  3. The 1,000-hp 1969 Mustang Mach 1 "Hitman" with John Wick paint job source: https://newatlas.com/automotive/1-000-hp-mustang-mach-1-hitman/ In Oklahoma there's a company called Classic Recreations that restores or reproduces classic muscle cars but with an injection of modern tech. The company's latest effort is called the "Hitman" and it's a glorious 1969 Mustang Mach 1 restomod with a John Wick-inspired paint job. The car's bodywork is an actual Mustang Mach 1 restored to factory-new condition by Classic Recreations. A Ford 32-valve 5.0-liter Coyote V8 32 valve crate engine with a BOSS 302 intake, together producing 1,000 horsepower (746 kW), is then added. Also in the package is a six-speed manual transmission from Tremec, a 9-inch 3.50 ratio rear end with Posi-Traction, and tubular subframe connectors. Engine management systems put power to the ground and a custom 2.5-inch Mandrel stainless steel manifold and exhaust system and Magnaflow mufflers let the growl commence. A custom 18-gallon fuel cell from Rick's Tanks provides the gas. The Hitman Mach 1 has a custom suspension with coilovers in front and Total Control rear coilovers at the back. Front and rear oversized sway bars keep the body and frame under control and a powered rack and pinion steering system adds driver control. Lightweight 18-inch American Racing Wheels are clad with Michelin Pilot Sport 2s in 225/40 up front and 315/30 at the rear, while six-piston Wilwood calipers with slotted and cross-drilled rotors are found behind all four wheels. Brake bias is controlled through an adjustable rear proportioning valve. An aluminum crossflow radiator from BeCool cools the engine and an "Old Air" air conditioning system does the same for the cabin, while a custom-designed JVC head unit and speaker layout with a Kicker amp provides the audio accompaniment. Inside there's also a woodgrain steering wheel, five-point seat harnesses, 200-mph gauges, TMI Mustang interior panels, and a cosmetic rollbar to keep things authentic. The Mustang Mach 1 Hitman is painted in two-tone "Hitman" gray and black with a factory style, period-correct chin spoiler and rear decklid spoiler. Mach 1 badges also feature. The Mach 1 Hitman shown here was custom-built to owner specifications and is the first Mach 1 to be built by Classic Restorations under official license from Ford. The company can customize and build to order another, if you have the (unspecified amount of) cash required.
  4. The DeLorean Motor Company did not last long but when it died, every filmmaker wanted to document the story of John DeLorean and his controversies. Promising to be different from your usual automotive flick, Framing John DeLorean talks about the life and times of John DeLorean as he rose through the ranks of General Motors before founding his own company, the DeLorean Motor Company. Most of you readers would probably know about its iconic coupe which was featured in the Back to the Future franchise. However, things went downhill from then on as the company ran into production delays and financial issues. DeLorean then found himself in trouble as he got arrested for drug trafficking. While he was acquitted after some time, the scandal had a devastating impact on him with the bankruptcy of his company not helping. For those interested watching the documentary film, Framing John DeLorean will be released in early June

SINGAPORE - Debris containing a potentially toxic mineral was recently found on St John's Island, leading the authorities to seal off more than half of the island as a safety precaution. Traces of asbestos had been detected on April 16 in construction debris such as roof tiles around the island's campsite, lagoon and holiday bungalow area, the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) announced at a media briefing on Monday. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/asbestos-found-on-st-johns-island-more-than-half-of-the-island-sealed
  6. WWE superstar and actor John Cena has been sued by Ford after he sold his $500,000 new GT supercar before his contract allowed it to. According to Carscoops, his contract stated that he was supposed to own the car for two years, but he ended up selling it shortly after taking delivery, making a huge profit in the process. Cena has been charged with with Breach of Contract, Fraud, Silent Fraud, Innocent Misrepresentation, and Unjust Enrichment by Ford. In the lawsuit, a part of it stated that "Mr. Cena has unfairly made a large profit from the unauthorised resale flip of the vehicle, and Ford has suffered additional damages and losses, including, but not limited to, loss of brand value, ambassador activity, and goodwill due to the improper sale." That said, Ford is willing to forgive the professional actor and wrestler if he gives up his profits from selling the supercar to Ford. When probed, Cena admitted to selling the car and explained that it was sold as he needed the money to pay off some bills.
  7. MINI fans who want the best Cooper S variant will want the John Cooper Works (JCW) GP. The good news is that the car is already in the works but it won't be ready anytime soon. Historically, it comes as an end-of-the-line model, which means buyers of the JCW GP will have a couple of years more to wait. Both generations of the previous JCW GP feature stripped-out cockpits with no back seats as well as upgraded engines, brakes, suspension and other parts to make them the hardest-core iterations of their base models. In an interview with Autocar, MINI's chief, Peter Schwarzenbauer was quoted saying, “The John Cooper Works GP is an important part of the Mini brand. It has worked well for us in the past and I don’t see why it wouldn’t again in the future.” For those who can't wait, the 'normal' John Cooper Works will have to do for now...
  8. Thousands applied, but ultimately, only 500 individuals have so far been selected to have a Ford GT built. (A second round of applications will be announced at a later date, though.) Once chosen, each and every soon-to-be owner gets a Ford GT Order Kit to help decide how to outfit their car. John Hennessey of Hennessey Performance Engineering is one of the lucky few to have secured a build slot and he's shared his Order Kit unboxing experience with us. It's a very special process indeed. Foremost, the box the kit is enclosed in looks to be pure carbon fiber, embossed with the Ford logo on the outside. A small clasp then opens up the true goodies. Inside, Ford supplies soon-to-be-owners with the possible paint and stripe configurations, interior combos, and various wheel finishes available for the GT. In total, eight paint swatches—finished over small model-like recreations of the GT—six different wheel and brake combos, and six interior finishes are all present. Talk about a personal touch; it doesn't get more personal than having customer choices shipped to you before production. Hennessey and three of his four sons sit and ponder the possible creations, but ultimately, it's going to take a little more time before a final decision is made. Hennessey says he has until the end of June to officially place his order and that his GT will be built during the fourth quarter of 2017. We're positive he'll be back to share more details about his car when it finally arrives, and what mods he has planned. Incidentally, Hennessey isn't the only tuner awarded a build slot for the GT. Another is Jack Roush of Roush Performance and just took delivery of his car on Friday.
  9. Didn't know Elton John is a GAY .... Yahoo news: Elton John to get hitched in May London, March 30 (IANS) Singer Elton John and his partner David Furnish will get married in the summer of 2014. They will marry in an English registry office in May, Furnish told the Las Vegas Review Journal at John's birthday party Friday at Fizz, Las Vegas, reports eonline.com. The two entered into a British civil partnership eight years ago. But, given that Friday marked the first day gays were allowed to exchange vows in England, they've decided to head to the altar again. "We don't feel the need to take an extra step legally," said Furnish. "But since we're committed for life, we feel it's really important to take that step, and take advantage of that amazing change in legislation. We all live by example," he added. link: https://sg.entertainment.yahoo.com/news/elton-john-hitched-may-114004452.html
  10. Hedge-fund magnate John Paulson is donating $400 million to Harvard University, the school said Wednesday, the largest gift in the school’s 379-year-old history and among the biggest ever to a U.S. university. The money will be used to endow the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, which will be renamed after Mr. Paulson. This “extraordinary gift will enable the growth and ensure the strength of engineering and applied sciences at Harvard for the benefit of generations to come,” said Harvard President Drew Gilpin Faust. Mr. Paulson graduated from Harvard’s Business School in 1980 and started an eponymous hedge fund in 1994. His firm made $15 billion in 2007 when it collected on bets that the housing market would collapse. Mr. Paulson personally pocketed $4 billion. The money will provide “a solid endowment for faculty development, research, scholarships and financial aid,” Mr. Paulson said in a statement. The gift comes on the heels of two other massive donations by alumni to Harvard, which has an endowment of $36 billion, one of the largest in the U.S. In 2014, hedge-fund manager Ken Griffin donated $150 million to the school, largely to be used for financial aid. At the time it was the largest gift in the school’s history. Less than a year later the family of Gerald Chan, a Harvard-educated investor, donated $350 million to the university’s school of public health. Other megagifts to top schools in recent years include $350 million to Cornell; $350 million to Johns Hopkins; $250 million to Yale and $225 million to the University of Pennsylvania. The gifts highlight the diverging fortunes of the nation’s colleges. The 10 richest institutions held nearly one-third of total cash and investments at four-year schools in fiscal 2014, while the top 40 accounted for two-thirds, according to Moody’s Investors Service. Wealth was concentrated among elite schools at similar rates before the financial crisis, but the gap shrunk as top schools lost big on more-volatile investments in 2008 and 2009. The rising fortunes of the wealthy universities are due to several factors, including the growing use of large-scale data analytics, which give college fundraisers a clearer picture of not only who has the capacity to give but who has the desire. That information makes large capital campaigns increasingly efficient and boosts the advantages of wealthier schools that produce wealthier alumni. Caroline Hoxby, a professor at Stanford who studies the economics of higher education, likens universities to venture-capital firms: They seek out the best students, invest heavily and frequently at a lossoften well beyond the cost of tuitionand hope to produce a handful of great successes who will give back enormous gifts or influence others to do so. Mr. Paulson’s gift will help transform a new campus Harvard is developing in the Boston neighborhood of Allston, across the Charles River from Cambridge. Allston has long been home to the business school and the football stadium, but Harvard is poised to begin construction on a 500,000-to-600,000- square-foot complex that will house part of the Engineering and Applied Sciences School, according to an article in Harvard Magazine. That complex is part of a much larger expansion.
  11. You’re looking at the most powerful production Mini ever made: the 2015 Mini John Cooper Works. Behind that mess of mesh grilles is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot with 228bhp and 236lb ft, a 10% power hike and a 23% torque increase over the outgoing JCW. Line the two cars up for a drag race and the new one will scorch its way from 0-100km/h in about 6 seconds, two tenths quicker than its predecessor. That’s with the standard six-speed manual ’box – speccing the optional six-speed ‘Steptronic’ auto sees the sprint time tumble to 6.1 seconds. Top speed is a hairy 152mph. To help the JCW avoid torque-steering its way through the nearest hedge it gets altered suspension and steering settings compared with the Cooper S, together with all kinds of electronic programs with confusing acronyms; DTC, DSC, EDLC… The latter is Electronic Differential Lock Control, which uses microchips to imitate the effect of a mechanical locking diff and help the Mini claw its way out of corners without smoking all that power away. New four-piston Brembo brakes get it stopped, while electronically controlled dampers are an option. The MINI John Cooper Works will make its appearance at the 2015 Detroit motor show in January before going on sale in April 2015.
  12. Hi, need your advice:) anyone bro here know whether the car park behind St. John Headquarters at Beach road open to public or only for season parking? If is open to public, what is the rate? Thank you
  13. For fellow forumers looking for furniture shop the abovementioned is certainly one you want to stay away. Our nightmare begin when we made the purchase for dining chairs with cushions (chair not useable without cushions) in mid Jan to be delivered this week. After selecting the cushion color and wood stain color we proceeded to make full payment. Few hours later the sales person called to inform that theres additional charges for cushions of approximate 1/3 of the chair price which we must top up or else cancel transaction. Looking at my invoice w clearly states that it's chairs + cushions, of course I refused to top up nor cancel the transactions. Having being served by a round robin of shop staff our efforts to get the order fulfilled were in vain. Most disappointedly a personal call to John Erdos himself had him siding his staff part of story that there wasn't anything amiss, a top up is required and no refund will be entertained. A staff who chose to remain anonymous said that this approach is consistent with past incidents. Past the delivery date, I still have not received what I paid for. I have lodged a police report and wld be seeking small claim tribunal intervention. Needless to say I personally condemns and blacklist it. Anyone has similar bad experience with this vendor or suggestion pls share.
  14. MINI recently announced they are going to expand their model line-up with several models and one of them is the MINI Paceman. There will be four variants of the Paceman and MINI has officially unveiled one of them which is the Paceman John Cooper Works. Images of the car were leaked recently on the internet, ahead of its official debut but no technical details were given out. Now, MINI has officially released the technical specifications of the car and it's rather impressive. The Paceman JCW is fitted with a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine that drives all four of its wheels. The engine makes around 208bhp with a peak torque of 280Nm available from 1,700 rpm to 4,500 rpm; with the overboost function activated. And that is good for a 0-100km/h timing of 6.5 seconds. Future buyers have the option of either a manual or an automatic six speed transmission. Mini has mentioned that the transmission choice will not affect the 0-100km/h timing. The Paceman JCW is 10mm lower than the standard model, all thanks to the John Cooper Works suspension system. 18 inch wheels comes as a standard on the Paceman JCW but there is an option for a set of 19 inch rims. A John Cooper Works exhaust system is fitted on the car and it gives the Paceman a rather unique exhaust note. A Sports button starts the engine and it is fixed on all cars regardless of the choice of options. In the interior department, many areas such as the dashboard, seats and door sills are decked with JCW and MINI logos. A black and red trim is themed for the Paceman JCW
  15. The Mini hatchback is close to its sell by date. Now in its second generation, the model has been around for over 10 years (since 2001). It was reported last month that the company were planning to release a special model for the final farewell of the Mini hatchback. It will be known as the Mini John Cooper Works GP II and pictures of it has surfaced on the Internet. This is not the first time Mini has pulled this trick. The Mini John Cooper Works GP was released when the first generation Mini hatchback was about to be replaced with a new model (which is the current generation Mini hatchback). The original Mini John Cooper Works GP was generally a tuned and stripped out Mini JCW. Churning out 218bhp from its 1.6-litre turbocharged four cylinder engine. The rear seats were removed and replaced with an internal strut brace, aluminium suspension components and also removed was the sound insulation. This resulted in a 40kg weight loss and a century sprint of less than 6.5 seconds. The above is pretty much about the original Mini JCW GP. Now let us see what Mini has to offer for the JCW GP
  16. The Mini Countryman is basically a 5 door hatchback that unlike its namesake is actually popular with urban motoring instead of acutally being used in the countryside. Its tall and largish profile (especially for a Mini) means that it has been embraced as a lifestyle vehicle and as a good vehicle for soccer mums and the sort. But whatever the reason people have for buying the Countryman, they can now buy the Countryman in the uprated John Cooper Works variant. This 2013 model is set for its official preview at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and it is due to be on sale by fall/winter of this year. This performance variant brings it closer in terms of spirit to the WRC Mini Countryman. Or so I'd like to think. Because if I didn't think so I'd just think that the 2012 Mini Countryman John Cooper Works edition is a tarted up, slightly obese vehicle that thinks that it is a mini-sized vehicle. So like any John Cooper Works (JCW) Mini, it will have all the go-fast bits that you'd expect. Exernally it gets a more aggressive bodykit, JCW badging, sports suspension and larger 18inch alloy wheels. Brakes, exhaust sytem and the 1.6liter engine gets the usual upgrading too. The turbocharged engine now makes 215hp and 280Nm torque with 300Nm available on overboost for short periods of time. Performance figures for the 2013 Countryman JCW are 0-100km/h in 7seconds and a top speed of 225km/h. As it has a reasonably small 1.6liter engine, the Countryman JCW consume 7.2ltr/100km in manual and 8.0ltr/100km in automatic. The Mini Countryman is basically an effort for BMW Mini to bring the Mini concept to those who have families and need the extra space

    John Q movie

I have a show to recommend to the rest of the forummers Movie: John Q starring Denzel Washington. Sypnosis: John Q. Archibald is an ordinary man who works at a factory and takes care of his family. His wife Denise and young son Michael are his world. But when Michael falls seriously ill and needs an emergency heart transplant operation that John Q. can't afford and his health insurance won't cover, he vows to do whatever it will take to keep his son alive. With time and options running out, a desperate gamble becomes his only hope--he takes the emergency room hostage. As John Q. barricades himself inside the hospital along with his unwitting group of emergency room hostages, many of them in need of medical care themselves, he faces off with a veteran police hostage negotiator and a quick-tempered police chief who both want to bring a swift end to the stand-off. I'm sure there'll a lot of you who watch this show before, but I still think it worth watching again. It's really moving and will prompt a lot of you to treasure your families a lot more. And that there are still hope in the world.
