  1. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/684207/2024-vw-passat-debut-specs/ Volkswagen killed the Passat in the United States after the 2022MY but the midsize family car soldiered on in Europe with its more sophisticated MQB underpinnings. The Old Continent is getting a ninth generation of Wolfsburg's best-selling nameplate ever, after the Golf but ahead of the Beetle. Since the vehicle's inception in 1973, VW has delivered 30+ million units. The new B9 comes strictly as a wagon as the sedan is officially dead. Featuring revised underpinnings (MQB Evo) shared with the upcoming next-gen Tiguan and Golf Mk8 facelift, the 2024 Passat Variant is considerably larger than the old Euro-spec B8. It now stretches at 193.5 inches (4917 millimeters) in length, therefore making it a substantial 5.7 in (144 mm) longer than before. Width is up by 0.8 in (20 mm) to 72.9 in (1852 mm) while height is largely unchanged, at 59.2 in (1506 mm). As for the wheelbase, it has been elongated by 1.97 in (50 mm) to 111.8 in (2841 mm). While not revolutionary, the styling isn't evolutionary either since there are quite a few changes as VW has aligned the new Passat with the design of its electric ID models. Recently spotted without any camouflage, the ID.7 Variant looks a tad more futuristic but the similarities are easy to notice. As usual, the exterior appearance will depend on the trim level: Passat, Business, Elegance, and R-Line. Wheels up to 19 inches in size are going to be offered, along with newly developed matrix LED headlights and dynamic LEDs at the rear where a light bar has been fitted. The interior represents a complete departure from the Passat B8 since VW has eliminated most of the switchgear. You'll be accessing nearly all of the available functions from the touchscreen, which will measure a generous 12.9 inches even in the base model. At an additional cost, the infotainment can be upsized to 15 inches. A fully digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster is standard, so the German brand is saying goodbye to the good ol' analog dials that were offered on the outgoing Passat. By moving the gear selector onto the steering column, the engineers were able to free up space between the seats for extra cargo capacity in the same vein as on the ID.7. Further mirroring the electric sedan is a new switch on the left side to control the turn signals and wipers. Comfort in the front can increase by opting for the new heated, ventilated, and massaging seats with 14-way electrical adjustment. That jump in size we mentioned earlier has not only increased legroom but also the luggage compartment capacity by 1.41 cubic feet (40 liters) to 24.3 cu ft (690 l) with the rear seats up. Fold the bench and the volume jumps to 67.8 cu ft (1,920 l) or a whopping 4.9 cu ft (140 liters) more than on the previous Passat Variant. The engine lineup is comprehensive and it includes a mild-hybrid gasoline unit for the first time in the Passat's history. It's a 1.5-liter eTSI cylinder deactivation technology and 148 horsepower (110 kilowatts). Up next is a bigger 2.0 TSI with 201 hp (150 kW) in front-wheel-drive flavor and a more potent configuration with 261 hp (195 kW) and 4Motion all-wheel drive. If you'll still want a diesel in 2024, VW has got you covered with its 2.0 TDI offered in three states of tune: 121 hp (90 kW) and 148 hp (110 kW) as FWD models and 190 hp (142 kW) with AWD. All gasoline and diesel versions of the new Passat route power to the road via a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. Then there are the plug-in hybrids marketed as "eHybrid" models. The base variant offers 201 hp (150 kW) and 258 pound-feet (350 Newton-meters) of torque whereas the more potent model pushes out 268 hp (200 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm), making it the strongest Passat money can buy. These two PHEVs get a 1.5-liter TSI, a six-speed DSG, and a 19.7-kWh battery pack providing up to 62 miles (100 kilometers) of electric range. With the new-generation Passat, VW has implemented support for DC fast-charging at 50 kW to juice up the battery from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 25 minutes. With the battery charged and a full tank of gas (11.9 gallons or 45 liters), you'll be able to drive for around 621 miles (1,000 kilometers) before having to refuel. Making its public debut next week at IAA Munich, the 2024 VW Passat is scheduled to go on sale in the first quarter of next year. It won't be built in Germany anymore as production is moving to Bratislava, Slovakia where it's going to be assembled alongside the new Skoda Superb. Unlike the wagon-only Passat, its Czech sibling will retain both liftback and wagon body styles. Passat B8

Hi bros, Starting a thread for Passat B8. Collected my Passat Highline on 30 Dec. Great car to drive. Roomy interior. Any B8 bros here? Cheers
  3. Guys am considering getting a passat 1.8. Can any owners here comment the experience with this variant? May I know what's the typical servicing costs per 15000km? There's really no topic about the costs here?
  4. The Volkswagen Passat is a smart-looking executive sedan that offers all the right things. Take a gander into it and you'll surely be taken away by the roomy interior. But do not be mistaken, space isn't all that it has to offer. The Volkswagen Passat is a marvelous proposition that combines maximum practicality, comfort, luxury, and safety in a stylish package. Really, it is likely to be a better car than what you are used to. Executive styling for the sophisticated driver The experience of all cars starts with its exterior, and with the Passat, from the moment you set your eyes on one, you'll know that it is the right choice. With an adequately-sized chrome grille flanked by a pair of exquisite LED head lights separate LED daytime running lights and cornering lights, the front-end is reminiscent of other cars in Volkswagen's line-up. But what really stands out isn't the familiar front-end, it is the Passat's contours and distinct body lines, its long, lowered bonnet, short overhang and a long wheelbase which works together to create a distinct, elegant look. Ample space for passengers to travel in comfort Open the doors and you'll be greeted with a pleasant atmosphere with a strong sense of spaciousness - thanks to the high-quality materials and its massive interior space. Unlike most other sedans, the rear bench seats easily accommodate three, with a centre seat that is wide enough to accommodate an adult. Perhaps one of the Passat's strongest suits comes from its lengthy wheelbase, you'll see when you take a seat in it and notice the generous legroom, switch over to the rear and you might just start to wonder if you've wandered into the rear of a limousine instead. Apart from legroom, the Passat also offers excellent elbow room and headroom for all occupants. Cutting-edge systems offering maximum safety Up front, the Passat is equipped with a pair of outstanding head lights, casting a beam of a similar spectrum to that of daylight, illuminating the roads with excellent effectiveness while consuming less energy. The pair of automatic head lights is also packed with a simple yet useful 'Leaving Home' and 'Coming Home' feature, it illuminates your path to and from the car, providing an executive feel. At the rear, the Passat's tail lights features an innovative LED array that changes under braking - a design that is not only unique, but also results in a prominent indication of braking. Equipped with an advanced airbag system consisting of 6 airbags, including side impact airbags for the front seats and curtain airbags that protect both front and rear passengers, all occupants are well-protected during an accident. On top of the all-round protection offered by the airbags, the Passat is also equipped with multi-collision brake system that can limit the damage by detecting an accident and initiating the brakes to prevent further collisions. Driver fatigue has a huge impact on driving and safety, the Passat comes with a rest assist fatigue detection system which monitors driver behavior, noting any erratic steering movement and lane deviations and alerts the driver with a visual display on the dashboard, as well as a warning sound. Kick back, relax and enjoy a comfortable ride or drive While the capacious interior should've sealed the deal when it comes to travelling in comfort, the Passat offers more than just that. The driver gets an ergoComfort seat that is designed for maximum comfort. There is a vast array of adjustment options to ensure that you can have the perfect ergonomically supported seating position while the memory function allow you to replicate that setting every time you get in the seat. Long drives are no longer a concern with built in massage function for the driver. With three independently controlled temperature zones for the driver, front passenger and rear passengers, you can adjust the temperature to just what you like for ultimate comfort when on the road. The air conditioning system is also equipped with an active biogenic filter and automatic air recirculation to filter out allergens and keep the air quality at a consistently high level. Enjoy a calm and soothing experience when driving at night with the ambient lighting system, which also makes it easier for you to find your way around in the dark. Equipped with all you'll ever need for an enjoyable trip A capable executive sedan should be able to haul your family along on an enjoyable road trip, with its large, comfortable interior, the Passat is definitely capable of doing so. You'll also be able to carry all the luggage you'll need in its large 586-litre boot. Of course, space alone wouldn't suffice, the Passat offers more than just that. A high-resolution digital display provides all key information you need as you drive, meanwhile an 8.0-inch touch screen display with Bluetooth connectivity and 8 speakers provides all the entertainment you'll need for an excellent trip. Opt for the Highline trim and you'll get the 9.2-inch Discover Pro navigation system with an innovative gesture control. Powered by an efficient 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine, you'll get 178bhp on tap - overtaking will never be a concern, while enjoying a low fuel consumption of 16.9km/l. Mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox, power is delivered effectively, offering a balanced and smooth ride.
  5. TL;DR – VW Passat P-plate driver gets mad when he gets honked at for not stopping at the stop sign. Goes all aggro on cam car in front (with high beam and unnecessary lane cutting). Question: What’s worse than a P-Plater who doesn’t know how to stop at a stop sign? Answer: An angry P-plater who doesn’t know how to stop at the stop sign. What did you learn at driving school? I don’t know about you, but when I was learning how to drive, I’m pretty sure failing to stop at a stop sign was an immediate failure. Then we have this Passat driver, fresh out of driving school with his p-plates, not applying what he learnt less than 12 months ago. Here’s the video Wow, the audacity of this one Cam car gives a warning honk to the P-plater to avoid a collision. But that doesn’t sit well with the P-Plater. He proceeds to tailgate and highbeam the cam car in an aggressive manner. If you thought that was all, towards the end of the video, P-plater swerves out of the lane, speeds up and cuts into cam car’s path like a maniac. Am confused What confuses me the most is that P-plater swerves back to the right lane after all that recklessness. Making him look like not just a prick, but a real noob-#$%^ driver. Loving the comments Lots of wise words from wise people. I really hope the TP sees this video and nabs this guy.
  6. It must have been quite humiliating for this particular Volkswagen Passat. Spotted on ROAD.sg's facebook page over the weekend are a few photos of a BlueSG car that needed to be returned but the driver found himself blocked out of the BlueSG parking lot by an irresponsible VW Passat. We guess the driver of the BlueSG vehicle must have been in a rush and realising that he had no other choice, decided to leave his BlueSG car in front the Passat before proceeding to charge his car. While netizens are all in support of the blueSG driver serving justice to the Passat owner, we feel that two wrongs won't make one right. What would you have done? Tell us in the comments below!
  7. China’s All-New Volkswagen Passat Previews What America Will Soon Get?https://carbuzz.com/news/china-s-all-new-volkswagen-passat-previews-what-america-will-soon-get Say goodbye to the current bland-looking Passat. Say hello to this stunner? We’ve known for some time now that Volkswagen has been hard at work on an all-new North American market Passat. The current generation, built in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has been on sale since 2011. Compared to its immediate predecessor, the outgoing Passat is, in a word, bland, styling wise. It’s not that it was a bad car but it was very conservatively styled inside out. What’s more, it was designed and built specifically for North America while Europe received a more stylish and premium Passat. That won’t be the case for much longer. Thanks to VW Vortex, we’re getting our first look at the newly revealed Chinese market Passat and the car you’re looking at is said to very much resemble what’s about to debut for the US. Without question there’s lots of Arteon design influences throughout, especially up front and from a side profile. Despite having the familiar three-box sedan design, this new Passat is sleeker and unquestionably sexier than today’s car. Despite the sloped roofline, there’s still a traditional trunk as opposed to a liftback design. It’s also bigger than the Euro-spec Passat. For example, it’s about 3 inches longer and has roomier rear seat. Speaking of which, note the quilted leather and fancy glass bottles in the center armrest cupholders. The cupholders will surely be on the US market version, but we’re not so sure about the upgraded upholstery rear seats. Remember, it’s very fashionable in China for owners to be chauffeured around town by a hired driver, hence the need for VW to upgrade the rear seats. It doesn’t work like that in America. The new Passat will ride on VW’s MQB platform which also underpins the likes of the Arteon, Atlas, Jetta, and Europe’s Passat. Under the hood, there’s a good chance the VW will make further use of the same turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four with 268 hp found in the Arteon. It’s paired to an eight-speed automatic sending power to either the front or all four wheels. The Arteon’s US launch was recently delayed and isn’t expected to go on sale until early next year. The all-new Passat, however, will likely debut at either Los Angeles in late November or at Detroit in mid-January.
  8. Very sleek and spacious with nice interior ......will sell well if it's as reliable (ahem2 DSG)
  9. I need some advice on what to do with my car currently. It is a 2009/2010 Passat CC 2.0 Tsi, 6 speed DSG DQ250 About a month ago, my car started juddering at a stop light, foot on the brakes, the car wasn’t moving. It managed to engage the gears just fine for a few minutes after that. Then, at another stop light, the “D” indicator started flashing at the top right corner and the car was stuck in one gear. Drove to the side and restarted the car, everything was fine after that. After that one incident, I’ve only had the gearbox not engage once. This time, I shifter into N and back to D and everything was fine. However, now when I am driving, sometimes there will be a noise when the gears shift. From 2 to 3 and from 3 to 4. Mostly up shifts. Kinda like an abrasion noise. I have no idea what is wrong with the car, and I have went to multiple workshops to get it checked. There was an error code (P2711) and that’s about it. A few mechanics say it is clutched damage and suggested replacing the clutch, costing 1.8k. But I’m thinking, could it just be not enough transmission fluid? The noise doesn’t happen every time I shift, and when I shift manually, it doesn’t have the sound at all. Or maybe some electrical fault?
  10. Those that drive the very staid, sedate and most of the time dull Volkswagen Passat can now pretend their car can race, with the Volkswagen Passat R-Line. This is Volkswagen's answer to those that want a Passat that looks slightly sportier than usual. It also gives current Passat owners and the people who produce those knock-off and cheap body kits how to style their dull family sedan. It gives them hope. A hope that they can look cooler even though they are driving a Passat. Of course, a Passat is still cooler to drive than a MPV. Anyway, the Volkswagen Passat R-Line is a styling exercise that gives that extra Oomph to the Passat. It features new bumpers, side skirts, a bootlid spoiler and a rear diffuser. The R-Line package also includes sports tuned suspension which lowers the Passat by 15mm and 17 inch wheel and tyre combo. The interior gets some extra embellishments - two-tone sport seats, titanium silver trim, stainless steel pedals, sill plates and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. The Passat R-Line tuning package was recently launched in Europe and will make its way to our shores soon enough. Over there, Volkswagen will offer the R-Line package on its Comfortline and Highline variants. It will cost an extra

  16. The current B7 VW Passat (above) was the result of a major facelift from the B6 version and was unveiled at the Paris Motorshow in September 2010. 4 years later in early 2014, VW will release the next generation Passat, codenamed B8. According to Autoweek.nl, the all new model will ride on the new MQB platform which will also underpin the next-generation Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf. The modular MQB platform provides greater dimensional flexibility to the VW models. A Passat coupe is rumored to be in the pipeline as well and would be positioned one rung below the Audi A5. Even though B8 virtually maintains the current length, width and height, the interior is half a size bigger. Insiders predict new styling traits such as a bolder plan view, a more three-dimensional grille, larger C-pillars and a more advanced LED light treatment. The weight is said to come down by about 75 kg, and the assembly can be sped up thanks to a larger number of prefabricated modules. The Passat is rumored have a plug-in hybrid variant with about 168 hp. It has an electric-only range of 50km. For the conventional engines, the petrol units will likely be equipped with a start/stop system to enhance fuel efficiency while the diesels could be outfitted with NOx catalysts to meet Euro6 emission standards.
  17. Volkswagen recently announced the arrival of the new Passat in Singapore with a glitzy launch at the very glamorous and sun-kissed island of Sentosa. While I didn't attend the event in person (shame really), it seems like Volkswagen chose a very unique place to launch what would be their bread-and-butter executive sedan. Let's face it, the Passat isn't exactly a model that sets our pulse racing. Unlike its smaller siblings the Golf GTI and the Scirocco, the Passat has always come across as a bit humdrum and unexciting. On the face of it, it appears that the new one won't be much different. However, perhaps its launch location might signify otherwise. It's no secret now that Volkswagen has been on the rise in Singapore. For the first two months of this year, the "People's Car" has ranked second in the best selling charts over here on our sunny island. The Passat is a car that goes head to head against the likes of the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord. If, and this is just my thought, Volkswagen markets it right, the Passat could be the new default choice for the businessman, or "towkays" in local parlance. Who generally play golf, at Sentosa. Hence the launch location. Of course, maybe I'm just reading too much into this. But I probably won't be surprised to see more than a few of these new Passats on the roads in the months to come.
  18. Bros and well.. Sis.. For a VW Passat.. I dont understand the logic for a 1.4L engine.. I have always felt that the 1.6L for a S80 is already.. like does not suit.. 1.4L for a Passat? Just my opinion.. Now underpowered meh? and using the famous 7 speed gearbox.. http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/review.php?AID=510
  19. [extract] The 1.4-litre TSI variant of the VW Passat has finally arrived in Singapore although it has been available in Europe for some time now. The new 1.4-litre Passat now takes over as the base model of the range from the 1.8-litre. It epitomizes the rising

  24. VW cars are made like Volvos of yesteryear (Remember the Volvo 240 & 740?). My friend was in his VW Passat waiting for the lights to turn green on a gentle slope when he nodded off and lifted his foot off the brake. His Passat moved forward and he was awoken with a bump. The front of his Passat had hit a SBS bus rear. The damage? The SBS (Volvo) bus bumper dented in but VW Passat was unscattered except for a hair line crack on the bumper. I was surprised and amazed. See pictures. My next car would definitely be a VW.
