Production of the new Focus is said to commence in the second half of 2019.
  16. Launched in U.K., the Ford Focus RS Heritage Edition and is limited to 50 units. ] As part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Escort, the special edition hot hatch also homage to the introduction of the RS brand in Britain. Sporting a special orange colour paint job, it comes with grey brake calipers, forged alloy wheels, and black side mirror and rear spoiler on the outside. Elsewhere, a front mechanical Quaife limited-slip differential and a Mountune ECU remap will make the keen driver a smile wider and longer. The remap which will not void factory warranty, will allow the engine to make 370bhp, up from the stock 345bhp. Torque is now rated at 510Nm from the 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder. The limited edition hatch serves as a swan song to the Focus RS, which will see its production come to an end on 6th of April.
  17. Norwegian taxi driver Evald Jastad goes around in his Ford Focus RS ferrying locals and tourists, making them happy with his turbocharged hot hatch. Based in Odda, he has done 127,000km so far in his blue Focus RS in the past 18 months. Nicknamed 'Blue Lightning', Jastad has also equipped his hot hatch with a set of rally-style white wheels and mudguards. Watch the video below and see what he has to say about his choice of car as a taxi. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=288&v=-ctakSX8esI
  18. Source: Saleen In another move signaling the diversity and expansion of Saleen, Inc., the company announced production of the high-performance Focus model for 2004, N2O Focus. According to Steve Saleen,
  19. Some Ford Focus RS owners have reported that their cars are consuming coolant fluid. When doing a cold start, the affected vehicles have been seen producing white exhaust smoke as they burn through coolant. According to these owners, the problem exists due to a leaky head gasket that’s unable to effectively seal the engine block to the head. Ford is said to be working on a fix for these early versions of the 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder as it admits its engine needs to be sorted out. It went on to say that the issue only affects certain 2016 and 2017 models. As reported by Autocar, a spokesman for Ford did not say when the firm will issue a recall and owners whose vehicles show these symptoms should visit their dealer for an inspection and repair under warranty.

  21. Detroit - Nearly 7,000 Fiesta and Focus owners are suing Ford Motor Co. over defective PowerShift transmissions in some small cars, a problem that has plagued the automaker for years. The suit claims that 2012-16 Focus and 2011-16 Fiesta sedans come with faulty dual-clutch transmissions prone to "shuddering, slipping, bucking, jerking, hesitation while changing gears, premature internal wear, delays in downshifting and, in some cases, sudden or delayed acceleration." Stern Law PLLC filed the mass action lawsuit on April 20 with the Wayne County Circuit Court on behalf of the affected owners. "Ford must be held accountable for design and manufacturing defects of the PowerShift transmission that has compromised the safety of the vehicles and cost owners significant loss in vehicle value, reliable transportation and time," Ken Stern, founder and principal of Stern Law PLLC, said in a statement. Plaintiffs named in the lawsuit are not seeking one large, single payment for damages, according to a spokeswoman for Stern Law. Each client's award would be customized based on the client's damages, she said. A Ford spokesperson said the company can't comment on pending litigation but said "Ford is committed to providing our customers with top-quality vehicles." On Jan. 1, 2011, Ford issued a technical service bulletin to dealers that noted the Fiesta's PowerShift transmission could suffer "a loss of power, hesitation, surge, or lack of throttle response while driving." The lawsuit says Ford has issued more than 20 technical service bulletins relating to the affected models, but has been unable to find a "consistently reliable repair." In 2014, the automaker extended the powertrain warranty from five years/60,000 miles to seven years/100,000 miles to help cover the problems. This is not the first lawsuit related to the transmissions. In 2012, the Los Angeles-based law firm Capstone Partners APC filed the first of three lawsuits in a U.S. District Court on behalf of owners who claimed their vehicles suffered repeated breakdowns. Last month, the parties settled, according to Capstone Partners APC's website.
  22. Ford has released details about its new Option Pack for its Focus RS, similar to the upgrades American owners receive for the Limited Edition variant in their home country. While hot hatch enthusiasts might be slightly disappointed to find no additional boost in power in this Option Pack, the addition of a Quaife mechanical limited-slip differential for the front axle will definitely cheer them up. According to Leo Roeks, Ford Performance’s Europe Director, "The additional mechanical grip offered by the Quaife LSD will make it even easier to carry speed through a corner on the track, and maximise acceleration on the way out. The Focus RS Option Pack takes our ‘fun to drive’ philosophy to a new level for an everyday road car." Other upgrades thrown into the Pack include the Nitrous Blue paintwork that is paired with a matte black roof, mirror caps and rear spoiler, a set of gloss-black 19-inch forged alloys. Inside, matching front Recaro-shell seats dressed in a two-tone Nitrous Blue/Black upholstery are also included.
  23. Like as if the RS wasn't awesome enough, Ford Performance have confirmed they're working on a new calibration for the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder that should add some factory-certified oomph to the hot hatch. The new Ford Focus RS is no slouch. The current car's 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder sends out 350 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. Ford claims a 0-60 mph time of fewer than five seconds. While these are already impressive numbers for a vehicle of the Focus RS's size and class, there are always those wanting a little more. While Ford won't reveal any details on the new calibration, such as power, price, or availability, but we can look to the recently revealed upgrade to the Ford Mustang EcoBoost for reference. There, $699 nets you a 50-state legal 25 hp and 70 lb-ft of torque, all backed by a Ford warranty. It's hard to say if the gains in the Focus RS will be as impressive, since the 2.3 EcoBoost already makes more power and torque in the Focus than the Mustang. This tune could be a version of the warranty-backed Mountune kit that's currently available in the UK. It's confirmed for the US, but there has been a bit of a delay while they work out the tune for Americans. In the UK, a Mountune upgrade adds 25 peak horsepower and about 30 lb-ft of peak torque. Expect to hear more details from Ford Performance in the coming months.
  24. Hi People, I went for the Focus group discussion at LTA yesterday and below are my general comments. 1) We met up with the directors and assistant directors of LTA. The directors are ok but the assistant directors looked really young... is assistant director at LTA an entry level job? Frankly, initial impression is not too good, but this is just my personal opinon. 2) We touched on the dealer COE bidding issue. One of the directors said that currently, consumer has a choice of bidding for themselves and going through the dealer so it is ok. When we mentioned that the car price is higher if we bid COE ourselves, he was surprised. He thought the car price will be lower if we bid ourselves since the dealers does not have to provide the COE bidding service for us. I was shocked how DISCONNECTED the director of LTA is with the situation on the ground. Or am I wrong since it was sometime since I bought my car. Is it still true that car price from the dealer will be significantly higher one bidded for the COE oneself? 3) On the other hand, I applaud the sincerity of the LTA in orgainising this and having their directors talking to the public. I have went to the talk by MND on housing issue and it is a HUGE waste of time. The MND staff there are basically MUTES. They have no OPINONS and just say yes, we will consider it. At MND, it is just public talking to public and they invited every tom dick and harry who signed up. So you ended up listening to really stupid things. LTA's discussion is different as they selected participants based on the survey feedback so you get mostly people who have a pretty good grasp on the situation. The LTA staff are participating actively in the discussion. Although some of the replies are shocking, overall they are MUCH MUCH better than the mutes from MND. Some guy had a pretty good suggestion for COE revamp. Instead of cat A and cat B to differentiate luxury and mas market cars, we should only have one Cat. The COE price will be a multiple of the car "value" set by LTA using a transparent formula (average MSRP of the car in other markets). People bid by points. Assuming a base points of 100. Example, if the winning bid for COE this month is 120 points, a ferarri buyer needs to pay like $500k (LTA determined car value) *120/100=$600k, a Nissan Sunny buyer needs to pay $40k*120/100=$48k This I thought is really good. If LTA thinks that there should be some form of social equity (that is why there is cat A, B in the first place) setting a HARD limit like 1600CC is very hard to do. How do you set the two cats? Why is 1601 CC in catb while 1599 CC is cat A? I think the above suggestion can make luxury car buyers pay more and yet avoid this Categorizing issue. what do you guys think?
  25. Anyone checked out the new Ford Focus ST 2012 at the showroom? Anyone in this forum already bought the car? http://www.regentmotors.com.sg/vehicles/focus-st/
