Have anyone test driven the FY24 Carnival - seems like a pretty nice MPV.

Kia has only begun putting its next-generation Sorento SUV on the road last month, when a heavily camouflaged prototype was spotted testing alongside a BMW X5 – not a bad benchmark vehicle at all. Today, we can show you a considerably less shy prototype, roaming the Nurburgring Nordschleife wearing Recaro racing seats and tighter-fitting foil, allowing us to better gauge its design language and overall dimensions. Less fussy design The 2019 Sorento isn’t exactly the cleanest-looking SUV in its segment. It has a lot of curvy design elements that seem to be squeezed together tightly in order to create a somewhat modern aesthetic. So what does Kia have planned for an encore? Apparently something with a sharper yet simpler design, featuring a more boxy front end plus a very ProCeed-like window line that curves upwards toward the tailgate. As for the rear end, the cutout on this prototype only tells half the story, as the taillights don’t appear to be horizontal anymore. Instead, it almost looks like they feature a boomerang design that extends onto the fenders. Of course, whether or not that’s the case, we still can’t say for certain. As for what the new Sorento will be like to drive, we expect more efficient powertrains and better dynamics, while improved driver assistance and convenience technologies remain a given. Kia will probably launch its next-generation Sorento sometime next year as a 2021 model.

Following sister car Hyundai Kona's launch, Kia pulled the wraps off the Stonic, their version of the compact crossover. Personally, I prefer the look of this over the Kona although it's clear that the Stonic looks just like a raised up Rio hatchback with an identical interior as the Rio too.

Car debuts later in Paris. Korean automaker KIA has updated its mid-size SUV model, the Sorento. The nameplate is a stalwat among leasing customers because of versatile seatings and a high-riding stance. Engines lined up for the new car are expected to include two gasoline lumps, a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder and a 3.3 V6.

Dear all, I just have news that new NIRO will be launching on 3rd week of Sept 2022. The indicative pricing is $169,999 for SX hybrid model. The model should be now waiting for LTA to approve for sale. Seem nicer than previous facelift. Wonder if I should wait for Ioniq 5 to launch or go for this new NIRO. 🤔 I’m stuck in thinking to change hybrid or EV. 😅 what about you guys?

Have been reading a lot about this new compact EV from Kia and finally see it in metal while in Korea. A well built and right sized EV for our market. Acceptance and sales volume will depends heavily on its pricing when landed on our shore.

The Kia PV5 is a battery electric van and PBV produced by Kia. Based on the dedicated battery electric E-GMP.S platform, it is part of the Kia PV series. The design was previewed when Kia unveiled its purpose-built vehicle concepts, including the PV5, in January 2024. It was first introduced at CES and unveiled along with the EV2 and EV4 at the 2025 Kia EV Day in Spain on 24 February 2025. Pre-orders for the PV5 began in South Korea and Europe in the first half of 2025. The base model includes passenger, cargo and wheelchair-accessible versions, while conversion models include leisure, refrigerated and frozen vehicles. It is only 4.7m long in case you are fooled by its imposing look, in fact is 4.7m long by 1.9m tall by 1.9m wide. Even dimension also is similar to the ID Buzz NWM variant. Rightly so except that its look is not as iconic , else everything else is definitely more superior imho. Beside looking good, most importantly it is very sensibly priced. There is no news of it being launched over here but in UK the 5 seater variant can be had for about 31k pounds, which is exceptional value. ID Buzz whose NWB variant is being retailed at 60k pounds! And base on the S$320k price of the ID Buzz NWB variant now in Singapore, it should be sold at around $230k. Definitely worthy of consideration for anyone looking for a mid-size MPV that is of reputable brand and huge interior space.

The distance cousin of Hyundai Ioniq 5. Basing on the silhouette seen below, it look like a sportier version of Ioniq 5. I like! Hyundai inaugurated the E-GMP platform dedicated to electric vehicles a couple of weeks ago with the Ioniq 5 and now sister brand Kia is about to unveil the EV6 riding on the same underpinnings. The zero-emissions model is the firm's first EV to adopt the latest design language and adopts the new nomenclature that will be used by future dedicated electric cars, as small as the EV1 and as large as the EV9. Much like the Ioniq 5, it takes the shape of a crossover and a dedicated page on Kia UK's site mentions the design is derived from the 2019 Imagine concept. It looks nothing like other production models from the South Korean brand and has the typically short overhangs you'd expect from a dedicated EV. It will be able to cover more than 483Km and will only take 18 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent, which is the same thing we can say about the Ioniq 5. Should you be in a hurry, four minutes of charging equate to 100Km of range. 0 to 100Km/h will take only 3.5 seconds, which is quite interesting considering the quickest and most powerful Ioniq 5 of the bunch does the job in 5.2 seconds. EVs don't excel in terms of top speed and it should be the same story with the EV6, although it seems to be sportier than the Hyundai version, which is capped at 185 Km/h regardless of configuration.

Just saw advertisement about the 2024 Santa Fe coming up, anyone registered interest for the sneak preview too? On the other hand, heard from KIA SA that the Sorento may be coming out this June/july.

Have to say that Kia is really stepping up the game. Basing on these silhouette shots, I think it 同父异母 (same father different mother) sibling, Hyundai Tucson, has no fight... The official teaser campaign for the 2022 Kia Sportage has begun. The new Sportage will be officially unveiled on 8 June 2021,which is exactly 1 week from now.

SINGAPORE — Singapore will stop all new diesel car and taxi registrations from 2025, by which time eight towns will have electric vehicle (EV) charging points at all Housing and Development Board (HDB) car parks. And, by 2030, all new car and taxi registrations must be of cleaner-energy models — including electric, hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell cars — to meet the country’s goal to phase out internal combustion engine vehicles by 2040. These were among the initiatives announced by Transport Minister Ong Ye Kung in Parliament on Thursday (March 4). They are part of the Singapore Green Plan 2030 charting the Republic’s environmental targets over the next decade. Mr Ong said: “In many countries, inter-city driving is common and that causes a lot of anxiety among EV users because they are afraid of battery depletion. “But with our urban environment, Singapore is quite ideal as a test bed for the rapid adoption of EVs.” The first eight “EV-ready towns” that will be equipped with charging points at HDB car parks are Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Chua Chu Kang, Jurong West, Punggol, Queenstown, Sembawang and Tengah. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said that these towns were chosen because they are well spread out across the island and have many car parks with existing electrical capacity that can support charging points. The authorities will build more charging points at other HDB towns and aim to make all towns EV-ready before 2040. Under the Singapore Green Plan unveiled last month, 60,000 EV charging points will be built by 2030, more than double the target of 28,000 set last year. Giving more details on Thursday, LTA said that 40,000 of these charging points would be in public car parks and the remaining 20,000 on private premises. They will be built first at public car parks where there is spare electrical capacity, before being expanded to other car parks. Mr Ong said the authorities would focus on building slow chargers, because fast chargers require a major upgrade of almost all power substations and grid infrastructure. Right now, some fast chargers can be found at petrol kiosks, shopping malls, and industrial and commercial sites. Mr Ong said: “Where the infrastructure supports it, or where we decide to selectively upgrade the infrastructure, fast chargers can then be installed.” Efforts to build EV charging points have already started, with LTA and the Urban Redevelopment Authority launching their first tender to build more than 600 charging points at over 200 public car parks in November last year. For non-landed private residences, such as condominiums, LTA will introduce an EV Common Charger Grant to co-fund the installation of 2,000 shared chargers between July this year and December 2023. More details will be announced in the coming months. The Government will ensure that all new HDB developments will cater enough electrical capacity to support EV slow chargers at 15 per cent of their parking spots at minimum, LTA said. t will impose this requirement on new private buildings as well as buildings undergoing major redevelopment in “due course”. LTA will also launch an industry consultation later this month to determine how the private sector can take part in building more public charging points. To spearhead the new initiatives, the government agency will set up a National EV Centre to drive the adoption of such vehicles in Singapore. The centre will work with government agencies, industry partners and unions to develop new EV-related technologies and equip workers with the skills to support the presence of more EVs on the roads. In the Budget statement last month, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat said the Government would also lower the Additional Registration Fee floor for electric cars to zero between January 2022 and December 2023. The change would make electric cars more affordable as the floor is now set at S$5,000 under the EV early adoption incentive, which kicked in on Jan 1. Under that incentive, those registering fully electric cars are given a 45 per cent rebate on the Additional Registration Fee, capped at S$20,000. The Government will also adjust road taxes for mass-market electric cars, so that their owners may pay taxes comparable to those levied on owners with internal combustion engine cars. From next year, the road tax brackets of electric cars with power ratings of 30 to 90 kilowatt (kW) and 90 to 230kW will be merged. Cars falling into this combined bracket will be subject to the present road tax formula of the lower 30 to 90kW band. With this change, electric cars owners will pay up to 34 per cent less road tax, LTA said. For example, owners of a Hyundai Kona Electric or a Kia Niro — both with power ratings of 150kW — will pay S$1,095 in yearly road taxes, instead of the S$1,447 at present. Owners of the more powerful 225kW standard Tesla Model 3 will pay S$1,500 in road taxes, down from S$2,300. These changes will also apply to owners of hybrid petrol-electric cars who now pay road taxes based on their vehicles’ maximum electric power rating. The road tax brackets for cars with power ratings of less than 30kW and more than 230kW will stay unchanged. For owners of electric and hybrid cars who have paid their road taxes beyond 2022, excess taxes paid under the existing road tax scheme will be used to offset future taxes. If the vehicle is transferred to another owner before its next road tax renewal, excess road taxes paid will offset the transfer fee. The remainder will go to the vehicle’s new registered owner.

The 2020 Kia Telluride Three-Row SUV Is Big, Boxy, and Bold https://www.caranddriver.com/news/2020-kia-telluride-three-row-suv-photos-info Kia is going big with its new Telluride three-row SUV, both literally and figuratively. It will be the biggest crossover in Kia’s lineup, positioned above the (also three-row) Sorento. Upon this larger canvas Kia has painted bold styling that deviates little from that of the bold Telluride concept car from a few years ago. Final details are forthcoming, but Kia says the Telluride is several inches longer and wider than the Sorento. It’ll hold up to eight people, while the Sorento can only hold seven between its two front seats, three-across second-row bench, and its admittedly tight two-place third-row seat. That means you can expect the Telluride's third row to accommodate three humans, although don't rule out a seven-seat version with captain's chairs in the second row. Beyond its extra size, the Telluride also is far more distinctive than the Sorento, with interesting head- and taillight designs and a boxy, truck-like silhouette. Disregard a few of the custom off-road-y bits seen on this particular vehicle—including all-terrain tires, beefy bumpers, an intake snorkel, a roof rack, and a hatch-mounted spare tire—as it’s simply a modified version of the production car debuting at New York Fashion Week. The Kia's styling is so truck-like and bold, in fact, that you could be forgiven for thinking it's an old-school, body-on-frame SUV along the lines of Chevrolet's Tahoe or GMC's Yukon. Nonetheless, we suspect that the Telluride rides on a front-wheel-drive-based unibody platform, likely one that will be shared with a new three-row Hyundai SUV rumored to be called the Palisade. That it will be built at the same Georgia plant where Kia assembles the unibody Sorento serves as more evidence against the idea that this SUV is body-on-frame like the Borrego SUV that Kia sold for a brief while about ten years ago. Kia says the Telluride will use a V-6 engine but offers no specifics beyond that, leaving us guessing as to whether it'll be the same naturally aspirated 3.3-liter found in the Sorento or possibly a more powerful twin-turbocharged version of the same engine like that in the Stinger. An eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive seem like sure bets, at least. Inside, the Fashion Week–ified Telluride boasts a few unique bits of trim, including special leather and wood trim that won’t see production. Otherwise, the cabin isn’t likely to change all that much before it goes on sale early next year. Some spy pictures.

Honestly, I have lost count of the number of SUV / crossover available in the Kia stable. A quick check on Kia (Korea) website, revealed the following: Telluride Mohave (Borrego) Sorento Sportage Seltos Niro Stonic Soul That seems to be a lot of SUV / crossover for company with a total of 19 distinctive models in it lineup (some are not available here through). Now, Kia has just announced another new sub-compact SUV in India, and they plan to introduce it to other market at a later stage. That's too much of SUV / crossover if you ask me, but it seems that NO auto manufacturers are immune to the "crossover virus", which started spreading since 5 - 10 years ago. Kia Sonet Kia Sonet is an all-new subcompact SUV to be produced at Kia's Anantpur facility for sale in India and also exported to international markets. Rivalling the likes of Hyundai Venue and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet shares its engine and platform with the sister company Venue subcompact SUV and will be the second car in the country to feature clutchless transmission. Upfront, the Kia Sonet gets the company’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ with all-LED headlamps. The side profile looks quite impressive too and the car has a decent amount of lines and creases running across the body length, further escalating its sporty appeal. Now, coming to the interiors of the Kia Sonet, the SUV gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with as many as 55 UVO connected features as well. Moreover, you also get a digital instrument cluster and the same will come as standard on higher-spec variants. Apart from these, Kia Sonet comes with a three-spoke steering wheel with integrated buttons and scroll wheels. Prime features on the Kia Sonet include an auto climate control system, Bose sound system, electric sunroof, front ventilated seats, ambient lighting and six airbags – front, side and curtain. The Sonet also gets the world’s first virus protection tech for better safety in times like the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Kia will also be offering a smartwatch with the Sonet for remote functions. The list doesn’t end here as the Kia Sonet will also come with a wireless charger with a cooling function. The Sonet will be offered in a dual trim concept including the GT-Line trim that gets sporty-looking highlights on the outside as well as inside. The Kia Sonet will be launched with three engine options – two petrol and a diesel. These include a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol motor, a more powerful 1.0 T-GDi petrol mill and a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel unit. Transmission options on the Kia Sonet include five and six-speed manuals along with a seven-speed DCT, six-speed automatic, and more importantly, a new six-speed Smartstream intelligent manual transmission (iMT) that was seen on the Hyundai Venue iMT very recently. The biggest benefit of this transmission is that it offers clutchless shifting with the control of a manual shift lever. That said, the iMT on the Kia Sonet offers operation exactly like a manual gearbox with the need to shift gears but there is no clutch pedal. The Kia Sonet will also be offered with a six-speed automatic gearbox option with the 1.5-litre diesel engine option. You also get multi-drive & traction modes and grip control for the automatic variants of the Sonet.

As the camcar so aptly put it, “this one not happy le” What happened? Just yesterday on Ang Mo Kio Ave 9, a poor Kia Seltos got the tongue lashing of their year after turning in just a bit too soon and tight on a Toyota Axio. Looking at the video, you might be thinking “eh he turn right but not in the correct lane, then his fault lah”. WRONG. As we can see from the above photo, the Kia is perfectly within their rights to make a right turn despite not being in the right-most lane. Now, is that an excuse for turning a bit too early and risking an accident? Probably not. But they could be a new and inexperienced driver. Rookie mistake, totally understandable. The Toyota driver DID NOT care. Bro pulled up and blocked the Kia’s path to make sure there could be no escape. As usual, someone please translate whatever the driver said. All I know is that if it was in Cantonese it would be far more severe. After that, he just got back into his car and carried on with their day. Not sure why it was so short, if he was willing to get out of the car to scold them. Online chatter People agreed it was the Kia’s fault, by turning so tightly an accident could have happened. Others also praised the Toyota for the scolding. Hi, I noticed that the driver side mirror's emitting a noisy/ motor/ creaking sound whenever it close and re-open. I've already sprayed a lot ofWD-40 SPECIALIST HIGH PERFORMANCE SILICONE LUBRICANT but it the noise is still there. Interestingly that the issue had only occured after I washed my car. 😔 Please advice how to rectify this, it's driving me nuts! 😤

Driving a 2018 KIA Cerato. Speakers seemed spoilt (only 1 working) and need some advise. I don't need anything fancy, just simple speakers will suffice. 1) Can I just change the speakers without changing the head unit? 2) Any shop recommendation? I stay in the West. 3) What's the typical price range for changing 4 speakers? Any bang for buck speaker model recommendation?
