      4th Gen - 2020 Toyota Harrier

The current Toyota Harrier may still be fairly new to the Malaysian market (unless you count the myriad of grey imports that existed before UMW Toyota Motor’s offering), but the truth is third-generation SUV has been around since 2013 and in need of a replacement. Well, it looks like the forth-gen model is coming soon, and a promotional video has just surfaced on social media. It shows a car that draws much of its profile a fair bit of inspiration from the outgoing model, but with a couple of touches of its own. The characteristic blanked-off upper grille and slim headlights remain, but the latter now sport new LED daytime running lights with dual branches, much like the latest Avalon sedan. The lower grille is also much larger, reaching towards the upper grille and only separated by a full-width chrome strip. Along the side, the shoulder line sweeps upwards between the strong front and rear haunches, while the D-pillars have been made slightly narrower. But it’s the rear that’s the biggest departure – the full-width tail lights have been reduced to slits which, together with what appears to be a reverse-rake tail, gives the car more than a hint of the Jaguar F-Pace0 about it. According to Japanese automotive portal Best Car, the new Harrier, set to make its debut on June 17, will ride on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) that underpins most of Toyota’s latest models – specifically the K variant (GA-K) that the Camry, RAV4 and aforementioned Avalon are also based on. It will reportedly be significantly larger than before, in part to accommodate an optional third row of seats. New features include an electrochromic sunroof that can be dimmed (eliminating the need for blinds) as well as a dash cam integrated in the rear-view mirror. As for powertrains, expect the Harrier to come with an M20A 2.0 litre direct-injected Dynamic Force engine that makes 172 PS and 203 Nm of torque in the RAV4. There will also likely be a hybrid model that pairs a 2.5 litre version of that engine to a pair of electric motors, delivering a total of 211 PS in the Camry Hybrid. The 8AR-FTS 2.0 litre turbo mill, introduced in the facelifted third-get model (which we get), will apparently be dropped. source: https://paultan.org/2020/04/07/2021-toyota-harrier-fourth-generation-model-leaked/

      Harrier 2017

i went to test drive on sat, sharing my views below Likes - exterior design - size of car, notable presence on the road - sound proofing - boot size is huge - space for rear seat passengers is huge - front sequential turn signals looks cool; would really loveit if they used sequential for back and side signals as well - sunroof Dislikes - touchscreen on dashboard is pathetically small. those in japan seem much bigger ( )- from the boot, there is no lever/button for making the rear seats lie flat - no safety options: blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic monitoring, tyre deflation monitoring - they removed the panoramic view monitor, which i think is available in the japanese brochures - lag before turbo engine kicks in Some excellent reviews here from Richard too: http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2705478-harrier-2017/page-7?do=findComment&comment=6159941

    4. Hi guys, I have been facing transmission problem with my 2008 Toyota Harrier 2.4A Whenever I shift the auto gear to "D", the car will take 1 to 3 mins to engage into the gear. During the wait, the car is as though it is in "Neutral" gear. I do not face any problem with the "R" gear. The "D" shift responds much better after a 20mins drive (when i reach my destination). This is very annoying as sometimes I have to wait about 3 minutes before moving off from carpark. It also poses a danger when i'm doing a 3 point turn and the car stucks in the middle of the road until the "D" gear decides to engage after 2 to 3 mins. I have checked the auto gear fluid and it is at the optimum level. Gear fluid colour is also in a clear red colour. Anyone here knows what is wrong with the auto gear? Where can I bring it for a repair and how much would it approx. cost?

    7. Dear all, I am thinking of Harrier 2014 CVT Gearbox change to harrier Turbo gearbox. I know it sounds ridiculous but with all due respect will it make any difference? If so just let's discuss here.
    8. Dear all, sorry for putting a conti vs jap thread, I tested the 3008 and find it nice, 1) but it feels less solid than harrier 2) cockpit is surprisingly cool looking. 3) acceleration is okay and punchy. 4) fuel consumption seems better than the harrier. 5) shapes like a Range Rover, and is very pleasant to the eyes. Just curious, how does the 2014 fare against this 3008 SUV? Cause got second hand selling for 105k, VS 125999 for the new active version . I wish to do part time grab or Uber for my car too, in terms of maintaince, which will be easier for my pocket ? Regards Jason
    9. If you love the colour blue and is in the market for a new SUV, you might want to check out Toyota's latest special edition for its Harrier. Interestingly named the Harrier Progress “Style Blueish” and the Harrier Progress “Metal and Leather Package - Style Blueish", both editions are on sale now in Japan and have quite a bit of blue accents inside the car. As you can see from the photo, the wood trim on the dashboard, gear lever area, doors and the leather of the seats are now blue in colour, as what the name of the special edition suggests. Other than that, blue stitching can be found everywhere in the car with blue ambient lighting topping it all off. Moving outside, the special edition harrier also gets new 18-inch wheels, smoked headlights and smoked chrome trims at the front and side of the car. Buyers will get to choose from two colours, Black Mica and Sparkling Black Pearl Crystal Shine. The Toyota Harrier Progress “Style Blueish” can be had with either a 149bhp 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated engine that is paired to a Super CVT-i transmission or a 228bhp 2.0-liter turbo-four linked to a six-speed Super ECT gearbox or a 150bhp 2.5-litre hybrid that is paired to a CVT gearbox.
    10. I'm wondering if there is a way to change the language display for a parallel import Toyota harrier from Japanese to English?

Tata to launch new Harrier SUV

Tata's upcoming SUV will be called the Harrier. Totally unrelated to Toyota's Harrier, Tata's Harrier has been previewed earlier in the year by the H5X concept. It will be using the same LR-MS/D8 platform that underpins the Land Rover Discovery Sport and the Jaguar E-Pace. The car is believed to be built for the Middle East, Africa and India markets and will be powered by a a 2.0-litre turbodiesel that is likely to come from Jaguar Land Rover's Ingenium family. It will come in two states of tune with the base variant likely to have around 150bhp and the SUV will be offered with either front or all-wheel drive. The Harrier is one of the first few cars to benefit from Impact Design 2.0, Tata's newest design language that will used across the Indian automaker’s lineup in the coming years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=11&v=s71ppzZxhlg

      Harrier / IS300h

I’m in the midst of comparing a couple of cars for my next drive . Currently I’m looking at 2014 Harrier VS 2014 IS300h Understand that one is SUV another is sedan which is not my main issue , the thing that I’m thinking about is the reliability of each drive down the road if possible I would want to extend the COE when time come . Which is a better choice ?
    14. Hi guys, I'm a newbie to cars and am looking for some help from all you professionals in this forum. I apologize in advance if I ask stupid questions. Recently me and my dad decided to purchase the harrier as a family car and we would be interested to change a set of rims. My current set is 17 inch, 225/65/R17. I have a couple of questions I hope you guys could help me answer. What is the maximum rim size I can upsize to? What is the recommended size I upsize to? I checked the calculator for the tire size if I actually upsize to 19 inch, is the calculator reliable? What are good rim colors to fit the pearl white harrier? What brands do you guys recommend? From what I read, ppl recommend bbs, enkei, rays, vossen etc. they also said some brands like ssw are not reliable because of the way they are made? May I know how much would my rims and tires be worth if I trade them in immediately when I get the car? Lastly, may I know where is good to check out rims? I really want to see the rays(volks) but I would love to see a wide variety at awesome prices. Thank you very much for taking the time to reply and sorry for asking so many questions.
    15. Hi all, I am interested to buy a Toyota Harrier, any owner out there to give valuable comments? And any good PI to recommend? Thanks
    16. The well-received Toyota Harrier is about to get a refresh and images of the facelifted car has been leaked online, thanks to Japanese website Car Drive. Set to be launched in the coming months on our sunny island, the new car has an more aggressive face that brings in line with the rest of its Toyota stable mates. Eagle-eyed viewers might also notice the new headlight design. At the rear, the car receives similar light refreshing via its tail light. The car also gets a new wheel design and new paint colours are also expected. More interestingly, the Harrier is rumored to get a new turbocharged engine from the Lexus NX. Producing an estimated 230bhp and 350Nm of torque, the 2.0-litre petrol four will join the existing 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated Valvematic four-cylinder.

    19. Wanted to buy a new Harrier. But hesitate now as i heard that it has inherent gearbox issues. It results in jerky movement when trying to moving off and gear has tendency to slip. anyone here knows about the this? or if any harrier owners here experienced that issue?
    20. Hi guys, as topic, also wanted to find out does it take roughly 1 month for me to get the new car if there are stock? As my lease is coming to an end in 1 month plus time so wanted to time it to be as little downtime as possible. Currently looking at the elegance version and does anyone know if it can be upgraded to G's kit? Thanks in advance guys!
    21. Which one is a good buy ? Both about the same price and Harrier higher OMV and different about few thousands in OMV, X-trail offer free 2 years servicing and 5 years warranty and PI consider no warranty . AD VS PI ! 2WD VS 4WD !
    22. I am trying to clean this car and found that underneath the rear seat, there are a lot of rubbish dropped and stuck there. However, I can't seem to adjust the rear seat to a position which I can reach those rubbish. For the rear seat, is it just flipping it forward and flat? Or can I do more? I know some cars can (but I don't really know how to describe it) Can someone point me to the tutorial/video to it? Or guide me along? Thanks!
    23. My dad recently got his Toyota Harrier (Elegance) and he wants to change the steering wheel to a wood grain version similar to the one found in the Premium model. Does anyone here have any lobangs on where to get something like this? http://static.pakwheels.com/2013/10/2014-Toyota-Harrier-steering-wheel.jpg PS : I can't attach pictures yet, so posting this link is the best I can do lol.
