TL;DR – A Mitsubishi Lancer and a Volkswagen Scirocco were caught on camera speeding along the CTE and overtaking other vehicles using the road shoulder. Unfortunately for one of the two idiots, one of them hit a BMW X3 in the process and went full turtle, causing a 2-hour long jam in its wake. Lancerlution – It’s the term people use to refer to Mitsubishi Lancers trying their best to be EVOs (like this gum gong gia or a Lancer driver) Multiple angles of this incident found itself uploaded on SGRV’s FB page. Watch it all below: VIDEO 1 VIDEO 2 What happened? In the first video you can see the close up of the accident. The cam car is very lucky to have avoided the repercussions of the Lancer and Roc driver’s stupidity. In the second video you can see the build up leading up to the accident + the footage from the first video + some aftermath shots. Online Chatter Is that a fact? Good control but bad luck. I actually did not catch that! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!

A miracle is what this Scirocco needs if it ever wants to see the road again
SGCM_editorial posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Well, here we are again. Another day, and another story about a Volkswagen Scirocco being stupid again. Now don't get this writer wrong. The Scirocco is a nice little car, especially when it is done up nicely and not wrapped up in some ghastly chrome wrap with an obnoxious exhaust that blares through the neighbourhood at night. Fun fact, the Scirocco is unobtainium for American buyers due to Volkswagen never making it available there. And yet what do owners here do with their Sciroccos? Read on. From our, uh, fellow, uh, compatriots(?) over at SG Road Vigilante, we have here a Scirocco with its engine separated from the car. From the information provided, this took place somewhere in Woodlands yesterday night, 19/1/2021. Now, typically the place one would see an engine being out from the car would be at a workshop. And with this Scirocco being a Volkswagen product, this writer is willing to bet that an engine out service happens quite often. Let's not digress. This isn't an automotive workshop, which there are quite a few of in Woodlands. This is a neighbourhood street. So how did this Scirocco end up being separated from its engine in the middle of a street? This writer is guessing the driver was feeling particularly lucky and decided to test the strength and integrity of the bus stop bollards. Now, this writer is not the biggest fan of LTA (far from it, in fact), but one thing that they have done right is the installation of these bollards at all bus stops and multiple traffic junctions in Singapore. Just think, those bollards are meant to stop a literal bus that weighs at least 10 tons with no passengers on board, so what is one silly little Scirocco going to do to it? And should you need some reference..... This Lotus stood no chance. And neither did this bus. Seriously, people, don't test how strong these bollards are. This writer isn't a betting man but he is more than willing to bet that your vehicle isn't going to be too drivable after kissing a bollard at speed. Which is presumably what the driver of the Scirocco was doing. Furthermore, speeding through neighbourhood streets? Does this driver actually have that little disregard for his/her life, let alone others? If you want to maim or kill yourself, by all means, but don't drag others down with you, especially on neighbourhood streets where human traffic tends to be higher. And judging by how parts of the car, not to mention the engine, are strewn all about the road and the bus stop, the Scirocco definitely hit the bollard at a significant rate of speed. It's quite amazing to see how the rest of the car still looks relatively intact. Now once again, this writer is not condemning all Scirocco owners. Just the ones who can't seem to keep themselves out of trouble and end up causing more trouble and inconvenience for everyone else. And not to speculate, but this most likely could be the handiwork of some "YP". Just saying, you never know. 🤷 Ultimately, it doesn't look like anyone was hurt in this accident. At least we hope not. The only "fatality" here is that Scirocco because the only way that car could ever possibly drive again would be nothing short of divine intervention. Or a seemingly bottomless wallet and a lack of common sense, whichever comes first. Drive safely people. There's a time and place for everything, but showing off and acting a fool on the roads, especially neighbourhood streets, there's never any time nor place for that.- 1 comment

Here's a video uploaded by SG Road Vigilante showing a speeding Volkswagen Scirocco zig-zagging along PIE, which also reminds me of another infamous incident caused by a speeding Kia Cerato last weekend. This happened along the Upper Bukit Timah Exit with another unrecognisable car seemingly chasing closely behind him. Putting other road users in danger The Scirocco driver then channeled his inner Alonso to manoeuvre between a tipper truck and a silver Van, overtaking both vehicles in one go. Although i have to admit that this was a well executed move, this act of weaving in and out of traffic puts other road users in danger. Reckless or dangerous driving Many drivers with common sense would already know this, but i'd just like to remind everyone that anyone driving a motor vehicle recklessly, or at a speed or manner which is dangerous to the public, is guilty of an offence. Netizens on Youtube has some comments to say about this: CNY is coming. So please ladies and gentlemen, do drive safe.

The Volkswagen Sciroccos in Singapore have been getting lots of bad press recently. And it is not getting any better with this video that was created this morning. SG Road Vigilante has reported a video that was posted by a Scirocco's rear passenger showing the driver driving above the 90km/h speed limit of expressways in Singapore. In the video, we can see the car going past 180km/h on the speedometer while it entered into CTE after passing the BMW Z4 and Mitsubishi Lancer in front. We hope they did reach home safely after going along at such high speeds.

Scirocco kisses Leon's bumper despite having enough time to brake!?
chitchatboy posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
As seen on ROAD.sg, a red Volkswagen Scirocco has rear ended a SEAT Leon Cupra at the junction of the KJE exit to Woodland Road. The accident happened a while ago on 3rd of April but only started getting viral recently as the Scirocco owner shared the video on a private whatsapp group chat (We have no idea why he/she would do this). Thankfully, this is no serious accident despite the camera car obviously speeding along the KJE exit before filtering into Woodlands road. Sharp viewers of the video would also notice from the car's exhaust note that the accelerator was being pressed to overtake the bus at the 11-second mark. But then again, it did look like the Scirocco could stop in time but chose to not come to a complete stop while checking for vehicles on Woodlands road... Check out the video below. Is this a case of bad luck and/or bad judgement from Volkswagen driver who actually could stop in time or a case of speeding and reckless driving from both drivers? Let us know what you think in the comments below. vid.mp4- 4 comments

Unveiled at 2008 Geneva Motor Show, its been almost 10 years since the reveal and the end for Volkswagen's Scirocco has come. The sporty and good-looking coupe has been well-loved on our shores, with many yuppies buying it and souping it up. However, according to other European publications, the car was deemed as one of the more slow-selling models Volkswagen had in their line up. Despite receiving decent reviews when new, the the model faded in popularity over the years as European sales peaked in 2009 at 45,248 units. Sales did not improve even after the facelift and Volkswagen only moved 10,752 units in Europe last year. No replacement for the car has been officially announced but rumors suggest that if the model does make it into production again, it will likely be an electric car with a range of between 322-603km.

Hi to all wanna share something.I was a passenger in this great car with my friend driving travel at north south highway when my friend decide to test his car performance. After everything seems clear the car is already reaching 220kmh when a Yamaha R6 600cc bike overtook us like we're traveling at moderate speed like that.My friend were quite shock and tried to catch up but still that bike is way apart from us till we reach the toll where we get to look and it's just an R6!I was so surprised that its a Sg registered R6.Now wanna ask Roughly how fast the bike is speeding to pass by us at such lightning speed even though the Scirocco 2.0 is equip with TSI and speed of 210-220?

Volkswagen is celebrating a million sales of the Scirocco with the launch of a Scirocco Million Edition. The figure takes into account the sales of the first two generations of Scirocco that were sold between 1974 and 1992. On the outside, the Scirocco Million is painted in exclusive 'Deep Black' metallic paint with two prominent decorative stripes, one on the bonnet and the other on the boot. It also comes with painted wing mirrors and 18-inch 'Interlagos' alloy wheels. The R-Line bodykit completes the exterior updates. The interior is fitted with standard black leather upholstery with contrasting orange stitching that is also found on the gear knob and handbrake. Stainless steel pedals and special Million-badged scuff plates round up the cosmetic upgrades. Under the hood, five engine options are available. The 1.4-litre TSI petrol have outputs of 122bhp or 160bhp while the 2.0-litre TSI produces 210bhp. The 2.0-litre TDI develops 140bhp or 177bhp. The Scirocco Million Edition will go into production in the later part of May 2013 and sadly to say, it will only be offered in China and hometown Germany. First Generation Second Generation

Recently a friend of mine was interested in 'upgrading' his Mazda Roadster (that's Miata MX5 to most of you) to a 2+2. Choices included the BMW 320Ci, the Audi A5 and even the Volkswagen Scirocco. We had a small discussion on the cars mentioned above. It made me take a long look at the Scirocco and I realized why I never caught on with its looks or why it didn't make me weak in the knees even though it drove extremely well, had a great sports car driving position and was very well put together. The reason was that the Volkswagen Scirocco is actually a fifth generation Honda Civic EG model from the early to mid-1990s fitted with wider arches. The VW Scirocco is supposed to be a three door coupe. In reality it is as low as the Honda Civic mentioned above. It may be wider than the Civic but if you look carefully, it does have the same side silhouette as the Civic. Take a proper look at both car's C pillars. Imagine the EG Civic with a wide arched bodykit (and slightly smaller rear windows) with different badging and you get a VW Scirocco. This is especially even clearer if you were slightly drunk or on medication. I somehow think that VW missed the boat in styling the Scirocco. It should have been done like an updated version to the VW Corrado (below) instead of a very sporty Golf which it is based on. It should have had a more sloping rear hatch instead of still thinking of being practical and all that. Since VW already has the Golf for practicality I still wonder why VW didn't go the whole hog and make a proper coupe. What VW actually came up with is a recycled Honda Civic EG series with a wider rear end. Imagine what would VW do in about fifteen years or so, a copy of the final Euro Civic type R hatchback with wider rear arches?

Are you an owner of a VW Scirocco? Does yours look any cooler than this one? This tuned VW Scirocco has been spotted in China quite recently. But why the VW Scirocco? Well, it's probably because in China, they say that this particular model from the German automaker Volkswagen is often fancied by Chinese young men with tight pants. So, while the body of the car retains its originality

Volkswagen is raising the benchmark for fuel economy in the UK with the introduction of the new Scirocco and Passat CC diesel range that benefit from the firm's BlueMotion Technology. All entry-level and GT trim Scirocco models fitted with the 2.0-litre diesel engine now feature BlueMotion Technology modifications which include Stop/Start and battery regeneration systems, thus helping to create the cleanest and most fuel efficient Scirocco to date. When combined with the DSG transmission, fuel economy for the diesel powered 140 HP Scirocco 2.0 TDI is improved from 51.4 mpg to 57.6 mpg UK on the combined cycle. CO2 emissions drop down from 145 g/km to 129 g/km. In GT trim, fuel economy for the 170HP 2.0 TDI Scicocco improved from 50.4 mpg to 51.4 mpg UK while CO2 emissions is reduced from 147 g/km to 144 g/km. The Passat CC line-up also sees BlueMotion Technology with regenerative braking and Start/Stop systems installed in existing diesel versions. The updates helped the 2.0-litre TDI 140HP Passat CC to achieve a combined 60.1 mpg UK (up from 50.4), while CO2 emissions are reduced to 125 g/km, down from 146 g/km. The more powerful 170HP version of the 2.0-litre diesel engine also boast improved figures with fuel economy hitting 51.4 mpg for the DSG equipped model and emissions down to 144 g/km.

Finally, details and images of the upcoming Opel Astra GTC have broken cover. Technically labeled a concept, Opel has set its sight on the VW Scirocco and the upcoming Hyundai Veloster. The GTC will be a compact, 3-door hatch for five with a coupe-like roofline. It measures 4.46 meters long and incorporates modern Opel design cues. The GTC Paris gets LED running lights / tail lights and rides on 21-inch rims which probably won't be available on the production model. Opel design VP Mark Adams says, "We wanted to express the most emotional side of the Opel brand and we believe this vehicle creates an appropriate visual impact to reinforce our dynamic sporty character." Under the creased hood is a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with direct injection hooked up to a 6-speed manual transmission and a start/stop system. The production model will be powered by a variety of petrol and diesel engines with the grapevine talking about a GTI-version of Opel's little hatch called the GSi with around 200-horsepower and an even crazier OPC model, possibly with as much as 280HP to battle the Scirocco R. Official specs for the GTC will probably start to come out around the time of its Paris debut.

The team at German tuning outfit, RDX Racedesign, have created a sporty and dynamic package for the Volkswagen Scirocco. In order to keep the weight low, the company used thermoplastic for the new body parts. For the Scirocco, the company developed an aerodynamic kit that includes a new, TUV-certified front spoiler, subtly redesigned sidesills with grille elements built in at the rear, and a rear bumper extension with diffuser and mesh. At the back is a new TUV-certified roof spoiler. All of the body parts combine for a cost of

The standard Volkswagen Scirocco R has 195 kW (261 bhp / 265 PS) on tap and it pulls 350 Nm (258 lb-ft). Those figures have been bumped up in three levels by B&B. At Level 1 changes were made to the ECU and the electronic injection was optimised amongst other things. Power and torque increased to 228 kW (306 bhp / 310 PS) and 410 Nm at 1,900 rpm respectively. A Vmax of 275 km/h (171 mph) is quoted. Level 2 bumps this a little further by modifying the exhaust downpipe, optimising air induction, air flows, ignition and fuel injection. As a consequence 238 kW (320 bhp / 324 PS) was released and 435 Nm (321 lb-ft) of torque at 2,000 rpm realised. Top speed increases slightly to 279 km/h (173 mph). The last state of tune, Level 3, uses a special B&B turbo, sport exhaust and air intake in addition to previous and other changes. Maximum power then goes on to reach 266 kW (357 bhp / 362 PS) and peak torque sits at 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) at 2,600 rpm. Accordingly top velocity increases to 280 km/h (174 mph). All these modifications utilise the same 2.0-litre TSI engine. Prices are

Hi guys, I just need some advise. Between the 2 (scirocco vs 118 or 120) which do u actually prefer? Both are 2 doors, price almost same, power wise I think scirocco shd win slightly, looks wise each got their good point. Actually i prefer roc but come to think of it with that $$$ i can get myself a BM, still better than a VW right? I may even get from 2nd hand mkt for a 2008 BM which even cheaper..... s--t man really hard to convince myself to get a ROC

In Singapore, the current entry-level VW Scirocco is fitted to with the 1.4L Twincharged engine. However, a new entry-level 1.4 TSI (Single Turbo) model could be arriving in the near future as evident in its recent launch in UK. It is the same unit that powers the entry level 122bhp Golf. The European speced entry model benefits from a comprehensive list of standard equipment including a six-CD autochanger with iPod preparation, rain and dusk sensors, a multifunction computer and 17-inch

Which is a better buy considering the 1.4 version for both which is about the same price. In fact, at launch, Scirocco appears to be cheaper than Golf Sports. Comments?
