Model 3 production is scheduled to begin in late 2017. When production begins, we will begin deliveries in North America starting on the West Coast, moving east. As we continue to ramp production, we will begin deliveries in Europe, APAC and right-hand drive markets. It is not possible to ship to all regions simultaneously because regulators in each part of the world have slightly different production requirements. Staggering deliveries in this way also allows us to provide the best possible customer experience. We recognize that everyone wants to get their Model 3 as quickly as possible. For now, the company is only highlighting the upcoming electric sedan's design. Technical info reportedly arrives on July 14. Hyundai's teasers for the Ioniq 6 pitched the vehicle as an "electrified streamliner," and the company wasn't lying. The body has an arched shape that makes it look like the car would glide through the air. The design relationship with the earlier Prophecy concept is clear. At this time, we have no details about the model's drag coefficient to know how aerodynamic it really is. The front end has clean, minimalist styling. The lower fascia includes vertical portions on each side. The hood is smooth, and the raised sections for the headlights lead to the A-pillars. Along the sides, the arching beltline along the doors accentuates the roof's curvature. There's some subtle sculpting along the lower section of the doors. The vehicle in these pictures has rear-facing cameras instead of mirrors. The wheels have a complex, asymmetrical spoke pattern. The Ioniq 6 has a sporty rear end. There's a spoiler at the base of the back window. Below it, there's a subtle ducktail spoiler that incorporates into the tail's sculpting. The full-width taillights have square, pixel-like elements that lend a vaguely retro-futuristic aesthetic to the design. The lower fascia has a pair of vertical elements with red and white reflectors in small, square elements, which matches the other rear lamps. Hyundai also isn't providing any technical details about the interior, but we can learn a lot just by looking at the pictures. Separate screens for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment share a single bezel. On the outer edges, the dashboard arches upward to create space for the displays that show the side camera video feed. A panel below the dash has an array of capacitive buttons for operating the HVAC system. There's a two-spoke steering wheel with capacitive buttons on each side. Four, square lights are in the center of the wheel. It's not clear whether this is purely decorative or serves some function. These photos of the cabin show a strip of purple accent lights on the dashboard and blue illumination coming from the lower door panels. We don't know whether owners can change these colors because the bright shades might not be to everyone's taste. The Ioniq 6 rides on the E-GMP platform that is also underneath the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. The sedan will reportedly come with a 77.4-kilowatt-hour battery pack. With two electric motors, expect an output of around 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts). Single-motor and more performance-focused versions are possible, too.

The model resembles an embryo at day 14, when it acquires internal structures but before it lays down the foundations for body organs, according to the team at Israel's Weizmann Institute of Science. The scientists' work was published in the journal Nature on Wednesday after a pre-print came out in June, during the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR)'s annual meeting in Boston. The Israeli team emphasised that they were a long way from being able to create an embryo from scratch. "The question is, when does an embryo model become considered an embryo? When that happens, we know the regulations. At the moment we are really, really far off from that point," said team leader Jacob Hanna. However, they said the work could open the door to new ways to test the effect of drugs on pregnancies, better understand miscarriages and genetic diseases, and perhaps even to grow transplant tissues and organs. "They are not identical. There are differences from human embryos, but still, this is the first time, if you open an atlas or a textbook, you can say - yeah I can really see the similarity between them," said Hanna. He said his team took stem cells derived from adult human skin cells, as well as others cultured in the lab, then reverted the cells to an early state with the potential to develop into different cell types. They then manipulated them to form the basis of something structurally resembling an embryo. It is not an actual or synthetic embryo - a term criticised by the ISSCR and other scientists - rather a model showing how one works. "In about 1 percent of the aggregates we can see that the cells start differentiating correctly, migrating and sorting themselves into the correct structure, and the farthest we could get is day 14 in human embryo development," he said. Their next goal, Hanna said, is to advance to day 21 and also reach a threshold of a 50% success rate. Magdalena Żernicka-Goetz, a professor of development and stem cells at the University of Cambridge, said the study joins six other similar human embryo-like models published from teams around the world this year, including from her lab. "None of these models fully recapitulate natural human development but each adds to ways in which many aspects of human development can now be studied experimentally," she said. The study raises some ethical questions over the possibility of potential future manipulation in human embryo development, Hanna and others noted. He drew a comparison to nuclear physics, however, arguing that you should not stop all research in that field because somebody might choose to make a nuclear bomb. Can afford Tesla, cannot afford to charge? Just go to your nearest condo I guess. What happened? A Tesla Model Y at Sol Acres condominium was reported to have broke the lock to a wall plug to charge using the condo’s electricity, despite not being a resident vehicle. Pictures in the Facebook post show that the Tesla was using a wall plug in order to charge the car. The plug was apparently locked and subsequently broken, though no signs of damage were shown in the photo. According to a forum post on Tesla Motors Club, it might take 30-40 hours to charge the car up from empty using a 13A wall plug like in the picture. So the owner will have to leave the car there for 30-40 hours, by which time maybe security will get wise and put clamps on the car. If that happens, they would need to pay to remove the wheel clamp so the whole ordeal would have cost about the same plus the additional wasted time and embarassment. Online chatter Many presented very simple solutions to this problem. Paid for package servicing with discount 1 year ago...so just went in. Major servicing so book 1st slot at 8am. I waited 1 year for this servicing, in between change oil outside once coz low millage due to semi retired, less use of the car. 2 years 6 mths more, then scrap the car since COE so high. A Tesla Model Y was spotted causing a massive jam at Woodlands Checkpoint because it’s at the motorcycle lane. The footage of the video is short but it shows that someone is behind the wheel so… What is going on? How did it come to this? Besides that we can see the sea of motorcycles waiting behind the tesla, as well as a picture showing that the Tesla might have been able to cross the checkpoint despite the incorrect lane. An official teaser campaign from Honda began six months ago, featuring everything from auto show appearances to setting lap records, all with cars still wearing a camo wrap. Now, the wait is finally over and all is revealed. Well, except for a few minor details like power, performance, and price. Admittedly, those aren't minor details but Honda promises more information is coming soon. What we can share right now is that the newest Civic is the most powerful Type R ever. In fact, Honda says it's the fastest, most powerful Honda-branded vehicle ever offered for US buyers. The familiar turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder from the outgoing Type R still holds station under the hood, sending its power to the front wheels through a revised six-speed manual transmission. There is no sequential gearbox, no all-wheel drive, and no wild hybrid tech. In terms of powertrain, it's a proper old-school hot hatchback. As with the engine, Honda isn't ready to share details on the Civic Type R's underpinnings save for it being "enhanced." We do know the car is lower, longer, and wider than the previous model. It also wears a wider set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, all of which surely contributes to the new Type R setting a front-wheel-drive lap record at Suzuka. Visually speaking, we finally get a good look at the Type R's big rear wing in context with the car. It's not the only upgrade – the front clip is a bit more aggressive with a mesh grille and revised corner intakes. Subtle side sills are found on the fenders behind the front wheels that work with the intakes, enhancing airflow efficiency around the car. Type R wheels and tires neatly fill bulged fender flares, and to maintain the sporty look, the hot hatch has wider rear doors versus the standard Civic. A rounded rear fascia with a diffuser and the triple-exit exhaust completes the exterior makeover. Inside, of course there's red mixed with black. You'll find red on the aggressive sport seats, carpeting, badging, and contrast stitching. Black covers the rest, including the Civic's handsome dash which carries over from the standard model. A special +R driving mode adds some visual excitement to the driver display, and an onboard data logger offers real-time information on the car and how it's responding to the driver.

Over the past decade, more businesses and service providers are moving towards SaaS (Software as a Service) and subscription model, which claims to provide user with the most up to date products and technologies. While I am not a supporter for such business model (I am still using MS Office 2019 instead of Office 365), I have no issue with it since it is one of the many options for consumers. But the recent move by Tesla and Mercedes actually have me sit up and wondering if the whole automotive industry is also moving towards this "new" business model, at the expense of consumer's interest? For those who are not aware, Tesla's full self-driving capability is now available via subscriptions instead of a lump sum cost up front. Full Self-Driving Capability Subscriptions Tesla has started offering a monthly subscription for its Full Self Driving package for $199 per month (i.e. $2,388 per annum). Tesla owners who bought the since-discontinued Enhanced Autopilot package can get the FSD subscription for $99 per month, according to Tesla’s support page. Until now the automaker had sold its FSD package for a one-time fee of $10,000, but the monthly subscription lets users test the FSD features without a long-term commitment. Tesla owners can cancel their monthly FSD subscription at any time, according to the terms on the Tesla website. And shortly after that, Mercedes follow suit with an annual subscription plan for Full Rear-Wheel Steering for its EQS in Germany. Mercedes-Benz EQS To Offer Rear-Wheel Steering As A Subscription All Mercedes-Benz EQS models leave the factory with all the hardware necessary to turn their rear wheels by up to 10 degrees, they just need the right software. Auto Motor und Sport reports that German customers can pay €489 ($571) per year to have the feature unlocked or put down €1,169 ($1,376) upfront to have the software for three years. Interestingly, the publication notes that the system also requires the 360-degree camera which itself is a €1,130 ($1,331) option. In Singapore, where we are literally leasing a car for 10 years, such subscription are simply adding on to the owner's expenses (without taking into consideration the saving in vehicle taxes if the cost were to be paid up front). Going at this rate, what will be next, virtual cockpit, AEB, FCW, etc. to be provided on subscription basis? And what if the owner did not make timely payment, will the important safety features be disabled suddenly, resulting in accident(s)? Share your view here.

My personal opinion is that the Model 3 is the better looking car and is where I would put my money (not that I have any). I used to think that it looks identical to the Mazda3, at least the frontal and side profile but after having driven one, I concede my impression did changed for the better. I don't know about the Polestar 2 but the surround sound system in the Model 3 Performance is superb 😆 Plus the oddly tall ride height of the Polestar 2 resembles a crossover more than a sedan, and that's not exactly to my liking. But the night ended in a completely different matter. Since this was a friendly encounter and a curious invitation, he accepted. What he didn’t expect was to see this owner attempt a jump in that exact spot with his brand-new Tesla Model S. The YouTuber even says that the driver of the flying and now totaled Tesla attempted this on its own. Moreover, he’s done without any practice or test run beforehand. Naturally, a crowd gathers, and everyone starts filming. For some reason, the owner of the acrobatic Tesla violently accelerated, and the jump instantly became a very short flying lesson. The outcome, well… You can see it for yourself. The car was destroyed. What’s sad is that other innocent owners had their cars damaged as well because the impact on the ground was so brutal. Honda wants to electrify two-thirds of its lineup worldwide by 2030, which means that future performance vehicles from the brand could eventually be EVs. Hideki Kakinuma, the Honda Civic Type R project leader, talked to Motor Trend about what might happen: "Yes, of course, an electric Type R is possible." He indicated that the major challenge was offering the necessary performance at a reasonable price.
