  1. Suzuki has revealed its all new Ignis supermini which it previewed using its iM-4 concept car not too long ago, ahead of the Tokyo Motor Show 2015. Looking largely similar to the concept, the production Ignis looks pretty bold to us which is good since Suzuki has been accused of being bland at times in the past. Things are just as interesting inside with an all new interior not seen elsewhere. We like the new touchscreen infortainment system which will boost the interior ambiance of the Ignis. It will likely be marketed as a city car (dimensions of the car are unknown at this moment). Powertrain options were not specified also but here's us hoping that Suzuki will plonk in its new 1.0-litre BOOSTERJET turbo engine (110bhp and 170Nm of torque) in this little hatch. If they do, the new Ignis could be a hoot to drive and good successor to the previous much-loved Ignis Sport!
  2. Continuing from my previous post, it was already Day 2 of my 'epic' road trip with the Ignis Sport. Day 1 in Penang past way too fast and the thought of that immediately jolted me out of bed. There was really no time to waste! Quick wash up later, I was pleasantly surprised to find a little buffet spread waiting for me. Nothing fancy but you could taste everything was very home made. Checked out after that. (Yup, that was the only sign I was at the right hotel) And I went around for a little drive to see where I could take some shots of the Ignis. While the harbour was a nice place for some shots, I found myself more amused by the sight of these blocks of flats. Damn. I must be homesick already. Like most Singaporeans, I had to do some shopping. Unfortunately, I was either too early (1:00pm) or I was at the wrong mall (Pranglin mall), most shops were closed and there was nothing much to buy. Shopping failed, so I thought I should entertain my tummy then. Drove to Perak Lane to try the Kim Eng Lor Mee. Honestly, another overrated dish like the prawn mee that I tried the previous day but the wanton mee which I randomly bought turned out better. Checked in at Holiday Inn at Batu Ferringhi. Clean but old room. Beach looked inviting enough but I had better plans.... Listed as one of the best roads in the whole of Malaysia, Jalan Teluk Bahang is a stretch of tight B-roads which climbs and then descends on the other side. But before that happens, I had to drive along the beach which was pretty. And a big dam, which was also one lovely great place for shooting. Then the fun started. This was already halfway and I had trouble telling myself to stop. As you can see, the roads are pretty tight and corners come to you in quick succession. Half the time, the corners are not sighted so I did not dare to commit. But on those times when I could, the Ignis was the perfect partner to dance with on these roads. I especially love the way the car allows you to adjust your lines mid corner with the throttle. On the way down, it started drizzling and I had to slow down. But I still had fun as the wet ground meant mini handbrake drifts could be pulled off easier with the Ignis now. Needless to say, my passenger was not happy at all. Before we reached Penang hill, we stopped for Air Itam's Asam Laksa. Does not look exactly appealing here but it is probably the best dish I tried for the whole trip. Then it was time to go up the hill. Going up by tram. Luckily for me, the hill was chiller than normal since it just stopped raining. Coffee, nice view, chilly weather. Perfect. Sat for an hour there to witness the night scenery. You can see both bridges that lead you back to mainland here. Feeling hungry, it was time to head back the long way to our hotel. This was shot at the start of the climb and I was feeling excited at being able to live my dream of being an Initial D driver. B-roads again. However, this time round, it was a bit more treacherous as it got pretty dark at times. Some parts of the roads are pretty eerie admittedly. I also got pretty stressed up knowing that if I do go over the edge, it would be quite some way down. Needless to say, I drove slowly and totally gave up my hopes of re-enacting any moves learnt from Initial D. After some 45 minutes of driving, we emerged into civilisation again. Did some walking at their night market which was no different from those in other countries before calling it a day.
  3. For those of you who have been reading my posts, you would have probably guessed that I am pretty fond of Suzuki's little Ignis Sport. But alas, like what others say, all good things must come to an end. With the Ignis Sport's time almost up (blame it on the silly COE system here), I told myself I had to do an epic drive in it before it goes. Epic? Unfortunately, we live in Singapore so there aren't going to be any Stelvio Pass or scenic ocean roads to drive on. So I guess Penang will have to do. Having decided on it being a 3 days 2 nights trip, I knew time was not going to be on my side. So on one fine Friday morning, I set the meters to zero, filled the tank up and started driving. The GPS said I would reach Penang around 4:00pm but I felt it was a little too optimistic. Soon, I was in Kuala Lumpur and headed towards Ipoh. Still felt pretty fresh even though the Ignis was not the best car to cross countries in. Then the haze suddenly appeared as I was at the Petaling Jaya exit. It got pretty bad and I had to cut our speed. By then it was already 2:00pm and we had to stop for lunch and fuel. Ipoh passed quickly... A couple more hours later, Penang was within reach. Note the Vios up ahead that was also taking this long drive up! Signboard showed two bridges. I planned to go to the newer one (leading to Batu Maung) but missed the exit to the bridge! Sneaked a quick shot on the older bridge. It took me another hour to locate my hotel (Spice Residence) as it was not easy to spot. But once we stepped inside, all was forgiven. This was one charming and cosy place! The room had a nice, distinctive decor too. Nightfall came and we had dinner at Lebuh Kimberly. Char Kway Teow was good but the prawn mee was pretty average. After the simple dinner, some coffee was required to wash down the oily stuff. Chanced upon and decided on Sugar Honey as it looked like a nice place to chill out. Happy to report that coffee is cheaper here as compared to Singapore. Before the day ended, we hopped over to another cafe for some desserts. The cake is pretty good here at China House.
  4. Day 3 of the trip. Woke up around 9:00am to great weather. (You can check out Part 1 and Part 2 for previous entries on this trip) Before setting off, I took one last stroll around the hotel's vicinity and the beach. One thing I learnt from this trip was time was way too tight. Even though I had a nice pool and a beach at my disposal, I never found time to go for a dip. Upon reaching the car after checking out, I was flabbergasted to find some dog poo on my windscreen. Great start to the morning I guess... Decided to go pass the dam and back on Jalan Teluk Bahang for one last blast of the B-roads as I wanted to try out the newly built second bridge that starts from Batu Maung which will then lead us back to the main land. Saw some gravel and did some unnecessary stuff while no one was looking... Doesn't the road look inviting? Note the drop on the right side of the road! More scenic views while descending from the hills.. Alas, bad luck struck again. Seems like the bridge was closed for some last minute maintenance upon arrival. Back to using the old bridge then. From then on, it was the long drive home. It rained at times, making the driving a bit dreary as visibility dropped and so did the speed. At least the occasional supercar and a good lunch brightened things up. Overall, the trip was a success and I would recommend everyone to try going up at least once. However there are a couple of things I would like to highlight to all readers. Firstly, it is a pretty long drive. Eight hours to be exact for a one way trip. Having another driver or stopping over at Kuala Lumpur would be a better idea. Secondly, a 3D2N stay at Penang is too short! I missed out on quite a few other attractions like museums and temples that were said to be worth visiting. Lastly, do a full check up on your car first before you do a trip. Unfortunately, I forgot and halfway through, I was out of gas for the air-con. Needless to say, it got pretty warm at times.

  7. Suzuki Ignis How come this car is not so popular in sgp??? With a value-led pricing policy, excellent reliability record and a range of well packaged vehicles, it's a wonder Suzuki doesn't sell more cars in the UK. Recent models, such as the Liana, have taken the Japanese firm to new levels of dynamic ability and interior quality, and while it's still nowhere near the top of its class, the Ford Focus rival does a pretty good job of providing family transport for not much money. Similar things could be said of the original Ignis. Built to take on the Toyota Yaris and Ford Ka, it offered a surprising amount of space for less cash, and was a pleasant enough vehicle to drive, with handling and performance leagues ahead of other budget rivals. Now there's an all-new Ignis, driven here for the first time in the UK - and it adds more to the mix. Available as a five-door with a new 1.3-litre engine featuring variable valve timing, the car can hold its head up against rivals such as the Ford Fusion and Vauxhall Meriva - especially when you look at the cost.
  8. Saw a Swift with a Ignis front and a hungary made Ignis backside. But its called Swift FL or GL 1.3. Anyone come across such hybrids? Any big difference between this Swift and the current Ignis?
  9. "Hi to ignis lovers, I believe most ignis drivers should have the same experience as me, driving this car is fun but the only setback was how come the gear shifting is like driving lorry. I have check around with other models of same make and their encounters are fine, quiet gear shifting experience. I have once raise this question to CM service advisor and answer was is like tat noisy can't do much the gear box is supported by a few wire so more cloggy.?? ** When I first test drive the car, it seems to be more smooth in transmission. Any brothers/sisters out there encounters the same or worse situation and happens to know a solution to solve it." http://www.suzukiclubsingapore.com/forum/v...opic.php?t=1190 Haha... I alway told my fren that i driving a pick up. Anyone know anyway to reduce the noise?
  10. Hi to all, I'm interested in buying the Suzuki Ignis 1.3 AT car as I loved the look of it on the road. But I know nothing about the performance of the car as compare for instance with the famous Hyundai Matrix. Fuel consumption of the Suzuki Ignis also must be in consideration. Please help me in all these details. Thanks & warmest regards to all.
