  1. With EV going mainstream in the next few years, the automotive industry is going through a hard "reset", so will the once viewed as problematic French manufacturer turn the tide while riding on the next wave? Let see... Straddling between crossover and chunky hatchback territory, this electrified Mégane E-Tech is a less glorified production version of last year’s Mégane eVision concept study. If you find the outline kind of familiar, it is because it bear similar proportions to the new Nissan Ariya Electric Crossover, which it shares the same CMF-EV platform and electric powertrain. The Mégane E-Tech Electric will initially be offered with 40kW and 60kW battery packs, with the latter providing a maximum driving range of 470 km in the WLTP test cycle. That’s about +20km more than what Renault had initially communicated when it also mentioned that the electric engine on the front axle produces 215 hp. Renault has not revealed if the range-topping powertrain from the all-wheel drive Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE which pumps out an impressive 389 hp and 600 Nm of torque working together with a larger 90kW battery to deliver up to 580km range and a 0-100km/h timing of 5.1 seconds will be available in the future. As usual, stay tuned for more information. The car will be officially unveiled on Monday (European time) at the 2021 Munich Motor Show.
  2. TL;DR – A Megane RS shows us how its 6-speed manual transmission can't outshift the GLA45s' 7-speed DCT transmission A user-uploaded video on Complaint Singapore features a Megane RS and a GLA45s drag racing from one traffic light to the next. Here's the video for reference: Where? The 22-second video takes place in the CBD area of Singapore, along Central Blvd. It's not a Hyundai The caption of the video states that the car racing the Mercedes is a Hyundai, but it's not. It's a Renault Megane RS Manual vs DCT Towards the end of the video, you'll notice that the GLA overtakes the Megane RS before the video cuts off. So, does that mean that a dual-clutch transmission is better than a manual one? Let's see how Google answered this question. Online chatter Whoa. Why so angry? COE oso lower, younger by 6mth, rd tax just paid, and mileage is a mere 30k kms(but then again u guys said mileage can be tampered). http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...264&DL=1000 New is going at 56k but seems like OMV beli low, dunoe due to what... Preferably looking for the Estate/Tourer version with the chrome roof rails, but seems like only one avail on sgarmart, and seems not so neat, details oso nvr declare much, and asking for quite hefty sum... http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...656&DL=1000 thanks in advance ...
  4. Another high-performance car has been spotted in a crash while going at a good speed. Our latest post shows a Black Renault Megane RS going at a decent speed before losing control while stepping on his brakes. e166fed5-f4f3-4fbc-b00b-9de415dbd071.MP4 From the video, we can see that the driver was trying to avoid the road works in his lane but curiously, the car seems to have malfunctioned while he was on his brakes. If you looked at the video carefully, you could see straight black lines on the road, indicating that the tyres locked up before he slammed into the left side of the viaduct before bouncing across into the opposite barrier. While it did seem like the Megane was at or slightly above the speed limit, the crash is quite a mystery to us as under normal circumstances, there is more than sufficient space to stop or avoid the roadworks. What do you guys think? Could it be a brake failure, tyre puncture or a case of the driver falling asleep at the wheel? Let us know in the comments below!
  5. Dear Seniors, I will like to ask if any of you are driving this particular model, as I have been experiencing it gearbox problems. A couple of time while in the jam, the panel will display a red message warning me that the Auto gearbox over heated. Did went and told the service staff at Wearners, which they told me that this car is using dual clutch. In a traffic jam situation, it will be advisable that i put it to neutral to prevent it from overheating, as the clutch system well keep on engaging while stationary during the jam. The other problem that i am experiencing is that at times, after starting the engine and move on, i will experience jerking or the gears not changing by itself and will keep dragging the gear when i accelerate. Suppose to move from 3 to 4th gears, the gear will just stuck at 3rd. Feedback to the service staffs before during routine servicing, they told me sometimes it is the on board computer system error, which I will need to stop the car, cut off the engine and wait for a few seconds before restarting the engine again and the problem will go away. This morning such problem happen again while i was on ECP. As i am not able to stop the car in the middle of expressway, therefore, I stop it after reaching the traffic light near Bugis. But before that I switch the gear system to manual while on the expressway. I was on 4th gear and try to swift the gear up as i moved faster, but the gear just skip 5th and go straight to 6th gear. Same thing when lowering the gear. I will skip 5th gear and move straight to 4th while i was on the 6th. My concern now is that as this car is coming 3 years old. Should I get the gear box change while it is still under warranty? Please advise. thanks. P.S: I am a normal driver whom don't play with manual gear as I used automatic gear since this is a daily car. When i do reversing, I will wait for a second or 2 before swifting from D drive to R.
  6. Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo has a go in the new Renault Megane R.S. Trophy-R at Goodwood. Interestingly, he chooses to go sideways up the hill. We have no idea why he did so but instead of going flat out on the hillclimb, Ricciardo choses to go sliding with the handbrake at relatively low speeds. We are sure he is having fun and we are also pretty sure the rear tyres is going to have a few flat spots after this peculiar run. As for the car, it is the current record holder at the Nurburgring for the fastest production front-wheel drive car and compared to the Megane R.S. Trophy, the Trophy-R is 130kg lighter and with 296bhp, the car will complete the century sprint in 5.4 seconds. It tops out at 262km/h and is only available with a six-speed manual gearbox.
  7. Based on Renault's history, we can probably guess that there will be more hardcore versions of the Megane R.S. even after the Trophy variant. And spotted on the Nuburgring recently by Carscoops, it does really seemed like Renault is working on a new flagship for its hot hatch. Likely to be called the Trophy-R like the previous generation Megane, the new one comes with a a vented bonnet with a big bump in the middle that might mean something. Meanwhile, the red accent on its front bumper is very similar to the old Trophy-R and the car spied on the Green Hell has its LED running lights deleted, presumably to cater for some sort of cooling for the brakes or engine. From the side, we can see new wheels plus larger brakes and a large white tape that probably camouflages its decals. As for the interior, the spy photographers manage to reveal a red steel bar where the rear seats should be, reaffirming the possibility of the prototype being the Megane RS Trophy-R. Being the most track-focused variant, the car will likely be the lightest but unknown whether the car will get more power or any other handling upgrades.
  8. Everyone at SgCarMart team loves the Megane R.S. It is one of the best hot hatch on sale but its latest Trophy-R variant thinks it can do better. With no confirmation on whether it will arrive on our shores or not, we can only rely on reviews from overseas publications whether it is good or not. Thankful, CAR Magazine has driven the car and uploaded a video review of it on track. Watch the video below and see how the most extreme version of the French hatch which is 130kg lighter than standard variant, tries to convince us it is one of Renault's greats.
  9. This looks very 3 series. If only it drives like one, it wuld be perfect.
  10. Looks like the hot Hatch category getting interesting next Year You Have the Renault RS which is zero to 100 in about 5.7 to 6 sec New engine. Not as ricey as the Civic and tamer. Functional Diffuser. 4 Wheel Steering, which may not be everyone's liking. Hopefully, they nail it this time round. Its downsize to 1.8T instead of 2.0 T so I suspect no replacement for displacement means the 150 to 200 kmh range will be slower on the straight. Comes stock at 280 bhp while GTi is 235 bhp. vs Civic 308 bhp. Let see what kind of prices. If the number falls in the 145 to 155 K range, probably have very good takeup rate.
  11. In the market for a hot hatch? You might want to watch this video review by Autocar where they compare the Hyundai i30 N goes up against the Renault Megane R.S. 280. Unfortunately, the comparison isn't very fair as the i30 N they used in video is the standard variant with 'only' 247bhp instead of the 271bhp of N Performance variant. It is also missing the electronic limited slip differential, a set of larger 19-inch wheels with stickier tyres. Meanwhile the Renault packs 276bhp and is equipped with the optional Cup chassis that comes with a limited slip differential and a stiffer suspension set up. So which is the better car? Watch the video and find out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=472&v=GGBLDpJ2jf0
  12. Renault has released an official film covering aspects of its new hot hatch, the Renaultsport Megane R.S. It looks ready to battle the Civic Type R! Fitted with a 1.8-litre turbocharged engine that is shared with the Alpine A110, the car has a power figure of 276bhp and 390Nm of torque. It can be had with a six-speed manual or dual-clutch gearbox and puts its power down onto the road via the front wheels. Headlining features of the car include the new 4Control four-wheel steering which is said to improve agile in low speeds situation while increasing stability at higher speeds. Watch the video and see what else Renault has to say about its new car! https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=431&v=z_bbUS55atM
  13. With around two months till Renault reveals the Megane RS, someone managed to leak out how the car looks like through its patent images. Owned by the World Intellectual Property Organization, these images show that the new Megane RS will adopt a number of aggressive touches. These include larger air intakes in the new front bumper and the new air gill just behind the front wheels. On the topic of wheels, the rims are new too while the rear gets a similarly sporty treatment via a new functional diffuser and a widened bumper. Details about the car remain little but it is reported that the car will only be available in five-door guise and will use a 2.0-litre turbocharged four that will output around 300bhp. Both a six-speed manual transmission and dual-clutch EDC will be offered while front-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering will come standard.
  14. Yo bros and sis, I'm planning to change to a conti ride and was crossed between a Renault Megane 1.6(A) or a VW Jetta 1.6(A). Any experience and comments for these cars? I owned a Renault 5 before but that was donkey years back. I should say this car has lotsa problems. Everyweek squat at the workshop waiting for it to be repaired. Has Renault improved over the years? Thanks!
  15. Renault's next Megane RS has been spotted in South Europe doing some testing with minimal camouflage and for those who are hoping to see it in three door guise, you might be disappointed. As reported by Carscoops, the new car has a few RS characteristics, such as the twin center exhaust (the exhaust openings at the end of the diffusers looks fake), the large Brembo brake calipers and new wheels. It also gets a more aggressive front bumper, wider fenders, beefier side skirts and a pronounced rear diffuser. Expect the new car to be fast, with rumors claiming it will have upwards of 300bhp, courtesy of a 2.0-litre turbocharged four. Power will be sent to the front wheels through a dual-clutch transmission or a six-speed manual. Set to debut at next year's Geneva Motor Show, expect the first cars to reach customers by the end of 2017.
  16. hi all, as above. need first-hand comments on maintenance and performance. pm me if too private to share? Thanks all
  17. Can the Road & Track dampers by Ohlins make a difference in terms of pace and feel on a hot hatch? EVO UK takes two identical Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy out to give us the answer. Available as an option on the Megane RS 275 Trophy, the video shows us how much difference a good set of dampers can affect the car when driven fairly brisk. While our local roads aren't exactly the worse, those who attend track days might want to take note in the video on how much time you can shave off by just setting up your dampers correctly. As for the minority who do venture onto Malaysia's trunk roads, we are sure you would understand how important it is to have a car whose suspension can soak up and smoothen the road when needed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=504&v=nCJQ6GxfwFc
  18. The Nürburgring Nordschleife is called the Green Hell for a darn good reason and we are glad this Megane RS driver survived its horrific accident! Spotted on the web, the following video shows one of the worst accidents we have ever came across in the recent years. Shot from a dashcam of a Nissan 200SX coupe, a Renault Megane RS was seen overtaking the Nissan 'in excess of 190km/h' when it lost control of it. Considering how bad the impact was, we are extremely glad and surprised to see the driver get out of his car on his two own feet. According to the owner of the video, the driver only suffered from minor bruises and cuts and was fine otherwise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=40&v=tW3vOTB_gCg Warning: the video contains explicit language
  19. The tradition of exclusive, performance-oriented Renaultsport models continues with the unveiling of a new limited edition Megane hot hatch - the Megane Renaultsport 275 Trophy. The chassis comes with limited slip differential as standard, while Renaultsport's engineers have managed to extract 10bhp more from its powerplant. The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine now boasts 275bhp and a peak torque of 360Nm - available across 3,000rpm to 5,000rpm. Despite the power increase, fuel consumption and emissions have been carefully contained to stand at 16.0km/L and 174g/km of CO2 emissions respectively. The 275 Trophy is standard fitted with a light Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, which features a specific, more raucous bark that is sure to appeal to those who appreciate sporty engine notes. The limited edition car can also be specified with optional adjustable Ohlins dampers with steel springs, which allows drivers to adjust their damper settings without a fuss. Also available as an option are Michel Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres - a product of joint collaboration between Michelin and Renaultsport - specifically for the new limited edition front-wheel drive car. Inside, the drivers are settled on leather and Alcantara adorned Recaro bucket seats with red stitching. The same hue of stitching has been carried over to the rear bench seat, while the headrests feature Renaultsport badging. Other interior highlights include red stitching for the Alcantara steering wheel trim and handbrake gaiter, as well as an alloy gear lever knob. The new halo model of the Megane nameplate is set to make its U.K. debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed in June, before it goes on sale in 20 countries worldwide.
  20. Well, it seems that Renault, one of the best makers of hot hatches, has reclaimed the title of the fastest FWD around the Nurburgring from the Seat Leon Cupra 280 with its new Megane RS 275 Trophy-R. Watch the video below to see how it demolishes the track in a blistering 7 minutes 54 seconds. http://dai.ly/x1zo9j4_renault-megane-r-s-275-trophy-r-nurburgring-nordschleife-lap-record-full-version-under8_autoWhile the Leon Cupra that was used to go under 8 minutes on the 'Ring was rumoured to be slightly tweaked, Renault claims its Trophy-R can be bought from the factory straight. However, you will need to spec it correctly in order to get it in its record breaking guise. To make it clearer for you readers to understand, we listed the differences between the RS265 that we currently get here, the new non-R RS275 Trophy and the new hardcore RS275 Trophy-R. From the RS275 Trophy, we get Nearly 10bhp more as compared to the RS265 Öhlins's trick Road&Track dampers Front composite springs by Allenvard Akrapovic's titanium exhaust which shaves 18kg off the RS265 19-inch Speedline Turini wheels which trims off 5kg of unsprung weight Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 semi-slicks And we then go for the upgrade to the RS275 Trophy-R which will shave nearly 100kg off by... Deleting the rear wiper which shaves 1kg Deleting the air-con and radio which takes away 10kg Deleting the soundproofing materials which trims 18kg Deleting the rear seats which cuts 20kg Using a pair of single-piece polycarbonate Recaro bucket seat in front to minus off 22kg Using a titanium Akrapovic exhaust with a carbon fibre tailpipe trim to shave off 4kg more Finally, we will need to tick the Nurburgring Pack on the option list which includes... A 'performance' brake upgrade which consists of 350mm discs mounted on aluminium bowls which in turn removes 3kg A lithium-ion battery that replaces the standard lead battery to save 16kg of weight 2 Sabelt safety harnesses 4 spare wheel covers and a retaining strap After all that weight saving, the RS275 Trophy-R weighs in at 1280kg and does the century sprint in 5.8 seconds. Fast enough we say. So will we see a Trophy-R here which has a limited production of only 250 units? I hope so!
  21. I know one is turbo and the other is NA. One has stop production and other is very new. Which one will you choose for its performance?
  22. Anybody care to comments? Pros and cons? Am helping a friend looking for 07 1.6 sedan with 6.2k depreciation. Currently market doesn't allow him to look at Toyota (VIOS) or Nissan (Latio) as the depreciation is ridiculously high at 8k-9k plus. Only 4 door sedan please. strictly no hatchback. Would interested to know more on Megane in terms of maintenance, fc and parts cost compared to GLX and Avante. So far, Megane has the highest OMV of 19-20K with low depreciation of 5k+ annually and 10k scrap return.
  23. Metal folding roofs and the DNA from a conventional saloon. This is the perfect recipe for a hot Coupe-Cabriolet and French car manufacturers have found these two ingredients especially attractive. The French are about as good in the kitchen as they are in making these 'CCs', just look at Peugeot and Renault and you'll know what I'm on about, Volkswagen have their EOS but I don't think its as pretty as the French cars. Well now its time to bring back one of the pioneers of the affordable, folding metal roof CC species. A first look at the new Renault Megane CC. The old Megane CC wasn't really a drivers car. It looked pretty no doubt, but it was heavy, and quite a lump to be honest. However, its main purpose isn't really for drivers looking for a fast ride in the first place. Its for people who want a car to drive on the weekend, with the top down. Even if it meant exposing that beer belly or that bald patch its fine. Because at least he was driving in a pretty car. And in that sense, the old Megane CC did not disappoint. Angular it was, but bold and unique it still is. And that holds true with the new one as you can clearly see. It has headlights which look like they have been cloned from the Laguna Coupe which is an absolutely gorgeous car in my opinion, looks great on the Megane too. And that outward attractiveness seeps inwards as the interior is also rather similar to the Laguna Coupe, looking strangely German, but high quality nonetheless so no signs of skiving on the job there. The new Megane CC will be officially revealed at the Geneva Motor Show next month and it looks more refined, sophisticated and elegant compared to its predecessor. And to make those who want a nippier ride, the engineers have made its body 80% stiffer than before in their attempt to improve the handling. Doubt it'll work but moving on. The drop-top is 1 second quicker than before, 21 seconds to be precise and there's a wind deflector which is becoming increasingly common these days in convertibles which prevents your hair from being messed up to roughly 90km/h. As for the engines, its same old, same old.. Not too powerful I'm afraid. But like I said, that's the way this car is meant to be. You aren't supposed to be roaring down highways because this car is meant to be driven slowly so the girls will notice. There will be a 128bhp 1.4 litre turbo charged unit or a 138bhp 2.0 litre petrol engine under the bonnet and hopefully we'll be able to enjoy Renault's new Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) system since everyone is raving about dual clutch systems. Lets see if this one is any good. All in all, this is a pretty good car to look at. But for the real drivers who want some kick out of their car, this isn't the car for you.
