  1. https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news/mitsubishi-triton-2019-revealed-71824 Mitsubishi has ripped the covers from its facelifted Triton that is set to hit Australian showrooms in January 2019, with the updated pick-up ushering in a fresh front-end design, more active safety features and a new six-speed automatic transmission. The biggest change for the updated Triton is the new ‘Dynamic Shield’ front fascia that incorporates higher-set slimline headlights, a revised lower bumper, more sculpted bonnet and an updated grille with chrome flourishes. This design theme is found on most of Mitsubishi’s SUV models including the ASX, Eclipse Cross, Outlander and the related Pajero Sport. Mitsubishi says the front end “uses a horizontal/vertical motif and beefier chrome parts to give a sense of powerful rigidity in a design that echoes the ‘Engineered beyond Tough’ development concept.” Australian pricing and specification are still yet to be announced, but higher-spec variants gain bi-functional LED headlights, and the foglights have also been raised to protect the lighting elements from stone chips and high-water crossings, according to Mitsubishi. The rear bumper has been streamlined and is now integrated into the bodywork, and the bed sides and tail-lights have been restyled. There are fewer changes inside the new Triton, but it gains silver detailing and soft-touch materials. It also features a double-stitched finish on the front seat armrest, knee pads, console lid, brake lever and shifter. The door trims are now slightly thicker than the outgoing model. Second-row occupants now have access to a USB outlet and a roof-mounted air vent with four levels of airflow adjustment, while trays have been fitted around the centre console for smartphone or tablet stowage. Mitsubishi has increased the Thai-built Triton’s rigidity and added more sound-proofing and noise- and vibration-absorbing materials to improve cabin noise levels. The Japanese carmaker has increased available safety systems, which includes the addition of a camera- and radar-based front collision mitigation system with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert and ‘Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation’ that helps prevent unintended motion. A surround-view 'Multi-Around Monitor' will be offered as an option, at least in some international markets, while front and rear parking sensors will be offered and a reversing camera will carry over. Mitsubishi’s on-the-fly 'Easy Select' 4WD system with four modes including rear-drive, four-wheel-drive, and high- and low-range 4WD will also carry over from the previous model. When switched to all-wheel drive mode, the Triton now features an 'Off-Road Mode' that allows specific terrain selection between Gravel, Mud/Snow, Sand and Rock settings for improved control. The Triton is now fitted with hill descent control which operates at speeds up to 20km/h in 4WD modes. The suspension system mostly carries over, namely a double wishbone front and leaf spring rear set-up, but Mitsubishi says it has tweaked it to improve comfort, largely due to to bigger rear dampers. On overseas models fitted with 18-inch wheels, the brakes have been upgraded and now use larger ventilated discs with two-piston calipers. Powered by the carryover 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine, the new Triton produces its peak 133kW of power at 3500rpm and maximum 430Nm of torque from 2500rpm. A 2.4-litrepetrol engine is still available. While the facelifted Triton is offered with a carryover six-speed manual and five-speed automatic transmission, a new six-ratio self-shifter with a Sport mode will also be offered in the new version. The new Triton is offered in four new colours – 'White Diamond', 'Graphite Grey', 'Passion Orange' and red – while white, 'Silver Metallic', 'Black Mica', 'Blue Metallic' and 'Brown Metallic' carry over.
  2. Mitsubishi has revised its L200 a.k.a Triton pick-up truck. The refreshed truck will go on sale in Thailand first. Wearing the latest ‘Dynamic Shield’ front design aesthetic and a high engine hood line, the truck looks more modern now compared to its predecessor. On the topic of modernisation, on-board technology has also been given a boost with Forward Collision Mitigation, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation and the Multi Around Monitor, all included in the truck for the higher end models. Elsewhere, the Triton 4WD can be fitted either with Super-Select 4WD (for optimum traction and handling), or Easy-Select 4WD, which simplifies the switching of the offroad driving modes . When in use, the off-road mode controls engine power, transmission and braking to regulate the amount of wheel slip. Hill Descent Control system is present to allow the driver to negotiate steep or slippery descents. Despite using the existing 2.4 litre MIVEC turbodiesel that outputs 179bhp and 430Nm of torque, the Triton has been fitted with larger front discs and calipers, larger rear dampers, and has replaced the current five-speed automatic transmission with a six-speed one, for better acceleration and economy.
  3. Hi guys, As promised, i went to test drive the mitsubishi triton. unfortunately, i kena bluff by one of the SEs last time who said the double cab was allowed to be test driven, only the single is allowed on the road for test drive. Anyway, for those who are not aware, the 2 in the show room (leng kee), the double cab one is auto, the single cab one is manual both have the carry boy cover installed liao. it looks much better now. So after settling all the necessary stuff with the SE, got into the triton and cranked it up. comfort wise, it was pretty good, now like those bone rattling shaker pickups, the only thing that is 'noisy' is the grunt from the disel engine. also, like most of the disel vehicle si see, the gear knob is 'viberating' most of the time.. firstly, for the single cab, i had some difficulty getting out of the lot. I drove the double cab last week ard the parking lot and it was EASY, but for the single cab, just maybe i'm not used to the long bed. Also, the turnin radius for the triton, umm.. well. takes a bit of getting used to. Also, ironically, for a goods vehicle, i always tot that these vehicles had a sh1t load of torque(so much until 2nd gear can move off like that),but the triton was like a car, at 2nd gear, not that much power( i noe some vans/commercial vechiles move off at 2nd gear, but not this baby) so, becos of its size, its quite hard to manoeuvre it ard small tight places. the double cab was so much easier, but the single cab, a bit scary. now for the fun part. took it out onto the road.. i was thinkin " turbo sia, lets have some fun", so i pushed it at first gear, the engine roared, there was pick up, but the truck didnt really go as fast as i tot ( i was hoping for some pull back or something). then i swtiched to 2nd gear, i tink after ard 2.5k rpm, then the turbo kinda kicked in and there was quite a pull back., then i upped to 3rd gear, the truck just wanted to go faster!! i mean, this baby had some serious power man! i would say, this guy prob is faster than my lancer anyday (without all the sh1t i have in the boot). handling wise, steerin was heavy ( its a big vehicle), but i'm ok with it. but driving this truck gives u a dam shiok feeling, like ur on top of everything and pple will give way to u on the road.. haha overall, i would rate it like this power=10/10 (addicted to wack) comfort=8/10( double cab is dam shiok) handling=6.5/10( dam big, turnin radius dam jiat lat) looks=9.5 ( i would like it without the cover, but then gotta put the dam bars, sians) overall, a lovely vehicle! one thing to take note guys, most of the SEs are dam lazy to go explain or let u take this out for a test drive cos C&C did not give them much info on it. most of them will tell u either no keys or not allowed on the roads yet. the SE who attended to me is Jesse Ong, u guys can look her up, i duno wat else to write on this FR, hope its useful to other brothers here cheers!
  4. Hi guys, for those lookin for a nice pick up, the Mit triton is coming to Singapore! checked it out, the double cab manual is $60k, auto is 10k more (duno why). at the moment, i spoke to the pple at C&C, they said they are gettin clearance to allow the Triton on the road, then after that it can be test driven. there are 2 units in the C&C carpark, one double cab and a single cab. i hope they have the double cab manual one for test drive next time. I also checked out the Hilux, with the steel canapy, its ard $80k (kinda madness). Triton is looking super appealing sia!
